1201 | Brooklyn East India Pale Ale | United States | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Deep golden colour, big white head. Very nice aroma of fruity hops, hints of spruce. The flavour is definitely hoppy, but less so than most American IPAs. Some sweetness, the alcohol is noticeable. Notes of spruce again, moderate bitterness in the aftertaste. |

1212 | Broughton Scottish Oatmeal Stout | United Kingdom | Oatmeal Stout | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Vinens Verden, Odense, Denmark. Black (= very dark ruby) colour, good tan head. Pleasant aroma: chocolate, roasted barley, coffee, prunes, leather. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, faintly acidic. Mellow flavour of roasted barley / dark malts, low bitterness. Not too much going on flavourwise, does not quite live up to the expectations the aroma creates. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 Draught at Carlsen’s Kvarter, Odense. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Traditional hefeweizen aroma with an unusual hint of vomit and rotting fruits. Flavour is much better than the aroma, but unusually sweet for a hefe, plenty of cloves though. |

1219 | Brøckhouse Juleøl | Denmark | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.4
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 Bottled 2004, 500 ml swingtop bottle (Thanks, JensenTaster!). ABV was 8.3%. Murky dark brown colour, very good & lingering tan head. Lovely aroma of dark malts, dark chocolate, Christmas spices, caramel and candy sugar, hints of cherries. Flavour is very rich & malty with some alcoholic warmth, spices and dark chocolate are present. Plenty of hops (maybe a tad too much?? - or maybe not) in the finish balances the sweetness nicely. This is good. This is very good. Maybe not quite as exquisite flavour as Nøgne Ø God Jul (at least it’s a bit different) - but very, very good. |

1222 | Brunehaut Abbaye de Saint-Martin Brune | Belgium | Abbey Dubbel | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 8%. Mahogany coloured beer, huge beige head. Moderate aroma, notes of caramel, brown malts, brown bread and dust, hints of marzipan. The flavour has notes of brown bread with hints of caramel, but this is probably the driest dubbel I have ever had. Dust in the finish, very moderate hops. The alcohol is well hidden - I would have guessed that this was a 5.5- 6% beer, not 8%. Definitely drinkable, but far from exciting. |

1223 | Brunehaut Abbaye de St-Martin Cuvée de Noël | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). ABV is 8.5%. The beer starts pouring out of the bottle by its own will. Dark chestnut coloured beer, hazy when the yeast is poured in the end. Moderate beige head. Strong aroma of anise, "Christmas" spices and liquorice. The flavour has again notes of anise and various "Christmas" spices. Not too sweet. The alcohol is well hidden. Nice beer, but should not be your first choice if you hate anise. |

This is an organic beer. Milky / murky pale yellow to brown colour, moderate head that does not last forever. Typical witbier aroma, notes of spices (coriander and cloves) and orange peel. Fizzy mouthfeel (too fizzy for me). The flavour has again coriander and cloves, moderate notes of orange peel. Very moderate hops. Not the best witbier I’ve had. |
