4201 | Øl-laboratoriet Summit Single Hop IPA | Denmark | IPA | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Hazy deep golden to amber colour. Summit hops were a new aquaintance for me, and they are clearly present in both aroma and flavour of this brew. Fruity (grapefruit, peaches) and resinous notes, with a bitter and moderately sharp finish. IBU was said to be 111, but the beer felt not that extreme. Very drinkable, and my interest in trying Summit hops in homebrew has increased. |

4202 | Øl-laboratoriet Original Old Porter | Denmark | Porter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Dark brown colour, moderate tan head. This is supposed to a classical English brown porter. Moderate roasty aroma, notes of coffee, hints of liquorice and smoke. The fairly dry flavour has also notes of mild coffee, and hints of liquorice, wood and smoke. |

4203 | Øl-laboratoriet Hophead IPA | Denmark | Imperial IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Hazy amber colour. Nice aroma of American hops. The flavour is allegedly "vehemently hopped" with Columbus, Centennial and and Simcoe. The beer is indeed well hopped, but not "vehemently". Seems quite well balanced to me, and is very drinkable. |

4204 | To Øl First Frontier | Denmark | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Hazy deep golden colour. Strong and pleasant aroma of American hops (Warrior, Simcoe and Centennial), fruity and piney notes. The flavour is also dominated by said fruity hops, but is not too extreme. Noticeable malts with a little caramel balance the flavour nicely. Very good! |

4206 | Svaneke Jule Spektakel | Denmark | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. After reading the commercial description, my expectations were high, but the beer did not quite live up to them. Reddish brown colur, but paler than expected. Moderate malty aroma, some caramel. Did not get much of the promised complexity. The flavour has some malts and caramel, a little fruit, a little spiciness - but too little of everything. Drinkable of course, but I want something better than this for the Yuletide. |

4209 | Det Lille Bryggeri Lakrids Porter | Denmark | Porter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Høkeren, Copenhagen. Batch #RØ156. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. ABV is 5.7%. The cap was not tight enough for my flight from Copenhagen to Stavanger, and about 1/4 of the beer leaked out in my suitcase. Still plenty of carbonation left in the bottle. Murky / opaque very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate tan head. Distinct roasty aroma with strong notes of coffee, also dark chocolate and liquorice, hints of wood and smoke. Medium dry flavour, again with strong notes of coffee, also liquorice, wood and dark bitter chocolate. Also a hoppy bitterness in the finish. Fairly decent beer. |

4214 | Lapin Kulta Premium Lager (2007-) | Finland | Pale Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, as Lapin Kulta Premium. Was said to be 4.5%. Golden colour, low white head. Moderate floral aroma, not bad, not remarkable. Crisp and fairly dry flavour, but far too modest on the hops. This is a beer you’d drink on a tropical beach, rather than in the wilds of Lapland. |

4215 | Tripel Karmeliet | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed by Bosteels. ABV is 8.4%. The glass fills completely by an enormous foamy head, and the golden beer below appears only slowly. Strong and attractive aroma of spices, Belgian ale yeast and some fruit. The flavour is also spicy and yeasty with some fruit, notes of white kandij sugar, but the sweetness is not too much. Moderate hops in the finish. |

4216 | Mikkeller Koppi Tomahawk x Guji Natural Coffee IPA | Denmark | American Black Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, Cardinal & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Amber colour, slightly hazy. Large off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of coffee and powerful Tomahawk hops, an unusual combination. The flavour has a considerable sweetness, followed up by strong notes of coffee and resinous and fruity hops. The combination feels kind of weird, but on the other hand: Why not? |

Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Strong aroma of fruity and resinous hops, notes of orange marmalade. The medium sweet flavour has intense hops from start to finish, as expected. Notes of resin, pine needles and bitter oranges. Bitter and sharp aftertaste, of course - and the alcohol is not well hidden. |

4218 | Weihenstephaner / Samuel Adams Infinium | Germany | Belgian Strong Ale | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 750 ml very elegant corked bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. ABV is 10.5%. Crystal clear golden colour, pours very sparkling with huge white head. Slightly "unfresh" aroma of "Belgian" ale yeast, mild spices and stale marmalade, hints of alcohol and solvent. The flavour has also an "unfresh" character, notes of stale fruit, stale hops, alcohol and a hint of caramel. Whatever the idea behind this beer, it was poorly executed. Disappointing. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Pale golden colour, large white head of good retention. Decent aroma of grassy and floral Saazer hops, with a hint of honey. The flavour has also nice presence of Saaz, but there is also a pleasant malty sweetness. Overall is this a fairly well balanced pilsener, above average for the style, and very refreshing when cold. |

4223 | Beer Here Ammestout | Denmark | Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5%. Black colour, large brown head. Roasty aroma, strong notes of coffee, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour is roasty and medium sweet, strong notes of coffee again. A nice stout, but it would be probably be tasty even without the coffee, which I assume the nursing mother and her baby wouldn’t miss before they go to sleep. |
