3776 | Rosita | Spain | Blonde Ale | 2.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, as Rosita Original, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 5.5%. Imported to Norway by Moestue Grape Selections AS. According to the Norwegian rear label, this is a spontaneously fermented ale (not sure if that is entirely true), with a secondary fermentation in the bottle. Hazy golden colour, large to low white head, decent lacing. Strong sweetish and "unfresh" aroma, distinct notes of stale marmalade and decaying / rotting fruits. The flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, wheaty and fairly refreshing character with hints of citrus. Won’t buy again though. |

3777 | Herslev Bryghus Oktober Bock | Denmark | Bock | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika. Batch #461. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. ABV is 7.5%. Hazy amber colour, large off-white head. Sweetish but nice aroma, ripe fruits, malts and some caramel. The flavour is also fruity and malty, medium sweet, with tolerable hops in the finish. The alcohol is not very well hidden, but that’s okay - after all, this IS a bock. Quite enjoyable. |

3778 | Meantime Raspberry Grand Cru | United Kingdom | Fruit Beer | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, as Meantime Raspberry Grand Cru, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 5.5%. Very cloudy peachy to brown colour, large to moderate off-white head with a peachy hue. The aroma has strong notes of ripe and over-ripe raspberries (no surprise). The flavour has also notes of raspberries, but not as much as some Belgian fruit beers, and is not overly sweet. Refreshing wheaty notes, hints of citrus. Nice enough to drink, but not worth the price. |

3779 | St. Peter's Suffolk Smokey | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml oval green bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Deep golden colour, moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of peat smoke / peated malts. The flavour is also dominated by peat smoke and ashes, with just a hint of fruity hops in the background, dry finish. Okay, but one bottle is enough. |

3780 | Chang Beer | Thailand | Pale Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 This beer seems to need a split in the BeerPal database - my 330 ml bottle (in France), simply named "Chang Beer", was a typical standard pale lager at 5.0% ABV, and can’t possibly be "the same beer" as a 6.4% "strong lager"??!! Anyhow, my beer pours with a golden colour and a large head. "Neutral" lager flavour, not offensive, moderate sweetness. Okay with a spicy Thai meal. |

3781 | Chang Beer Light | Thailand | Light / Lite Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, simply as Chang Beer 4.2%, now in Norwegian grocery stores. Extremely pale yellow colour, nearly colourless. Moderate to low white head. Aroma of baby porridge and grass. The flavour has some sweetish pilsener malts and hints of citrus, making the beer not undrinkable - but this is certainly not something to seek out. |

3782 | Herslev Høst Bryg Hyben | Denmark | Fruit Beer | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 6.2%. Orange colour, large off-white head. Strong aroma of of rose hips and wild rose petals, as expected, and some undefined sweetish fruity notes that I am not entirely comfortable with. The flavour is better than the aroma, medium sweet and fruity, rose hips again, moderate but noticeable hops. Fairly drinkable. |

3783 | LoverBeer BeerBrugna | Italy | Wild Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 375 ml green bottle, vintage 2010, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 6.2%. Hazy orange to brown colour, very low off-white head. Strong sourish & sweetish aroma with notes of plums, wine vinegar and peaches, also hints of horse stable, oak and farmhouse kitchen. Sweet & sour flavour, notes of peaches, vinegar and oak again. Minimal bitterness, dry finish. Not really my cup of tea. |

3784 | Valdres Staut Jul | Norway | Spiced Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Despite the name, this is not a stout by any stretch of the mind, but a "Christmas spiced" version of their ordinary Staut, which is listed at RateBeer as a brown ale (English session style porter might be more appropriate). Dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma of malts and Christmas spices, hints of liquorice. Smooth and soft flavour and mouthfeel - malts, caramel and Christmas spices (incl. cinnamon). |

Strong and "typical tripel" aroma: notes of Belgian ale yeast, fruit, flowers, mild spices and white kandij sugar. The medium sweet flavour is spicy and moderately fruity, with decent hops in the finish. Has everything you expect from a tripel. |

3789 | Emelisse Black IPA | Netherlands | American Black Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops (citrus, tropical fruits), also roasted malts and mild coffee. The medium dry flavour has also a mix of fruity hops and roasted malts, smooth first, then a pronounced hoppy and roasty bitterness in the finish. Good stuff, very drinkable for its strength. |

3790 | Emelisse Rauchbier | Netherlands | Rauchbier | 3.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%, EBC 31.7, EBU 29.2. Stamwortgehalte 16 degrees. Cloudy brown colour, moderate to low off.white head. Strong aroma of smoked meat, with some faint sweetish malty notes in the background. The flavour has strong notes of smoke, with just the right maltiness and decent hops. Bitter finish. I am not a big fan of smoked beers, but this one was quite drinkable. |

3792 | Emelisse Espresso Stout | Netherlands | Imperial Stout | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights, large to moderate tan head. Roasty aroma with strong notes of espresso coffee, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour is very roasty and seems first quite dry, intense notes of espresso coffee, maybe too much. I’d like a little more sweetness, to balance the roastiness and the bittering hops in the finish. Still a fine beer as it is, but requires that you don’t hate coffee. |

3793 | La Guillotine | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml mock stoneware bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. The glass fills completely by a white foamy head, and the golden beer below appears only slowly. Strong and "typically Belgian" sweetish aroma with yeasty, spicy and fruity notes. The flavour is also spicy, medium sweet and "typically Belgian", with distinct hops in the finish. Warming mouthfeel. A few of La Guillotine, and you might lose your head completely ... |

3794 | Liefmans Cuvée Brut | Belgium | Fruit Lambic | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 375 ml green corked and caged "champagne" bottle, wrapped in red paper, as Liefmans Cuvée Brut, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Dark red beer, large pinkish-peachy head. Strong and intense aroma of cherries, also notes of almonds and marzipan. The flavour is cherries all the way, medium sweet, not "brut" by any stretch of the mind. At least it is somewhat drier than Liefmans Fruitesse. Just a hint of hops and oak in the finish. Quite good, if you like cherries (and who doesn’t?), and don’t expect a "normal" beer flavour. |

3795 | Lindemans Peche | Belgium | Fruit Lambic | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 375 ml green bottle, gold foil top, capped and corked, as Lindemans Pecheresse. ABV is 2.5%. Will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, large white head. Nice aroma of peaches, peach candy and peach flowers. Sweet flavour with loads of peach juice (minimum 30%, actually) and peach candy - and not much else. Just a moderate acidity. However, peaches taste good ... But don’t expect anything near a "normal " beer flavour! |

Ingredients include cherries, cherry juice, elderberry juice, sugar, flavouring and sweetener. Hazy red colour, large pink head. Strong aroma of cherries and elderberries, hints of almonds and marzipan. The flavour is sweet with strong notes of cherries and elderberries as expected, somewhat "unfresh", but also an unexpected sharpish bitterness in the finish. Not really great. |

Golden brown colour, moderate to low white head. Aroma of malts, cellar, fruit and kandij sugar, hints of oak. The flavour is fruity, moderately acidic and quite sweet, sugary and oaky notes. Faro is maybe not my favourite beer style, but this is a nice "change of pace" beer. |

Caramel and brown bread baked with syrup, dark dried fruits, moderate hops. Well balanced and truly enjoyable. |

The aroma has distinct notes of anise and other spices. Light bodied and refreshing for its strength. The flavour is not too sweet, and has also strong notes of anise, quite unusual in such a pale beer. Unfortunately I am not a big fan of anise in beer ... |

Very malty and sweetish aroma, notes of caramel and oak. Malty flavour, medium sweet, with notes of caramel and brown bread. Rich mouthfeel. Tastes more like a dunkler bock than a dunkelweizen. Pretty good stuff. |
