Black colour, moderate tan head. Very nice roasty aroma and flavour, the coffee and coconut are there, but not overdone. Also notes of liquorice and dark chocolate, moderate bittering hops. A fruity hint of prunes. Not too sweet, very well balanced. A very good beer, I hope to see this gem in Norway soon. |

1334 | By The Horns Lambeth Walk | United Kingdom | Porter | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Rerate, 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.1%. There is certainly no lack of carbonation now, the glass fills completely by beige foam, and the dark brown (nearly black) beer appears very slowly. Roasty aroma, notes of coffee, wood and ashes. Dry roasty flavour, but not sourish, notes of coffee, liquorice, wood and charcoal. I’m upping the score several points. Original rating: 330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 5.1%. Black colour, no head nor any carbonation. Roasty dryish aroma with notes of wood and ashes. Sourish flavour with dry roasty notes, again wood and ashes. The lack of carbonation is an obvious fault, but I don’t think this would have been a great beer even with carbonation. |

Sourish / acidic aroma, notes of brettanomyces / farmhouse and vinegar. Fairly sour and acidic / vinegary flavour, with a dry and woody finish. Moderate hops. I’ve had worse beers (also from this brewery), but will hardly buy again. |

1344 | Bzart Single Hop | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 750 ml corked and caged "champagne" bottle, from the Norwegian importer, as Bzart Single Hop Tradition Brut Nature. Apparently Tradition is the hop variety used. ABV is 14%. Does this beer need a split? Hazy golden colour, large white head. Interesting aroma - farmhouse, oak, leather, over-ripe apples, honey. Very sweet and alcoholic flavour, certainly not "brut". Sugar, honey, alcohol, some bittering hops. Unbalanced. Whatever the idea was behind this beer, they did not succeed. |

1346 | Caffreys Irish Ale | Ireland | Irish Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 My can (bought in Norway, ABV 4,8%) says 'Premium Irish Beer', but surely this must be more or less the same thing?? An easily drinkable ale, perhaps not all that much character, but good, GOOD (not great). I don't hate nitro cans, but would like to sample this one on tap. (Maybe I have, without noticing....) Rerate: ABV 4.2% version, 440 ml can says "Premium beer" but this is clearly the same stuff, just a little more watery version. Very smooth. |

1347 | Cains Double Bock Beer | United Kingdom | Doppelbock | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8.0%. Now, an ENGLISH doppelbock, that's not something I see every day! Medium brown colour, not as dark as i expected (the bottle was very dark). Medium sized off-white head. Distinctly malty aroma with loads of caramel, also notes of brown bread and pastry, hints of dark dried fruits. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel, relatively light bodied for an 8% doppelbock. The flavour is malty with caramel again, sweet, but not TOO sweet. There is also a nice fruitiness that helps making the beer very drinkable. Moderate hops in the finish. Maybe not the greatest doppelbock in the world, but definitely a beer I'd buy again. |

Decent enough. |

Moderate aroma of biscuity malts, a little fruit, toffee and "dusty" hops. The flavour has very much the same elements as the aroma. Pleasant to drink, but does not blow your socks off. |
