1751 | Cruzcampo Cerveza Pilsen | Spain | Pale Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml can, bought in Tenerife. Pale golden colour, decent head. Sweetish fruity and grassy aroma, notes of maize (corn) too. Flavour is watery and "neutral" with some tolerable hops in the finish. Acceptable as a thirstquencher, but not much more. |

1755 | Cusquena | Peru | Pale Lager | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, from the very limited foreign beer bar at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival. ABV is 5%. 1756 | Cusquena Negra Dark Lager | Peru | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 2.9
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, as Cusqueña Dark Lager, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.6%. Very dark brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel and brown bread. Sweet and malty flavour - pretty far out on the sweet side, actually. Lots of caramel and syrup notes, hints of dark rye bread. Minimal bittering hops. Worth sampling, but hardly a beer I'll buy again. |

1758 | Cwmbran Crow Valley Bitter | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Copper coloured. Moderate malty aroma. Drier than you expect from a beer this colour. Nice hoppy bitterness. Finished it with my burger & chips - good combo. Review bottle, 2007: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Labeled "real ale in a bottle", so probably NOT pasteurised. ABV is 4.2%. Amber to copper colour, large off-white head. Pleasant fruity aroma, notes of red berries, hints of oak and spices. The flavour is fairly malty with a touch of caramel. Moderate hops. Easy drinking. |

1759 | Cwmbran Plum Porter | United Kingdom | Porter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. British porters often have an aroma and flavour reminiscent of plums, but this one is actually made with real plums. Dark brown colour, moderate tan head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malts, plums/prunes, bakery and mild coffee, hints of smoke. Rounded, smooth and mellow flavour with a very subdued bitterness, notes of gently roasted malts, just a hint of plums. Nice. |

1761 | Dà Rü Premium Beer | United Kingdom | Pale Lager | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 As far as I know, "Da Ru Breweries UK" do not exist as a working brewery. Dà Rü Premium Beer seems to be the conception of a marketing company in Clerkenwell (Dà Rü Beer, 2nd Floor, 145-157 St John Street, London, ECIV4PY, UK), and is obviously contract brewed somewhere - does anyone know exactly WHERE? (Have a look and a laugh at the beer’s ridiculous website: www.darubeer.com ). Apparently aimed at the target group of Asian-British "Bollywood" clubbers. My notes of the beer: 330 ml bottle (picture of scorpion on the label), 4.2% ABV, bought at Cardinal (pub), Stavanger, Norway. Also available in the ICA Middelthon grocery store (Middelthon imported this beer to Norway). Extremely pale yellow colour, large to moderate head. Moderate camphorwood(!) aroma. Flavour is very dry and crisp, unfortunately with a nearly non-existant malty base, and very moderate hops. Some camphorwood notes in the flavour too. |

Sweetish and grassy aroma, some floral notes too. The flavour has a very moderate malty sweetness, with a tolerable hoppy bitterness throughout. Not exceptional, but decent. |

1764 | Dahls Jubileumsøl | Norway | Strong Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, at RBESG 2006. Strong "jubilee beer" from E.C. Dahls Bryggeri in Trondheim, now a Ringnes subsidiary. Golden colour. Strange sickly and moderately hoppy aroma. Flavour is mellow with a moderate maltiness, nothing spectacular. |

1765 | Dahls Julebrygg | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.5%. Copper coloured beer, moderate off-white head. The aroma has some caramel and toffee. Light bodied. The flavour has caramel (with being overly sweet), a hint of spices and a dusty finish. Drinkable, but not remarkable. |

1766 | Dahls Juleøl (klasse D) | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 (330 ml bottle). Beautiful red colour, good thick head. Malty aroma with plenty caramel, hints of Christmas spices. Flavour is not very complex or exciting, mouthfeel a bit watery as expected from a "klasse D" (grocery store version) juleøl. A slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. |

1767 | Dahls Juleøl (klasse F) | Norway | Bock | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (330 ml clear bottle). Pours with a good head, beautiful copper colour. Aroma of caramel, oak and spices. Flavour is malty and a bit alcoholic, more bitterness than most "juleøl" - but not very complex. Quite dry for a juleøl. Aass "klasse F Juleøl" is a better choice. Rerate 2007: More malty sweetness this year, but not overdone like Ringnes Juleøl. Nice. |

1769 | Dahls Sitrus Lite | Norway | Light / Lite Lager | 2.2
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can, from Bunnpris Sand. ABV is 4.3%. Pale and nearly clear golden colour, moderate to small white head. Artificial aroma and flavour of pink grapefruit and blood orange - I'll bet that none of these fruits have been near this beer, though. Citric mouthfeel, low bitterness. Nothing here to please a beer entusiast, but the beer is not undrinkable, as it is wet and cold. In a blind test, I could have guessed that this was a radler / shandy. |

1770 | Dalane Brygghus Bedehusbajer | Norway | Reduced Alcohol | 1.4
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 500 ml bottle, at Gladmatfestivalen 2008, Stavanger. ABV was 2.5%. Brewed with quinoa (Chenopodium). Very cloudy pale brown colour, low head. Looks like unfiltered apple juice. Minimal aroma, some yeast and hints of quinoa. Bland and sweetish flavour of quinoa, rather unpleasant. Quinoa is OK in soft drinks, but not in beer - at least not in this one. Couldn't finish the bottle. Drainpour. |

1771 | Dalane Brygghus Bybrann Classic Ale | Norway | Altbier | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Draught at Gladmatfestivalen 2007, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Dark copper coloured beer, creamy head. Malty aroma with some caramel. Malty and well rounded flavour with a moderate but sufficient bitterness, which becomes very distinct in the finish. |

1772 | Dalane Brygghus Juleøl | Norway | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Brewed in Denmark while Dalane Brygghus are setting up their own facilities. Chestnut coloured beer, moderate tan head. Despite being "inspired by German bocks", it has the strength and flavour of a Münchener dunkel, with Christmas spices added. Nice aroma of caramel malts and Christmas spices. The mouthfeel is somewhat "flat" or even "dead". The flavour is malty with very modest hops, and rather moderate spices. Okay, but lacks the full and rich flavour of the stronger Juleøl that we REALLY want for the Yuletide. |

1773 | Dalane Brygghus Magma Brown Ale | Norway | Brown Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.7%. Dark brown to chestnut colour, large and lasting creamy beige head. Complex aroma of malts, bakery, nuts, some spices, caramel and fruits. The flavour is malty and nutty with some caramel, some fruitiness too, hints of chocolate. Not much bitterness. A good try from Dalane. |

1774 | Dalane Brygghus Påskeøl | Norway | Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but pleasant hoppy aroma. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, but never too bitter, with grapefruity notes and a long hoppy aftertaste. Very good beer! |

1775 | Dalane Brygghus Pilsner | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Gladmatfestivalen 2007, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, creamy head. Moderate but pleasant Saaz aroma. The flavour has a distinct Saaz bitterness from start to finish. Probably the best (or one of the best) pilsener(s) brewed in Norway so far. |
