On tap at the brewpub. Hazy deep copper coloured beer, low head. Diacetyl and some vinegar in both aroma and flavour. I did not like it at all. Should never have been for sale - if the brewers want to destroy their own good reputation, this is the way to do it.

There are rumours that this really is the very same beer as HaandBryggeriet Påskegodt, but I find that hard to believe - Sen Sommer Ale is sweeter than I remember Påskegodt to have ever been. A side-by-side tasting is needed to settle that question, methinks. Hazy amber to orange colour, moderate head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops. Sweet flavour (slightly too much sweetness) with plenty of fruity hops. Moderately bitter finish.

500 ml can, ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, pours very fizzy with a decent head. "Industrial" and rather "dead" aroma, with some grainy notes. The beer is "cold and wet", thin, watery and utterly boring. No offensive sidenotes, but has not much going flavourwise at all.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Based on Nøgne Ø God Jul, matured with spruce and blended with a wild forest cranberry ("tyttebær") "lambic" (brettanomyces fermented). Very dark brown colour, nearly black, with a low beige head. Distinct notes of spruce in the aroma, also notes of fruit / berries, coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Very unusual flavour where the spruce and wild forest cranberries dominate, but I’m not entirely sure how well the various flavour elements really do blend. The mouthfeel is a bit fizzy. Still an interesting beer.

Zesty and very fruity flavour, distinct notes of tangerine. Moderate grapefruity bitterness in the aftertaste.

Moderate but nice hoppy (Cascade and Goldings) aroma, hints of toffee too. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has noticeable Goldings and Fuggles hops and some caramel, moderately bitter finish. Okay, but not particularly interesting.

Intense and lovely aroma of mango and other tropical fruits. The flavour has a substantial sweetness with distinct fruity hops throughout, notes of oranges. Very bitter finish and aftertaste.

Hazy amber to brown coloured beer, with a fluffy off-white head. Pours very fizzy. Nice aroma of spices, yeast and oak. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately spicy and slightly fruity, with very moderate hops. The alcohol is well hidden. Not too bad.

Moderate wheaty aroma, hints of banana and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately yeasty and slightly citrussy, but otherwise fairly bland. Minimal hops. Not much here to get excited about. The alcohol is well hidden though.

Milky / murky pale yellow to brown colour, moderate head that does not last forever. Typical witbier aroma, notes of spices (coriander and cloves) and orange peel. Fizzy mouthfeel (too fizzy for me). The flavour has again coriander and cloves, moderate notes of orange peel. Very moderate hops. Not the best witbier I’ve had.

500 ml can, ABV is 4.5%. Golden brown colour, big to moderate head. Dull and boring aroma, weak hints of malts and caramel. The flavour is also dull and boring but not offensive, moderate notes of malts, a weak hint of toffee but the beer is not sweet. Hardly any noticeable hops at all. Thin mouthfeel. Yawn. Zzzzzzz.

500 ml can, ABV is 4.5%. A "pale ale" brewed with German aromatic hops, hmm? Golden colour, big to moderate head. Moderate "pale lager" aroma, hints of grass and honey. The flavour and mouthfeel are also like a pale lager, as such not the worst I have tasted, not offensive, but far from great. In a blind test I would never have guessed that this was an ale. Lacks completely the character of an English bitter / pale ale.

Moderate fruity aroma, notes of candy and citrus. Zesty mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately sweet with some fruity notes, minimal hops, bland finish. Not much to write home about here. Far from undrinkable though.

500 ml bottle, now available in Norway. ABV is 4.3%. Crystal clear golden colour, big to moderate head. Moderate aroma of grain and citrussy hops. The flavour is dry and refreshing with distinct and pleasant notes of citrussy Boadicea hops throughout, but the malts do not come up front. Moderate but nice bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. All the "environment friendly" hype aside, this is a fairly decent refreshment ale, not exceptional but nice enough.

330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway. The label only says "Meteor Bière d’Alsace". ABV is 4.6%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, big white head. Initially a citrussy and sweetish Heineken-like aroma (an American would probably say "skunky", but I don’t mind), the aroma sort of "dies" in the glass. Fairly "clean" pale lager flavour, moderately sweet and slightly citrussy, very moderate hops, not offensive but far from exciting.

330 ml bottle, thanks to oh6gdx and chris_o. ABV is 5.5%. Cloudy dark brown colour, nearly black, reddish in the highlights. Creamy and lasting tan head. The aroma is malty and somehow "unfresh" (I wouldn’t have thought of "beef stock" myself, but yes, you’ve got a point there, yngwie!), the honey is there, but without the light and floral notes that usually accompany it. No fruitiness at all in the aroma. The flavour is somewhat better: plenty of malts with a moderate roastiness, fairly sweet, notes of mild coffee, caramel, some chocolate and of course honey. Hardly any fruitiness, and not much bitterness. Not particularly well balanced, and is far from being my favourite porter.

The sweetish aroma is a bit strange, after all green tea and yuzy fruit are not common ingredients in beers. Some rubbery notes too. The flavour has some wheaty notes, but is most of all reminiscent of lemon ice tea. Minimal bitterness. Not undrinkable, but won’t buy again.

The flavour is surprisingly similar to an "ordinary" German pilsener, fairly crisp and "clean" with decent hops in the finish. This must be good news for pilsener fans with coeliac disease!

Yeasty aroma with notes of oranges, apricots and coriander. Rich mouthfeel, high level of carbonation. The flavour is sweet, spicy, yeasty and fruity, with lots of residual sugars. Hints of honey too. Moderate hops in the slightly peppery finish. Maybe a tad too sweet, but still an interesting beer.

The flavour is fairly sweet and malty but also earthy, notes of honey but not too much, and there is a distinct hoppy and resinous bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Quite interesting beer.

330 ml stubby bottle, thanks to oh6gdx and chris_o. ABV is 6.6%. Contains barley malt, wheat malt, oats and spelt, hops, yeast, coriander and orange peel. Hazy golden colour, huge head. Typical "Belgian" aroma: ale yeast, spices, fermenting fruits. The flavour is spicy but also very refreshing for a beer of this strength, moderately sweet with decent hops in the finish. Just a touch of citrus. Well balanced and pleasant to drink.
