2201 | El Corte Ingles Cerveza Tipo Lager | Spain | Pale Lager | 2.1
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml can, from Super Cor, La Manga. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, low head. The aroma has some malts, otherwise it is "industrial" and uninteresting. The flavour is maltier than the Aliada Tipo Pilsen (which was displayed side by side), and there are some hops in the finish - unfortunately the bitterness is metallic and unpleasant. |

2202 | El Diablo Strong Brew | Indonesia | Lager | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, from a Bali supermarket. ABV is 5%. Golden colour, large white head. Typical industrial lager aroma, some sweetish candy notes, also strong grassy notes, hints of alcohol. The flavour is medium sweetish with tolerable malts, smooth and easy to drink. The hops are very moderate, but there are no offensive side flavours in this beer, and it is actually better than I feared. |

2203 | El Gaitero Sidra (Etiqueta Negra) | Spain | Cider | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml "champagne" bottle, vintage 2008, from Vinmonopolet (bestillingsutvalget). ABV is 7%. Pale yellow colour, pours very fizzy with a big white head that soon disappears. Typical aroma of oxidised cider apples and sulphites. The flavour is very dry and crisp, oxidided cider apples again, slightly astringent finish, moderate sulphites. Does not feel as strong as it actually is. Must be good with food. |

2204 | El Gaitero Sidra Extra (Etiqueta Oro) | Spain | Cider | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml "champagne" bottle, as El Gaitero Sidra Extra, from Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. ABV is 4.8%. Crystal clear very pale yellow colour, pours very fizzy with a big white head that actually lasts a minute. Strong and a bit sharp aroma of sulphites and cider apples. The flavour is medium sweet, with clean notes of both cider apples and sweet eating apples. Just a hint of sulphites in the background. Easy drinking. |

2207 | Elgoods Wenceslas Winter Warmer | United Kingdom | English Barleywine | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Simply called "Elgood’s Winter Warmer" at the festival, and the ABV was listed as 7.2%, not 7.5%, but I take it that this must be the same beer? No other winter warmer is mentioned at the brewery website. The brewery had kept a cask of this winter seasonal for the festival in May. Brown to mahogany colour, minimal carbonation, no head. Caramel, leather and dark fruits in the aroma. Warming mouthfeel, sweet but not cloying. Spices, dark fruits and treacle in the flavour. Hoppy finish. Not bad. |

2211 | Ellezelloise Hercule Stout | Belgium | Imperial Stout | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml swingtop bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 9%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large beige head. Aroma of moderately roasted malts and Belgian ale yeast, notes of mild coffee, hints of chocolate and dark dried fruits. The flavour is sweeter than the aroma made me expect, notes of malt sugar and molasses, hints of caramel and chocolate, roasty coffee notes in the finish, a moderate hoppy and roasty bitterness in the aftertaste. Decent, but a bit too far out on the sweet side for me. |
