February 2022: 440 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Unusual aroma elements (the pandan, probably, which I am not familiar with), coconut and vanilla, only a hint of citrus / lemongrass. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour is very sweet, with loads of roast malts, dark syrup, sweetened coconut / Bounty chocolate and vanilla. Only a hint of lemongrass, the bitterness is low.

Aroma of dark malts, prunes, dark chocolate, caramel, some vinous hints. Flavour with the same elements (but no vinous hints here), also mild coffee, moderate hops in the finish. Okay.

330 ml bottle, as Kwaremont Pittig Blond (Bavik is no longer part of this beer's name), from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.6%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup, stewed yellow plums and mild spices. The moderately sweet flavour has the same elements, spicy and hoppy finish, decent bitterness. Nice beer.

Medium sweet flavour, distinct cherries and marzipan, moderate notes of chocolate. Low bitterness. Not your typical quad.

May 2024: 330 ml can, from Helgø Meny Stokka. ABV is 0.5%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citrus (lemon, lime and oranges). Flavour of the same fruits, zesty, with a distinct hop bitterness in the finish. Fairly refreshing and drinkable for a n/a radler.

Aroma of citrus, passionfruit and a hint of chili, also hints of banana and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. Flavour of wheat and citrus, hints of passionfruit, banana and cloves, ending in a moderate chili burn.

500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.2%. Clear reddish brown colour, large head, slightly off-white. Aroma of malts, nuts and burnt caramel. The flavour has a moderate but pleasant fruitiness, followed by malty and nutty notes. Moderate bitterness, nice to drink.

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.6%. Copper colour, huge head, slightly off-white. Malty and nutty aroma, hints of burnt caramel and brown bread, distinct earthy hops. The flavour is first moderately fruity and nutty, then the earthy hops take over, and dominate throughout. The final bitterness is fairly moderate, though.

Fairly strong aroma of grassy and herbal hops (First Gold), also hints of honey and cinnamon. The flavour has first medium sweet malts with a hint of toffee and mild spices, immediately followed by a distinct hoppy bitterness, becoming quite sharp throughout the long aftertaste.

Pleasant aroma of mild spices, hoppy notes of citrus and tropical fruits, also notes of oak. Moderately sour flavour, notes of brettanomyces and oak, spicy notes, some fruitiness, medium bitter finish.

Fairly crisp flavour, floral and herbal notes again, a slight malty residual sweetness, moderate to low bitterness. A decent summer refreshment.

The medium sweet flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also some spicy notes from the yeast and herbal hops, and the added coriander, sage and bay laurel leaves.
