Jan. 2018: 500 ml bottle conditioned, as ELB Golden Ale, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 4.8%. Hazy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of fruity hops, also some unfresh notes of stale marmalade and grain, a hint of spices. The flavour is citric with a bitter and slightly woody finish, but not as fresh as desirable.

April 2002: That's right boys - when in Lithuania, have some "alus". This is the standard brew. Feels right when you get it in the dark brown cafés of the old town of Vilnius or Kaunas - hardly elsewhere.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 4.8%. Moderately hazy golden colour, small and shortlived white head. Aroma of tea and orange peel, also notes of spices. Citric flavour, medium sour, notes of lemons, orange peel and tea. Kind of refreshing, but hardly a beer I'll buy again.

750 ml bottle, from the cidery. ABV is 7.8%. Clear and pale straw colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived white head. Aroma and flavour of various eating apples, medium dry, refreshing. Hints of sulphites.

Cask with sparkler and cask breather, Cardinal, Stavanger. Reddish brown colour (not golden), white head. Aroma of toffee and earthy hops. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavour of grapefruity and earthy hops, distinctly bitter finish. Sufficient malts. Good beer.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of yellow plums and over-ripe peaches. Rich mouthfeel. Hoppy flavour, notes of resin, pine needles, yellow plums, peaches and apricots. Good beer.

Aroma of pineapple, papaya, lychee and other tropical fruits, also a hint of spruce. The flavour is citric, also with notes of tropical fruits and sprucetips, but not too sweet. Low bitterness. Refreshing and enjoyable.

Nice aroma of malts, brown sugar, caramel, over-ripe red berries, dark dried fruits. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements, also molasses and fairly distinct bittering hops in the finish. Noticeable alcohol.

Aroma of roast malts, dark chocolate, mild coffee and roasted nuts. Soft mouthfeel. Pleasant flavour with the same elements as the aroma, not too sweet. Low bitterness.

Fairly nice aroma of malts with a hint of caramel, also floral and herbal hops. Soft mouthfeel. Fairly rich malty flavour, hints of caramel again, also a hint of orange peel, decent herbal hops in the finish. Might buy again.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%, IBU 20. Hazy "ancient pink" colour, moderate off-white to pinkish head. Aroma of raspberries and spicy hops, hints of cleaning agent. The flavour has the same elements, medium sour raspberries dominate. A bit weird perhaps, but far from undrinkable.

350 ml clear slimline bottle, as Hardanger Issider, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9.9%. Clear and deep golden colour, no carbonation. Aroma of concentrated apple juice / cider. Very sweet flavour of concentrated juice of dessert apples, a hint of sulphites. Delicious.

473 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.8%. Hazy yellow colour, large white head. Strong and pleasant aroma of various citrus fruits, yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits. Rich and medium sweet flavour with the same elements, but unlike many double NEIPAs there is also a respectable bitterness. Not overdone, though.

1,5 liter brown PET bottle, with a Norwegian label, as Tervete Baltika Kwas, from an immigrant's store in Jørpeland. ABV is not mentioned on the bottle, but the kwas is brewed on malts and naturally fermented. Very dark brown, nearly black, pours sparkling with a shortlived tan head. Aroma of black rye bread, with a hint of caramel. Moderate carbonation in the mouth. Medium sweet flavour with notes of sugar, caramel, prunes and dark rye bread. Fairly drinkable.

March 2021: 500 ml can, from Rema 1000, Tau. ABV is 4.5%, IBU 15. Hazy pale yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat, orange peel and coriander seeds. Citric and fairly soft mouthfeel. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, low bitterness.

March 2007: 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Brown colour, low head. Moderate but pleasant fruity aroma, hints of spices. The flavour is spicy with moderate malts, not very sweet, pleasant to drink. Relatively high carbonation in the glass. This is not an "extreme" Belgian ale in any way, and no "challenge" for the beer enthusiast, but probably an ale that most people will like.
