330 ml bottle, batch #2124, from Coop Extra, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large white head. Hoppy aroma of tropical fruits and citrus. Light bodied. The flavour is slightly on the dry side, with notes of pine needles / resin and grapefruit.

330 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Opaque murky yellow colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma and flavour of passionfruit, mango, pineapple and lemons. A medium sour and refreshing fruit juice.

Sampled 1902 vintage from lead(!)-sealed and corked bottle, at RBESG 2006 in Göteborg. The smell was simply lovely, very complex and enticing. Unfortunately the flavour had turned into vinegar, and I could not finish my small ration. But I kept the cork, and enjoyed the smell of it for months!

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, tan head. Moderately roasty aroma and flavour, notes of dark bread, hints of liquorice and smoke. Fairly nice beer, stylewise somewhere between a Schwarzbier and a Baltic porter.

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 10.0%. Opaque and murky greyish-yellow colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of tropical fruits and malts, a hint of citrus. Sweet and citric flavour, notes of yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits, moderate but noticeable bitterness. Enjoyable.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy yellow colour, white head. Citric aroma and flavour, hints of yellow stonefruits. Not the usual Simcoe notes of resin and tomcat. Soft mouthfeel, easy drinking, nice.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Clear and deep reddish brown colour. Malty aroma and flavour, hints of brown bread and dark fruits, some sweetness but not too much. Moderate American hops.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, off-white head. Malty and slightly roasty aroma, hints of caramel and nuts. Moderately roasty flavour, burnt breadcrumbs, hints of caramel and nuts again, not too sweet.

500 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Black colour, small creamy beige head. Moderate aroma of roast malts. Flavour much like Guinness, perhaps a tad sweeter, notes of coffee, a hint of liquorice.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV was said to be 5.5%. Moderately hazy pale golden colour, creamy white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits and yellow plums. The flavour has notes of said fruits, but also a distinct bitterness, almost medicinal.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.3%. Clear golden colour, moderate to low white head. Nice aroma of floral, grassy and herbal hops, some sweetish malts in the background. Medium sweet and malty flavour, followed by distinct herbal hops. A good pilsener indeed, but some European ones are better.

Dec. 2018: 355 ml bottle, from Bris ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.7%. Peach to pink colour, small white head. Aroma of lactic acid and sour cherries, hints of sea water. The flavour has distinct lactic acid and sour cherries, but is not too extreme. Hints of salt and coriander seeds. Fairly refreshing.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.1%. Clear golden colour, moderate to low white head. Sweetish aroma with hints of orange marmalade, notes of earthy hops and wood, even a hint of smoke. Fairly hoppy and peppery flavour, with a distinct bitterness in the aftertaste.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Golden colour, huge white head. Sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, newmown grass, herbs and mild spices. Medium sweet and yeasty flavour, again with notes of white kandij sugar, also fairly distinct notes of black and white peppercorn, noticeable hops in the finish. Not a bad beer, but a bit too sugary.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.7%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Hoppy aroma, notes of pine and spruce, hints of citrus and caramel. Distinctly hoppy flavour, piney and resinous notes, also grapefruit. Very bitter finish, but also very moreish and drinkable for its strength.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Clear deep golden to amber to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, but not overwhelming. Hints of orange marmalade. The flavour is surprisingly well balanced and harmonious for something called "HopDevil" - hoppy of course, but no devil is at loose here, rather a benevolent HopAngel. Me like!

Aug. 2016: 355 ml can, BB date 13 days ago. ABV is 6.5%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh aroma of pine, spruce, citrus and newmown grass. Medium dry and crisp flavour with distinct notes, notes of pine needles, spruce tips and grapefruit. Refreshing.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.1%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Fine aroma with the expected roasty notes, coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, hints of leather, blending in with the fruity notes of West Coast hops. Medium sweet flavour, roasty notes galore, strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate and liquorice, again blending nicely with fruity hops. Bitter finish. A great beer!

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Verksgt., Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of various tropical fruits, also some citrus and spruce. Hoppy and fruity flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. Moderate to low bitterness.

750 ml corked bottle, from Vinmonopolet, nettbutikken. ABV is 10%. Deep golden colour, no carbonation. Aroma of apple pie (apples, cinnamon and other spices). Very sweet flavour, too sweet for me, with the same elements as the aroma. A little fruity acidity would have helped. Probably intended to be drunk as a mulled cider.
