4777 | Nøgne Ø Sweet Horizon | Norway | Imperial Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 250 ml(?) bottles, courtesy of the brewery, on a couple of occasions. Pitch black colour, moderate to low tan head. Nice aroma of sweet malts, sweetened coffee, dark dried fruits and oak. Alcohol is noticeable. The flavour is very roasty, very malty and rich, and very sweet - but not too sweet, after all. This is a real treat for any beer lover with a "sweet tooth". |

4778 | Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza | United States | Biere de Garde | 4.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 1 pt. 9.4 fl. Oz. bottle, as "Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza Artisan Golden Ale - Ale Aged in Oak Barrels", courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Batch 463. ABV is 8%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, with a huge white head. Lovely fruity and spicy aroma, which also carries strong notes of "farmhouse" / wild yeast and white wine vinegar. The flavour is equally excellent, spicy and fruity notes, some acidity, with a hoppy and peppery bite in the finish. Extremely drinkable and refreshing for its strength. |

4779 | HaandBryggeriet HaandBic | Norway | Fruit Lambic | 3.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Brewed with redcurrants and "tyttebær"/lingonberrries (a kind of wild forest/mountain cranberries) and lambic style yeast. Aged in oak barrels for 18 months. Orange colour, moderate to low off-white head. Strong aroma of tyttebær juice, farmhouse / horseblanket and vinegar. Moderate carbonation. The flavour is sour and lambic-like, but not extreme. The berries come through nicely, funky and oaky notes, not much sweetness. Alcohol is noticeable, but not in a bad way. Refreshing and interesting beer. |

4780 | HaandBryggeriet / De Molen Menno & Jens | Norway | Spiced Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. My first "real" gruit beer, without any hops at all. Brewed in collaboration between Menno of De Molen (NL) and Jens of HaandBryggeriet. Ingredients include barley malts, wheat malt and rye malt - and herbs. Cloudy orange to brown colour, big to low off-white head with an orangey hue. Interesting sweetish malty aroma with notes of herbs, spices and rye, also notes of berries and oxidised fruit. Soft mouthfeel. Pleasant flavour with notes of malts, fruit and herbs, relatively sweet but not cloying. Could use some more bittering herbs, but this is still a nice beer as it is. |

4781 | BrewDog Alpha Dog | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Reddish brown colour, big beige head with orangey hue. Very nice aroma of fruity hops, notes of red berries, hints of toffee. The flavour has also fruity hops throughout, also notes of burnt toast, hints of caramel. Moderate hops in the finish, but the bitterness actually gets more pronounced through the long aftertaste. |

4782 | Southern Tier Imperial Gemini | United States | Imperial IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 650 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10.5%. Orange coloured beer, big to moderate off-white head with an orangey hue. Strong aroma of American hops, fruity and resinous notes, sweetish malts in the background, hints of marmalade and caramel. The flavour is first very sweet, followed by a massive assault of American hops, with a distinct grapefruity and resinous bitterness throughout. |

4783 | The Bruery Saison de Lente | United States | Saison | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. The glass fills completely with a huge white head, while a pale golden and slightly hazy beer only slowly appears. Rustic aroma with notes of farmhouse (brettanomyces) and oxidised apples, also spicy notes (coriander, cloves). Moderate carbonation in the mouth. The flavour is distinctly hoppy and moderately spicy throughout, with a bitter finish. Easy drinking for its strength. |

4784 | HaandBryggeriet Kreklingøl | Norway | Fruit Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.0%. Reddish brown beer, big to moderate off-white head with a reddish hue. The aroma is yeasty and somehat alcoholic, with distinct and unusual notes of crowberries. The beer is fairly light bodied and refreshing for its strength. The crowberries come through nicely in the flavour, but the beer is neither very sweet nor very sour. Very moderately hopped, obviously with the intention of letting the crowberries stand out more, but I’d still like some more hoppy bitterness in the finish. |

4785 | Rebel Černý | Czech Republic | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Rebel Černý, 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.7%. Mahogany coloured beer, huge and lasting beige head. Pleasant aroma of caramel and bakery. Malty flavour with notes of caramel, brown bread and slightly burnt toast. A moderate but noticeable bitterness in the aftertaste. |

4786 | Harboe Skælskør Original Pale Ale | Denmark | Blonde Ale | 2.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Harboe is not mentioned anywhere on the label, so they obviously try to fake an impression of this beer being brewed in a micro brewery. Their "pilsener type pale ale" is another evidence that these clowns know absolutely nothing about brewing good beer. Golden colour, moderate white head. "Chemical" and "artificial" aroma, sweetish notes of candy and harsh butter. Pale lager flavour, fizzy mouthfeel, dusty and metallic hops in the finish. A poor beer, but not totally undrinkable. |

4788 | Nørrebro Bryghus Stuykman Wit | Denmark | Witbier | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 600 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Organic. ABV is 5.0%. Pale yellow colour, clear first, hazy when the sediment is poured in the end. Big to moderate white head. Sweetish aroma with notes of cloves, coriander and ripe bananas, hints of citrus. Refreshing wheaty flavour with notes of cloves and coriander, not very sweet. Very moderate hops. |

4789 | Skovlyst BøgeBryg | Denmark | Amber Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.2%. The brewers call this a "dark American ale", not an IPA. The brewery website says the beer has been fermented and matured with fresh beech branches, while the bottle label says it has been brewed with oak and beech extract. Ingredients also include glucose syrup. Hm. Reddish amber colour, big off-white head. Nice aroma of fruity Cascade hops, just a hint of wood, smoke and syrup. The flavour is sweet and malty, the glucose syrup also has a distinct presence, but the beer is not quite sweet enough to be "cloying". Also notes of wood, hints of smoke. Noticeable hops in the finish. An unusual beer, might be called "interesting". |

4790 | Ørbæk ØPA | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Organic. Pale golden colour, like a pilsener. Huge white head. Pleasant aroma of Cascade hops, citrussy and herbal notes. Light bodied. The flavour is "dusty" and fairly bitter, but could use a malty backbone and more complexity. Bitter aftertaste, slightly metallic. |

4791 | Ørbæk Geniuss Extra Stout | Denmark | Dry Stout | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Black colour, reddish brown in the highlights. Big to moderate beige head. Roasty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee. The mostly dry flavour has some initial hints of acidity, and the mouthfeel could be fuller. Moderate roasty notes of coffee, hints of cocoa, "dusty" hops in the finish. Fair enough, but not the best stout I’ve had. |

4792 | Adnams Tally-Ho | United Kingdom | English Barleywine | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 7.2%. Mahogany coloured beer, big beige head. Vinous aroma, notes of raisins and other dark dried fruits, also hints of caramel. The flavour is fairly malty and moderately sweet (but not as sweet as I expected), with hints of dark dried fruits and caramel again, while the finish is biscuity dry with noticeable hops. Fairly bitter aftertaste. |

4793 | Tuborg Lime Cut | Norway | Pale Lager | 1.3
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 330 ml clear bottle with a tear-off cap (thought those went out of fashion in the 70s?). Distributed (and probably brewed) by Ringnes (Carlsberg) for the Norwegian market. ABV is 4.5%. Extremely pale and crystal clear yellow colour, big to moderate white head. Weak aroma with hints of pilsener malts and artificial lime flavouring. Sweetish sugary flavour with notes of artificial "lime" again - and nothing else. No bitterness, nor any other indications that this actually is a beer. Jeezes - what a worthless "beer"! I’d rather have a glass of mineral water with a twist of real lime. Ringnes/Carlsberg have once again shown us that Tuborg is chosen as their bog standard brand in Norway. |

4794 | Thisted Thy Porter Overgjæret | Denmark | Imperial Porter | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Top fermented, ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, big and lasting brown head. Nice aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and mild coffee. Roasty flavour, notes of burnt toast and strong coffee, hints of dark bitter chocolate and liquorice, but the beer is not very sweet. Fairly bitter finish and aftertaste. |

4795 | Ølfabrikken Vinter Klovn | Denmark | English Pale Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, bought at SuperBest Aalborg. ABV is 5.4%. Ingredients include shredded almonds, orange peel and vanilla sugar. Orange colour, big off-white head with an orangey hue. Pleasant aroma of fruity and floral hops, hints of toffee and spices. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation in the glass. The flavour has very moderate hops and a sugary sweetness, with a slight acidity in the finish. Drinkable, but not impressive. |

4796 | Belhaven Robert Burns Brown Ale | United Kingdom | Brown Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as Belhaven Robert Burns Scottish Ale, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.2%. Copper coloured beer, big and lasting off-white head. Predominantly malty aroma, but also some fruity hops and vinous notes, hints of berries, oak and honey. The flavour has notes of the same elements, but the hops are very moderate, and do not leave much bitterness for the aftertaste. Still a decent and very drinkable beer. |

4797 | Svaneke Bornholmer Bryg Skipper Clements American Pale Ale | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Unfiltered APA. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate carbonation. The aroma has notes of fruity American hops, but unfortunately also strong and disgusting notes of vomit. The flavour has moderate but decent hops throughout, but lacks a bit of malty backbone. Bitter aftertaste. What a pity about the aroma! A bad bottle? If that was the case, I’d think the flavour would be flawed too? |

4798 | Søgaard Madam Weizen | Denmark | Hefeweizen | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Føtex or SuperBest, Aalborg. ABV is 4.8%. Hazy pale golden colour, big to moderate white head. Typical hefeweizen aroma of ripe bananas, bubblegum and cloves. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. The flavour has first a slight acidity, then the usual h.w. characteristics of cloves and citrus, but not as pronounced as in the best beers of its kind. Some "dusty" notes too, bland finish. |

4799 | Svaneke Bryghus Sweet Mary | Denmark | Doppelbock | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 7.9%. Unfiltered. Dark brown colour, big beige head. Pleasant sweetish aroma with notes of malts, loads of caramel and old sherry or port. Hints of oak and leather. Sweet malty flavour, notes of oak, old sherry or port again, plenty of caramel but the sweetness is not cloying. Very moderate hops, a little more would not hurt. Still, a reasonably good beer as it is. |

4800 | Søgaard US Pale Ale | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Føtex or SuperBest, Aalborg. ABV is 5.1%. Hazy orange to amber colour, big cream-coloured head. Lovely aroma of citrus and tropical fruits (Cascade hops). The mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin. The flavour has notes of fruity American hops, but the grapefruity bitterness is rather moderate. Fairly dry beer. |
