Shared 330 ml green bottle at local tasting. Pale golden colour, low white head. Weak sweetish aroma, notes of grass and artificial candy. Bland flavour, but not offensive. No doubt drinkable under the Dominican sun, but far from a great beer.

341 ml bottle, merci to my Quebecois colleague Louis. ABV is 5.3%. Brown colour, minimal off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and over-ripe fruits, just a hint of pepper. Low carbonation. The flavour is distinctly malty, with plenty of caramel, but is not too sweet. A moderate bite of pepper in the finish, becomes very distinct in the aftertaste, and leaves a warming mouthfeel. Moreish.

341 ml bottle, from a Quebecois co-worker. ABV is 5.9%. Pinkish colour, slightly hazy. Very small and shortlived off-white head. Fairly strong wheaty, floral and fruity aroma, notes of lemons and hibiscus, hints of spices. Medium sour and lemony flavour, very refreshing. Mild spices in the finish.

341 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee and caramel, also some vinous notes. The flavour has a well balanced sweetness, notes of roast malts, coffee and dark bitter chocolate, a hint of caramel, also distinct bittering hops. Smooth and pleasant to drink. Excellent beer.

341 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 9%. Hazy yellow colour, moderate white head. Strong aroma of apricots, candy and Belgian ale yeast. Fruity flavour, again notes of apricots and Belgian ale yeast, hints of citrus peel, some hops in the finish. Not a beer I'll bother to buy again.

The flavour is not very sweet, but has plenty of cocoa powder and vanilla, with strong coffee and bittering hops in the finish. No aphrodisiaque effect detected - maybe I am immune?

Aroma of roast malts, caramel, maize, mild coffee and dark chocolate. Light bodied for its strength. Flavour of roast malts, mild coffee, some caramel sweetness, moderate bittering hops.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8,0%, IBU 100. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of American hops, notes of tropical fruits, wood and pine, some malty notes too. The flavour has some malts and caramel sweetness, but is first and foremost hoppy, with fruity and piney notes, and a solid but not too extreme bitterness in the finish. In a blind test i would have guessed that this was a double IPA. Must be one of the better golden lagers I’ve had.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.0%. Nearly clear golden colour, moderate white head. Strong aroma of piney and grapefruity hops, a hint of caramel. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is heavily hopped, but not overdone. Notes of pine needles, resin, grapefruit and bitter Seville oranges. Sufficient malts to balance.

650 ml bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 12.5%. Pitch black colour, moderate to low tan head. Intense roasty aroma, notes of dark bitter chocolate, tar, tobacco, leather and coffee. Same elements in the flavour, intensely tarry and rich, salty finish.

355 ml bottle, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. ABV is 4.9% according to front label, according to rear label (from German importer BraufaktuM) it is 4.6%. BB date 30.07.2013. Malts are Pilsener, Pale (Maris Otter), Münchener, Caramel. Hops are Fuggle, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of caramel, orange marmalade and American hops, also some herbal notes. Smooth mouthfeel and flavour, moderate carbonation. Not too sweet, a little caramel, herbal hops but not very bitter. Not bad at all despite BB date, but will sample again when I get a fresher bottle, might be even better fresh.

Soft mouthfeel. Roasty flavour, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, a slight lactose sweetness, medium bitter finish.

Lovely hoppy aroma of tropical fruits and citrus. The flavour is medium dry with citrussy / grapefruity hops, also hints of tropical fruits, and a fairly bitter finish. Light bodied and refreshing.

Strong aroma of blackcurrants, brettanomyces, oak and lactic acid. Medium sour and fruity flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, lactic acid dominates.

Aroma of smoked malts and bonfires, but not quite as intense as I expected (or feared). The flavour has a moderate malty sweetness with some caramel, and distinct notes of smoked malts and smoked meat. Moderate hops.

The flavour is also malty but not too sweet, with the same elements as the aroma. Moderate hops in the finish. Good body for a 4.2% beer.
