2878 | Carlsberg 1873 Classic | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Same beer as Tuborg Classic. I remember the Danish version as an acceptable lager with some caramel sweetness. Rerate, Norwegian version brewed by Ringnes, 500 ml can: ABV is 4.6%. Golden (deep golden, maybe) colour, moderate white head. Very moderate aroma, hints of malts, boiled vegetables, caramel and dust. The flavour has some malts and a little caramel sweetness, hints of boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Not much to write home about. |

2879 | SPAR Pilsner (Denmark) | Denmark | Pale Lager | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Danish discount pils, brewed for the Spar grocery store chain. Can''t tell the difference between this beer and Star Pilsner + Neptun Pilsner. Are they possibly the same beer with different labels? Anyway, all of them are drinkable only when you''re broke and price is all that matters. (Yes, that HAS happened to me!) |

2900 | Benediktiner Weissbier | Germany | Hefeweizen | 3.4
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (March 30, 2014) 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark, probably at Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 5.4%. BB date 20.07.13. Hazy orange colour, large white head. Smells a bit "off", sweetish notes of malts and caramel, only hints of banana and cloves. The flavour is somewhat better, malty character, not too sweet, but again the typical hefeweizen notes of "banana & cloves" are very subdued. Lacks some of the "freshness" of a better hefeweizen, Might buy a fresher bottle at another occasion, to re-rate. |
