4604 | Kinn Pilegrim | Norway | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml capped bottle, courtesy of the brewer. ABV is 4.7%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer appears only slowly. When the head eventually is low enough to make the beer drinkable from my tall glass, the remaining carbonation is very moderate. I think the refermentation in the bottle has gone a bit "bananas" here, seems not right for an English style bitter. Quite nice aroma of Fuggles and Centennial hops, notes of blackcurrants, hints of butterscotch and honey. The flavour has a decent hoppy character from the Fuggles and Centennial, and a bitterness of 35 IBU (mainly from the Target hops). The malts in the background seem just about right, with only a tad of honeyish sweetness from the pale crystal malts. |

4605 | Kinn Knutholmer | Norway | Witbier | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked and wired bottle, courtesy of the brewer. ABV is 4.7%. Brewed exclusively for Knutholmen, www.knutholmen.no . Traditional witbier ingredients. Hazy pale golden colour, huge white head. Typical witbier aroma of coriander, cloves and orange peel - nice. Moderate carbonation in the glass, when the beer finally appears below the foamy head. Soft mouthfeel. Refreshing flavour, notes of coriander, cloves and citrus - but the hops (Northern Brewer and EKG) are too moderate, even for a witbier. IBU is only 15. Still a nice and very drinkable thirstquencher. |

4606 | Erdinger Festweisse | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Melkebaren, Sandnes. Hazy deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of cloves and other spices, hints of banana. The flavour is moderately spicy with just a hint of banana, moderate but noticeable hops. Has more going on than the "ordinary" Erdinger Hefe-Weissbier. |

4607 | Founders Reds Rye | United States | Rye Beer | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.6%, 70 IBUs. Reddish brown colour, big and lasting off-white head. Nice aroma of floral and citrussy hops (dry hopped with Amarillo), also sweetish notes of caramel and orange marmalade. The flavour has also notes of orange marmalade and caramel malts, but is not extremely sweet. There is a distinct hoppy bitterness towards the end, with grapefruity and resinous notes, lasting through the long aftertaste. Good stuff. |

4608 | Founders Double Trouble Imperial IPA | United States | Imperial IPA | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.4%, 86 IBUs. Surprisingly pale golden colour, probably the palest American double IPA I’ve seen. Big to moderate white head. Distinct but still relatively moderate aroma of citrussy and piney American hops, also notes of caramel and orange marmalade. The flavour is of course very hoppy from start to finish, but not really extreme. The grapefruity bitterness is partly balanced by a pronounced malty sweetness. Notes of caramel and orange marmalade again. Very bitter aftertaste. |

4611 | Ægir Natt Imperial Porter | Norway | Imperial Porter | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Black colour, big and lasting creamy tan head. The aroma is first surprisingly moderate, some roasty notes, mild coffee, hints of chocolate and liquorice. Improves as the beer warms up a little. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour is roasty, malty and fairly sweet, notes of sweetened strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate and English liquorice, with a pronounced hoppy bitterness throughout. Alcohol is noticeable. Bitter aftertaste. A couple years in the cellar might be a good idea. |

Very nice aroma of fruity hops, hints of spruce. The flavour is definitely hoppy, but less so than most American IPAs. Some sweetness, the alcohol is noticeable. 4615 | HaandBryggeriet Good Force | Norway | Wheatwine | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Cloudy brownish golden colour, moderate white head. Strong wheaty / estery aroma, notes of yeast, cloves, banana and chamomile. The flavour is sweet with strong notes of banana, yeast, spices and chamomile. Powerful and warming mouthfeel. I admit being sceptical to a wheat beer this strong, but Good Force is actually .... well, GOOD. You’ll need an ability to handle a certain amount of sweetness, though. |

4618 | Föroya Bjór Green Islands Stout | Faroe Islands | Stout | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, a gift. ABV is 5.8%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Moderate aroma of dark malts, hints of chocolate and mild coffee. Light bodied, thin mouthfeel for its strength. Lacks the full and creamy mouthfeel of a good stout. The flavour is quite dry, notes of roasted malts and thin coffee. The dusty bitterness in the finish is too moderate. Drinkable of course, but very far from the most impressive stouts I’ve had. |

4619 | Föroya Bjór Sct. Brigid Blond | Faroe Islands | Belgian Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, a gift. ABV is 5.8%. This might be the first beer I’ve had with angelica as one of the ingredients. (In the Nordic countries, this herb was not uncommon as a flavour ingredient in farmhouse beer and spirits in the olden days.) Hazy pale golden colour, big white head. Interesting and pleasant aroma of herbs, spices and Belgian ale yeast. Light bodied. Fairly dry flavour with moderate notes of herbs and spices, but the mouthfeel is too thin. Slightly fruity / acidic finish, very moderate bitterness. Could have been better, but well worth sampling. |

Hazy brownish amber colour, big to moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Strong sweetish aroma of candy, syrup, Belgian ale yeast and chili, hints of honey. The flavour has sweet notes of malts and Belgian ale yeast, hints of honey and syrup, minimal hops. Not much chili flavour while the beer is in your mouth, but there’s a distinct chili burn in the aftertaste. A bit weird, but well worth sampling. |

4623 | Kaltenberg Konig Ludwig Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Rewe Getränkemarkt, Erding. ABV is 5.1%. Deep copper brown colour, big to moderate off-white head. Aroma of bakery (brown bread and pastry) and caramel malts, also some moderate fruity notes. The flavour is malty with caramel, but not too sweet, some lightly burnt notes and moderate hops in the finish. Well balanced and pleasant to drink. According to Roger Protz, this is one of the 300 beers you need to sample before you die. I would not limit myself to 300 beers, but König Ludwig Dunkel is definitely worth sampling (and having again the day after), as a fine example of Bavarian dunkels - a style that most of the time does not get the love it deserves on beer rating websites. |
