5377 | Ægir Sumbel / Aegir Sumbel | Norway | Porter | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Also kindly supplied to me by Ole_R, from Fenaknoken, Oslo. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.7%. Black colour, with a big to moderate tan head, no lacing. Nice roasty aroma, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, just a hint of liquorice. The flavour and mouthfeel are somehat acidic, watery / thin and bland for a porter, there is a moderate roastiness but not much else to interest me. Metallic finish. Disappointing. |

5378 | Ægir Rallar / Aegir Rallar | Norway | Amber Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Also kindly supplied to me by Ole_R, from Fenaknoken, Oslo. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.7%. Dark copper coloured beer, hazy, with a decent off-white head. The aroma has notes of wood, mild spices, caramel and a moderate and undefined fruitiness. The flavour is distinctly fruity, moderately acidic and slightly spicy, with notes of dark münchener malts. Moderate hops in the finish. |

5379 | Ægir Kvase Kølsch / Aegir Kvase Kolsch | Norway | Kölsch | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, fairly clear, only a faint haziness in the end. Decent white head. Fruity aroma (apples and citrus). The flavour is also fruity with some peppery hops. Like other kölsches it is a nice and refreshing beer, but not really very exciting. Might be a gateway beer for pale lager drinkers into the world of ales. |

5380 | Ægir India Pale Ale / Aegir India Pale Ale | Norway | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden colour to orange colour, big and lasting off-white head with an orangey hue. Nice aroma of American hops. The flavour has notes of orange marmalade and resin with a substantial hoppy bitterness, but it is not overdone. Medium sweetness. Grapefruity bitter and long aftertaste - and yngwie is right: there is actually a hint of camphor too! |

5381 | Ægir Bøyla / Aegir Boyla | Norway | Blonde Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, many thanks to Ole_R. ABV is 4.7%. Golden colour, big and lasting head. Fruity aroma, notes of blackcurrants, some notes of malts and hay too. The flavour is biscuity and fairly dry, with noticeable fruity hops. Nicely balanced, quite enjoyable. |

5382 | Aass After Ski | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4 330 ml clear bottle, thanks to Ole_R. Pale yellow colour, big head. Heineken-like aroma (an American would say "skunked") - Heineken is slightly better though, hints of citrus and maize baby porridge. The flavour is slightly lemony and wheaty, and could probably be called "refreshing" if drunk colder than I did. Minimal hops. Soft and thin mouthfeel. After a long day of skiing (or other open air activities) I would want a better beer than this one, that’s for sure. |

5383 | Seidel Pils | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 (Bottle and can). Formerly contract brewed for Norgesgruppen (Norwegian grocery stores) by Christianssands Bryggeri, part of the Hansa-Borg group, but now contract brewed by Aass Bryggeri. Typical uninteresting industrial pilsener, nothing offensive here, but very little to make you happy. I still have to admit I buy it sometimes, as it is CHEAP (by Norwegian standards). I think the quality improved a little when Aass took over. |

5384 | Hverdagsprodukter Kompils | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can, bought at ICA Maxi. ABV is 4.5%. The brewery of this contract brew is not mentioned on the can, but apparently it is the Hansa Borg group. Golden colour, big to moderate fluffy head. Typical "industrial" sweetish pale lager aroma, quite strong and unpleasant. Moderate carbonation in the glass, soft mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately sweet and rather boring, but not offensive. Low bitterness. |

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml clear bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pale yellow to golden colour. Fizzy beer with a big head. Industrial sweetish pale lager aroma, notes of maize, candy and some fruit. The flavour is fairly sweet with some fruitiness, hardly any bitterness at all. Not much to write home about here. |

5388 | Baltika 4 (Original) | Russia | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.6%. Copper coloured beer with a decent beige head. Interesting aroma of lightly roasted malts, caramel and fruit. The flavour is very malty and sweet (the maltose syrup shows its presence), but there is also some fruitiness. Plenty of caramel, hints of rye bread. Low bitterness. A bit too much sweetness for me, but definitely drinkable. |

5389 | Baltika 3 (Classic) | Russia | Pale Lager | 2.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, fizzy white head. Very moderate aroma, some pilsener malts and a weak fruitiness. Very light bodied, relatively dry, very moderate bitterness. Cold, refreshing and easy drinking, but boring. |

5390 | Aass Bayer Uten | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 1.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml bottle. Copper coloured beer with a big off-white head. Typical n/a beer aroma with the usual sickly "boiled" notes (baby porridge, over-boiled vegetables), also some more pleasant hints of bakery and caramel. The flavour is bland and boring, again those sickly "boiled" notes, too much sweetness. A slight bitterness in the finish. Not for me this one. |

5391 | HaandBryggeriet Dobbel Dose IPA | Norway | Imperial IPA | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as HaandBryggeriet Dobbel Dose IPA, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, unfiltered and unpasteurised. Batch #108, brewed Nov. 07, BB Nov. 09. ABV is 8.5%. Very cloudy orange-brown colour, big off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma, notes of flowers and orange marmalade, a hint of oak too. The flavour is sweet (too sweet) and somewhat alcoholic, with a substantial dominance of hops (as expected from a Double IPA), but not quite as extreme as I feared. Bitter finish. When pouring the last sediment in the glass the beer becomes extremely muddy, but the flavour also becomes more complex and interesting. |

5392 | Berentsens Lyng & Honning Ale | Norway | Spiced Beer | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought at Vaaland Spesialbutikken, Bryne. Bottle No. 0689 (out of a total of 7733). Brew No. 1 in Berentsens new Innova-Brygg range. ABV is 4.7%. Brewed with hand-picked heather and local honey. Unfiltered, matured 6 months in tanks at the brewery. Golden colour, large to moderate head. Nice honey aroma. The flavour is dominated by heather and honey as expected, hardly any bitterness, but the beer is not too sweet. The mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin, but this is a fairly easy drinking beer for spring and summer. The finish is rather bland though. |

5393 | Van Diest Fruli Strawberry Beer | Belgium | Fruit Beer | 2.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 250 ml bottle, bought at Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.1%. Cloudy brownish red colour, large pinkish head. Intense sweet aroma and flavour of strawberry jam and artificial "strawberry" candy bars, kind of sickly and sugary. Not undrinkable though. If blindfolded, I would probably not have guessed that this was a beer at all. Not my cup of tea (uh, beer) this one, but people who love candy and strawberry soda might like it. |

5394 | Mack Afterski Winter Party Beer | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can. ABV is 4.7%. Golden colour, fluffy white head. Very vague and weak sweetish aroma, hints of maize, also a hint of caramel as the beer warms up. The flavour is way too sugary and sweet, but at least there is some maltiness too, so unlike "smrprty" it is not void of flavour. Fizzy mouthfeel, minimal bitterness. |

5395 | Mack Lite Lavkaloriøl | Norway | Light / Lite Lager | 2.0

Extremely pale yellow colour, decent lasting head. Fruity aroma, notes of citrus, maize and candy. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is artificially sweet with grainy notes. Empty finish. Poor. |

Amber to orange coloured beer, large and lasting off-white head with an orangey hue. Moderate fruity aroma with raisiny notes. The flavour is moderately fruity and malty, hints of caramel and toffee, with spicy hops. Definitely drinkable, but does not call out the tiger in me. |

5397 | Dorset Chesil | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Labeled a "Tradtional Pilsner". ABV is 4.1%. Brewed with lager malt and Caragold malt. The hops are Sovereign and Lubelski. Golden colour, decent white head. Very nice and strong aroma of honey, flowers and butterscotch. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, but there is also a substantial malty sweetness. Bitter finish and aftertaste. Has the character of a well-made pilsener, but is apparently top fermented? |
