On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Lovely aroma of tropical fruits and spruce / pine. Distinctly hoppy flavour throughout, on a moderately sweet background. Citrussy and resinous notes, bitter finish. Good stuff.

500 ml bottle at the Flying Horse, Gatwick Airport. ABV is 5%. Golden colour, sparkling, moderate white head. Aroma of cider apples with some strange and unusual notes, hints of decaying fruits and wet basement. Sweet flavour of eating apples, not very crisp at all. I declined the bartender's offer of some ice in the glass, I should have accepted. Did not finish the bottle. Won’t buy again.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden to copper colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Moderate aroma of malts, whisky, oak and vanilla. Medium sweet flavour of malts, caramel, toffee, fudge, whisky, oak, raisins and vanilla, some very moderate hops in the finish.

500 ml clear bottle, as Belhaven Black Scottish Stout, from a potential importer. ABV is 4.2%. Very dark ruby to mahogany colour, moderate beige head. Weak aroma but not unpleasant, hints of fruit and weak coffee. Fizzy mouthfeel, light bodied. The medium dry flavour has mild roasty notes, mild coffee and grain. Again: not unpleasant, but too little of everything. The 7% Scottish Stout is far better.

500 ml clear bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5%. Drunk a bit too cold. Ruby colour, moderate off-white head. Nice malty aroma, notes of caramel and treacle, a hint of oak and mild spices. Malty and sweet flavour, low bitterness. Strong notes of caramel and treacle. Quite nice beer, if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth.

375 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5%. Very pale straw colour, slightly hazy. Huge white head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of spicy saison yeast and some fruit. The flavour is spicy / yeasty and citrussy, mid between dry and sweet. Moderate hops. Fairly refreshing.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 7.5%. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Sweetish aroma of herbal candy and liquorice candy, some Christmas spices. Malty sweet flavour with plenty of caramel, brown kandij sugar syrup and warming Christmas spices. Quite tasty, and very "Christmasy", despite becoming available here in March

The flavour has some sweetness with hints of said fruits, also notes of witbier yeast, bitter orange peel and coriander seeds, followed by distinct but still moderate bittering hops, well balanced.

Aroma of fruity and piney American hops, also hints of brown bread, caramel malts and chocolate malts. Slightly dry flavour of lightly roasted malts, chocolate, roasted nuts, brown bread and fruity and piney hops.

Nice wheaty flavour too, a slight sweetness but not too much, again with cloves, citrus and banana. Moderate hops. Might well buy again.

Pleasant malty aroma, notes of caramel, fresh bread and pastry, hints of dark berries. Malty flavour too, some caramel but not too sweet, very moderate earthy hops. A true Scottish Ale. Will buy again.

Citric flavour, minimal coriander, minimal hops. Drinkable, but far from the best witbier I've had. Won't buy again.

Distinct and pleasant fruity / citrussy hops in the aroma, also spicy hints. The flavour has also distinct fruity, spicy and piney hops, with a bitter finish. A typical "India Pale Lager", blindfolded I might even have guessed an IPA, certainly not much "pils" about this one. .

Sample on tap at What’s Brewing BF, Stavanger. A run of the mill pale ale (which is not necessarily a bad thing, as I love pale ales), appeared more American than English to me. Very drinkable, but not particularly exciting.

Shared 330 ml bottle. Very dark brown to black colour, moderate beige head. Moderate roasty and malty notes in the dryish aroma, a hint of cocoa too. Thin mouthfeel. Dry roasty flavour, okay but not remarkable.

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Very dark ruby colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of moderately roast malts, only hints of vanilla and orange peel. Slightly sourish flavour with moderately roast malts, slightly dry. Hints of orange peel, surprisingly little vanilla for a beer called "vanilla porter". Very moderate hops.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Jørpeland. Cloudy golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, notes of citrus, pine and spruce, some spicy notes too. Soft carbonation. The flavour has first a slight sweetness, then grapefruity and resinous hops take over the show, and last through the long and bitter aftertaste.
