On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pale Ale. ABV is 5.8%. Hazy yellow colour, white head. Some fruit in aroma and flavour, but fairly dry, moderate bitterness. Nice enough.

500 ml can, from Seven Cellars. ABV is 6.2%.Cloudy pale yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of citrus / citrus zest, tropical fruits, pine and spruce galore. Citric flavour, not too sweet, plenty of zest, hints of tropical fruits in the background, piney / resinous bitter finish.

500 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Opaque yellow to orange colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of over-ripe tropical fruits and yellow stonefruits, hints of broth and sweat. Medium sweet flavour with notes of said over-ripe fruits. Piney finish, but the bitterness is low. Quite good.

500 ml can, from KWM Wines & Spirits, as Deya Steady Rolling Man Pale Ale. ABV is 5.2%. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of lychee, rambutan and pineapple. Light bodied. Flavour of citrus and said tropical fruits, not too sweet, a little pine in the finish, but a firmer bitterness would not hurt. Still a fairly decent NEPA as it is.

500 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Aroma of pineapple, peaches and various tropical fruits. Light bodied, fizzy mouthfeel. Flavour of pineapple, citrus and tropical fruits, low bitterness, but notes of pine needles in the aftertaste.

750 ml corked bottle, new at Vinmonopolet, as Diabolici, "brewed in BeNeLux for Anthony Martin". Note that it is brewed FOR them, and not BY them, so who the actual brewers are, remains to be investigated. ABV is 8%. This is closer to a tripel, and definitely not a dubbel. Golden colour, huge white head. Moderately spicy aroma, maybe somewhat less sweetish than your average tripel. The flavour is distinctly spicy, with some kandij sugar and a little caramel, but not too sweet. The alcohol is noticeable, but not overwhelming. A quite decent Belgian, but isn’t the idea of another "diabolic" beer name a bit worn out now?

Sampled RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. Brewed in Belgium for Diamond Beer, Helsinki. Yeasty aroma with notes of rotting fruits and barnyard. Light bodied, hints of oak and spices in the flavour. The stronger version (6.5%)must be better.

Brewed for the Finnish market. Sampled RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy brownish colour, decent head. Sweetish aroma, notes of rye bread. Surprisingly light bodied, refreshing but nothing spectacular.

330 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 4.9%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, large and lingering greyish light tan head. Moderate malty aroma with some caramel and spices, some flowery aromatic hops too. Flavour is moderately malty and herbal with moderate hops, a little burnt caramel too. Easy drinking, but not one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Sample on tap at What’s Brewing BF, Stavanger. A standard American IPA with its notes of pine and grapefruit. Good beer, but not so different from other IPAs.

341 ml bottle, from a Quebecois co-worker. ABV is 6.5%. Black colour, low tan head. Strong and pleasant aroma of cocoa and vanilla. The flavour is not very sweet, but has plenty of cocoa powder and vanilla, with strong coffee and bittering hops in the finish. No aphrodisiaque effect detected - maybe I am immune?

The flavour has again notes of citrus and tropical fruits, but also notes of pine needles and a distinct bitterness in the finish.

Fruity flavour, again notes of apricots and Belgian ale yeast, hints of citrus peel, some hops in the finish. Not a beer I'll bother to buy again.

341 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee and caramel, also some vinous notes. The flavour has a well balanced sweetness, notes of roast malts, coffee and dark bitter chocolate, a hint of caramel, also distinct bittering hops. Smooth and pleasant to drink. Excellent beer.

Hoppy flavour, sufficient malts, noticeable alcohol, distinct notes of pine needles and resin, also bitter Seville oranges, ending in a grapefruity and resinous bitterness.

Good beer, but not as outstanding as expected.

The flavour is distinctly malty, with plenty of caramel, but is not too sweet. A moderate bite of pepper in the finish, becomes very distinct in the aftertaste, and leaves a warming mouthfeel. Moreish.

Bottle, 6% ABV, as Dingslebener Lava Schwarzbier, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg, thanks to gunnar. Dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Malty aroma with distinct notes of caramel and bakery, a hint of cola. Relatively sweet and malty flavour with loads of caramel, just a mild roastiness. Some fruit too.
