1226 | Brunehaut Blanche | Belgium | Abbey Dubbel | 3.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.0%. This is an organic beer. Milky / murky pale yellow to brown colour, moderate head that does not last forever. Typical witbier aroma, notes of spices (coriander and cloves) and orange peel. Fizzy mouthfeel (too fizzy for me). The flavour has again coriander and cloves, moderate notes of orange peel. Very moderate hops. Not the best witbier I’ve had. |

1227 | Brunehaut Blonde | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, simply called Brunehaut Blonde, Bière Biologique (Organic Beer), courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Cloudy golden colour, big white head. Moderate wheaty aroma, hints of banana and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately yeasty and slightly citrussy, but otherwise fairly bland. Minimal hops. Not much here to get excited about. The alcohol is well hidden though. |

1228 | Brussels Fruit Beer Apple | Belgium | Fruit Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as Brussels Fruit Beer Appel 100% Natural, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 3.2%. Very pale hazy straw colour, huge white head. Moderate aroma of apple juice, also some "dusty" and wheaty notes, a hint of cloves. Medium sweet flavour of apple juice mixed with wheat beer (cause that is what this beer actually is), just a hint of cloves, no bitterness. Refreshing, but not very interesting. |

1229 | Brussels Fruit Beer Peaches | Belgium | Fruit Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as Brussels Fruit Beer Peaches, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 3.2%. Hazy peach-coloured beer, huge white head. Strong and beguiling aroma of peaches and peach candy. Sweet flavour (too sweet) with notes of canned peaches in light syrup. Not much else than the foamy head here to remind you that this actually is a beer. Still a a tolerable refreshment when you want a fruit drink with little alcohol. |

1230 | Brussels Fruit Beer Red Fruits. | Belgium | Fruit Beer | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, as Brussels Fruit Beer Red Fruits, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 3.2%. Murky red / pink colour, huge pinkish off-white head. Pleasant sweetish aroma of mixed red fruits and berries. Sweet flavour of red fruits and berries again. Not much here to remind you that this a beer, but if you want a fruit drink with little alcohol, this one might be good enough. |

1231 | Bruveris Ingver Alus 10 Gadu Jubilejas Alus | Latvia | Spiced Beer | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml screenprint bottle, bought in Riga. ABV is 4.5%. Filtered, but not pasteurised. Strange pale greyish brown colour, moderate white head. Strong sweetish aroma of malts, ginger, honey and cooked vegetables. I drank it too cold - but found an initially sweetish pale lager flavour with ginger, and a very dry finish with a hint of lemons. Minimal bitterness. Thin mouthfeel. Still quite refreshing and drinkable. |

Copper coloured beer, large off-white head. Malty sweet aroma, notes of brown bread, caramel, molasses and cooked vegetables. Malty and fairly sweet flavour with some roasty and caramel notes, just a hint of ginger. Moderate hops in the finish. Drinkable, but not my favourite Latvian dunkel. |

1233 | Bruveris Kviesu | Latvia | Hefeweizen | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml bottle, bought in Riga. ABV is 3.9%. Unfiltered wheat beer. Cloudy straw coloured beer, moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of butterscotch (diacetyl), caramel and boiled vegetables. The flavour has a certain acidity, notes of green apples, lemons and butterscotch. The most unusual wheat beer I’ve had so far, very far from being a great beer, but quite refreshing after all. |

1234 | Bryghuset Braunstein BB Amber Lager | Denmark | Marzen / Oktoberfest | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Amber colour, slightly hazy. Fizzy head, poor head retention. Nice hoppy aroma, notes of fruit and honey. Fizzy mouthfeel, which takes away some of the drinking pleasure for me. The flavour is reasonably well hopped, hints of caramel, butterscotch and yeast. Possibly a slightly infected bottle. Could have been better, could have been worse. Will try another bottle later. |

Lovely aroma of treacle and butterscotch, notes of rum-drenched fruits. The flavour is rich and malty with loads of caramel, butterscotch and fruit, decent hops in the finish. 1237 | Bryghuset Braunstein BB Økologisk Påske | Denmark | Bock | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle from NETTO, Denmark, as BB Økologisk Påske (= Organic Easter). ABV is 6.5%. Amber colour, large off-white head. Quite nice sweetish aroma of malts, caramel and grassy hops, some fruity hints too. The flavour is moderately malty and slightly sugary with hints of caramel, hints of fruit too, with a very moderate bitterness. Okay, but not impressive. |

1238 | Bryghuset Braunstein BB Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV in Norway is 4.7%. Golden colour, decent head. Relatively strong hoppy and sweetish aroma, notes of flowers and honey. The flavour is fairly malty for a pilsener, some fruit, decent hops throughout. Apparently Braunstein has on some occasion been voted "Denmark’s best pilsener" - I don’t know if that is fully deserved, but this beer is definitely much better than Carlsberg & Tuborg (not to mention the numerous Danish discount pilseners). |

The aroma is very fruity with notes of wine vinegar and yeast, hints of caramel, oak and sweaty feet. The flavour is fairly malty with caramel, candy sugar and some fruit, moderately bitter finish. Not bad, but I’ve had better doppelbocks. |

1240 | Bryghuset Braunstein Heritage 2005 Edition | Denmark | Doppelbock | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, packed in a cardboard cylinder, like a whisky bottle. Bottle No. P 1689, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 11.8%. Very dark reddish brown colour, large tan head. Vinous sweet aroma with notes of raisins, oak, malts, molasses and caramel. The flavour is malty sweet with hints of oak and molasses, surprisingly moderate hops. Too sweet. Not that exciting. Probably better if cellared till 2016? |

1242 | Bucegi 4.2% | Romania | Pale Lager | 1.7
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 I’ve noticed many raters frequently use the term ’bland’ for a lot of beers, appropriate or not. Now listen guys: You don’t fully realize what a ’bland’ beer is before you have sampled Bucegi! A remnant of the communist era, Bucegi was withdrawn from the market in 1995, but re-launched in February 2002, to nourish some Romanians’ nostalgic sentiments of the good old bad old times. |

1243 | Bucegi 5% (2020-2022) | Romania | Pale Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 500 ml can, from a grocery store in Norway - I won't say which one, because the can had a sticker (in German) saying that the ABV is 5%. The max limit for selling alcohol in grocery stores in Norway is 4.75%. Bought in May 2024, so I doubt that the can was as old as 2022, but if that was the last year with 5.0% ABV, so be it. BB date 13.03.2025. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts, hay, honey, flowers and newmown grass. Surprisingly dry flavour, rather "neutral", moderate hops. Not undrinkable. |

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 473 ml can, now unfortunately available in Norway. ABV here is 4.1%. Golden colour, fizzy, moderate head. Surprisingly strong aroma of artifical candy. Fizzy mouthfeel, a little sweetness, no real flavour at all, hardly any traceable hops, no aftertaste. Crap. |

1246 | Buddelship / Mashsee Moonshine Midnight Brew Imperial Pils | Germany | Imperial Pilsener | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.0%. Hops are Callista, Equinox and Willamette. Golden to orange colour, large white head. Distinct and pleasant fruity / citrussy hops in the aroma, also spicy hints. The flavour has also distinct fruity, spicy and piney hops, with a bitter finish. A typical "India Pale Lager", blindfolded I might even have guessed an IPA, certainly not much "pils" about this one. . |
