355 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6%. Very dark ruby to mahogany colour, nearly black. Small and shortlived beige head. Weak and uninteresting aroma, a little malts, a hint of chocolate and dust. The dry flavour is not very exciting either, but fairly refreshing. Moderate malts, a hint of chocolate again, also a hint of prunes and liquorice, very mild spices.

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, shared with my son. ABV is 7%. The colour is more red than brown, moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of brettanomyces, red wine and oak, also he expected notes of raspberries, cowberries and sour plums. Sour flavour with the same elements as the aroma.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Black colour, moderate to small tan head. Distinct sweetish aroma of lactose, vanilla, marshmallows, cocoa / chocolate, caramel. Sweet flavour (but not quite as sickly sweet as I feared), with the same elements as the aroma. Minimal hops. Not bad at all, but hardly a beer I'll bother to buy again.

Pleasant aroma of dark malts, black bread, hints of leather, liquorice and dark dried fruits. medium sweet flavour with roasty notes, coffee, dark chocolate and molasses, hints of liquorice. Bought a large bottle in Denmark recently, might rferate soon.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, vintage 2017-2018, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. 260 grams of blackberries / bramble per liter of lambic have been used for this vintage. Slightly hazy peach to red colour, small off-white to pink head. Aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, lemons and oak, also unripe blackberries. Very sour flavour, notes of lemons, brettanomyces, oak and unripe blackberries again. Tart and moderately astringent finish.

Strong and complex funky aroma, brettanomyces galore, oaky and "farmhouse" / horseblanket notes. The flavour is sour / acidic and funky, notes of oak, stale hops and old apple cider.

Sample from 375 ml corked green bottle, at Cardinal’s stand at Øl- og Akevittmessen in Stavanger. Hazy golden colour, fizzy white head. Complex and funky aroma and flavour, fairly acidic, notes of farmhouse and lemons. Proved quite popular at the festival.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Herbarium. ABV is 10%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma of caramel, brown sugar, syrup, dark dried fruits and heather honey, hints of oak and leather. Flavour of the same elements (except the leather), dark dried fruits (including raisins) come up front. Sweet, but not cloying. Moderate hops. A very enjoyable beer.

330 ml can, from Coop Extra Prestemarka, Tau. ABV 4.7%, IBU 25. Slightly hazy deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pine, hints of grapefruit and oranges. The flavour is distinctly piney / resinous and "dusty", with less distinct notes of said fruits. Appears unfresh and unpleasant. Not a beer I'll buy again. A pity Berentsens could not make a better show of it.

500 ml can, as Vieux Bruxelles Kriek, 4.0% ABV. Bought at Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. "Lambic" is not part of the name, actually lambic is not mentioned on the can at all. On the contrary, the can states that this is a top fermented beer, not a spontaneously fermented beer. Beautiful clear deep red colour, moderate off-white head. Distinct aroma of cherries, cherry kernels and almonds. The flavour is sweet and not sour, notes of cherries and almonds again, the mouthfeel is a bit thin.

The flavour is fairly sweet, but not cloying. Distinct notes of chocolate, vanilla, caramel and coffee, dark dried fruits and a little hops in the finish. Moderately warming mouthfeel.

33 cl bottle (as Kasteel Bier Bruin), at Les Moules Belgian restaurant in Prague. Served too cold. Beautiful deep brown to ruby colour. Large head which disappears rapidly. Aroma of dark malts, oak, old sherry, spices and leather. Flavour is very malty and sweet with a warming mouthfeel, elements of Christmas spices and old sherry. Very good. Yummy!

Malty and medium sweet flavour, notes of dark dried fruits, brown sugar and caramel again, also hints of mild spices, chocolate and oak, moderate hops in the finish. Moderately warming mouthfeel. Excellent stuff.
