330 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fresh and pleasant aroma, notes of herbal and slightly spicy hops, on a background of pale malts. The flavour is very fresh and fruity for a lager beer, also herbal and spicy notes. Easy drinking and fairly dry, but not thin - there are sufficient malts around. Has a nice alcoholic punch, but the alcohol does not dominate the flavour. More refined than other Maibocks / heller bocks I’ve had. Pleasant to drink, with food or on its own.

Moderate aroma of malts (including a hint of mild roastiness) and woodwork, hints of herbs. The flavour is malty without being very sweet, again with mild roasty and woody notes, herbal hops and some fruit in the finish. Not bad.

Very pale yellow colour, large white head. Fairly strong sweetish aroma with grassy notes, hints of artificial candy. Soft and bland flavour, a little malty sweetness, hardly any bitterness at all. No offensive side flavours though, if that can make anyone happy.

Shared 330 ml green swingtop bottle, probably from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. BB date August 2013. Pale golden colour,moderate white head. Strong grassy and sweetish aroma. The flavour is fairly dry, with a distinct and sharpish hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

Refreshing flavour, not too sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, also a decent hop bitterness in the finish. Might well buy again, would be great on a warm summer's day.

Fizzy mouthfeel, overcarbonated. Dry flavour with the same elements as the aroma, moderate bitterness, lacks fruitiness.

Aroma of brown malts, caramel, brown bread, stewed prunes. The flavour is not too sweet, and has the same elements as the aroma, moderate hops. Nice to drink.

Malty flavour with toasted brown bread again, but not very sweet. A moderate but nice fruitiness makes the beer very drinkable. Decent bittering hops in the finish.

330 ml clear bottle, from Helgø Meny Bogafjell. ABV is 4.7%. Dirty greyish-orange colour, minimal head that disappears instantly. Aroma of over-ripe and decaying mango and pineapple, hints of vomit. The flavour is moderately sour and quite sweet, with notes of over-ripe mango and pineapple, and lactic acid. Hardly any bitterness, and overall very little here to remind you that this is a beer.

Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. The medium sweet flavour has notes of roast malts, peat smoke, iodine, whisky, oak and decent bittering hops, also fruity hints of prunes and sherry. Well balanced and enjoyable.
