1403 | Captain Lawrence Captains Reserve Imperial IPA | United States | Imperial IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 1 pt. 9 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is not stated on the label. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Intense aroma of fruity and piney American hops. The flavour has loads of piney hops with a massive bitterness, but it is not too extreme (pretty close, though). There is some malty sweetness, but the beer is not as sweet and alcoholic as many other American Imperial IPAs. Good stuff. |

1415 | Carlow Molings Traditional Red Ale / O'Hara's Irish Red | Ireland | Irish Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Chestnut colour, large cream-coloured head, nice lacing. Very moderate aroma of malts and caramel. Malty flavour with some toffee and a noticeable bitterness, but not very complex or remarkable. Drinkable of course, but this is a beer that probably would be a lot better if cask or bottle conditioned. It’s not, which makes it not that much better than "average". |

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Colour is black (= very dark brown), very good and creamy tan head, leaves a nice lacing. Lovely roasted coffee-like aroma with notes of unrefined cane sugar. Flavour is all roast barley with coffee notes, not particularly complex but still very good. Dry aftertaste. An excellent alternative to GBM (Guinness/Beamish/Murphy’s). |

1418 | Carlow O'Hara's Double IPA | Ireland | Imperial IPA | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 April 2014: 500 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 7.5%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish notes of caramelized orange marmalade, crystal malts and citrussy and piney American hops. Medium sweet flavour, with the same elements as in the aroma. A little less sweetness and even more hops would be nice, but this is still not a bad shot at an "American" IPA. |

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 Same beer as Tuborg Classic. I remember the Danish version as an acceptable lager with some caramel sweetness. Very moderate aroma, hints of malts, boiled vegetables, caramel and dust. The flavour has some malts and a little caramel sweetness, hints of boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Very moderate aroma, just a hint of berries and earthy hops. Tolerably decent flavour, not much of an IPA, but may pass as a pale ale. Moderate fruity and earthy hops, hints of toffee. 1425 | Carlsberg Capo | Denmark | Fruit Beer | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Bottle, bought in Denmark. Looks like a pale raspberry soda. Strong initial carconation, but hardly any head. Very light fruity aroma, light bodied despite the high ABV, refreshing but no real substance or aftertaste. No, Carlsberg - this is not what the world needs. Let's have Wiibroe Imperial Stout Porter* back, you m******f*****s (*which we eventually had). |
