1351 | Cairngorm Black Gold | United Kingdom | Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 Feb. 2016: 500 ml bottle, from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 28. April 2014. ABV is 4.4%. Black colour, moderate but lasting tan head. Sweetish malty and lightly roasty aroma, more malts and caramel than coffee, also notes of chocolate and vanilla. Smooth flavour, delightful lightly roasted quality malts, some sweetness but not too much, notes of chocolate, toast and mild coffee, moderate hops. Definitely a beer I’d buy again. |

1354 | Cairngorm Trade Winds | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 4.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Golden colour, moderate natural carbonation. Lovely INTENSE hoppy aroma - fruits (citrus), honey, flowers. Flavour is extremely pleasant and well balanced with a citrussy hoppiness throughout. One of the best session beers I’ve had. |

1355 | Cairngorm Wee Murdoch | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (Cask conditioned). Sampled at the Wear Valley CAMRA beer festival. (Room temperature, low natural carbonation). Copper coloured. A Scottish "heavy" like it should be. Good, but not so very special. Aviemore brewery changed its name in 2001 to Cairngorm brewery. Cairngorm also brew Tomintoul beers. |

1356 | Cairngorm White Lady | United Kingdom | American Wheat | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Allegedly a Bavarian style wheat beer, but it is brewed with orange peel and coriander, like a Belgian witbier. Nearly clear deep golden to amber colour, small white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread, hints of over-ripe red fruits. The flavour is moderately malty and fruity, with red and dried fruits more than citrus. Moderate hops. Pleasant to drink. Tastes like a decent English bitter more than anything wheaty. I rate beers on a hedonistic scale, and liked this one - if I rated by style, it would fail. |

1358 | Caledonian 80 | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 Rerate bottle, pasteurised: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal, Stavanger. Amber to brown colour, large off-white head. Moderate malty aroma, slightly sourish. Flavour is also moderately malty with low bitterness, fairly dry. Mouthfeel is "dusty" and slightly sourish, not very rich. Drinkable, but better cask conditioned. Original rating: Sampled cask conditioned in Scotland. Copper coloured. Smooth and pleasant Scottish "heavy". Nice malty aroma and flavour. I'm ready for another one any time. |

1359 | Caledonian Deuchars IPA | United Kingdom | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Sampled cask conditioned in Scotland. This is a very pleasant and refreshing British IPA / golden ale, with numerous CAMRA awards. Moderate ABV. Not over-hopped like American IPAs, but a popular and very nice pint indeed. Rerate bottle, ABV 4.4%: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal, Stavanger. Golden to amber colour, decent lasting head. Pleasant hoppy aroma with fruity notes (citrus, pineapple). Flavour is moderately hoppy and refreshing, grapefruity in the finish. Not quite as good as the the cask version, but even from a pasteurised bottle it is a pleasant session beer without any obvious flaws. |

1361 | Caledonian Golden Promise | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. I haven't had the bottled version yet, but it is reported to be somewhat different. ABV of the cask version is 4.4%. Golden colour. Flowery and candy-like aroma. Light bodied. Would benefit from a cooler serving temperature than was the case at the IBF. Flavour is moderately hoppy, would no doubt be refreshing if served cooler. As it was, it lacked some "freshness". Dry finish. BTW, it’s organic - "suitable for vegans" = no animals killed for the purpose of brewing this beer. Nice to know before you order your plate of bangers & mash. |

1368 | Cambridge House Abijah Rowe IPA | United States | IPA | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask (gravity dispense) at the GBBF 2008. ABV was said to be 6.5%. Deep golden colour, no head. Very nice aroma of distinctly fruity hops, notes of blackcurrants. Distinctly hoppy flavour with an assertive bitterness, notes of pine / resin and some grapefruit. Good beer, but I’d like even more fruitiness in the flavour. |

Not much going here in terms of aroma and flavour. Very low bitterness. Slightly dusty aftertaste. Easy drinking. Must be somewhat better cask conditioned? |
