Shared 355 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. No ABV mentioned on the label. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of American hops, notes of spruce, citrus and tropical fruits. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, with the same elements as the aroma, but is never too bitter. Just enough malts to make the beer feel tolerably balanced. Very likeable.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.5%. BB date 06-2014. Hazy orange-brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of mild spices, caramel, brown kandij sugar, dark dried fruits, spice cake. The flavour is rich, spicy, full of dark dried fruits, and very pleasant - but not too sweet. Sufficient hops, and dangerously drinkable.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, BB date 07.2013, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of farmhouse kitchen and dry white wine, also hints of tropical fruits. The flavour is medium sweet, maybe not quite as fresh as it ought to be, but still very good. Fruity / citrussy and mildly spicy notes. Enjoyable, will buy again, and sample when fresher.

Moderate wheaty aroma, just a hint of banana and cloves. Light bodied, plenty of carbonation. The flavour has distinct notes of cloves, hints of banana and bubble gum. Not too sweet. Drinkable, but the Germans do it better.

Sweet flavour (too sweet, maybe), hints of pineapple, with a moderate but distinct grapefruity and resinous bitterness in the finish.

330 ml bottle, from Bestofbeers, Denmark. ABV is 9.4%. Black colour, small beige head. Aroma of roast malts, prunes, oak, some vinous hints. Moderate carbonation. Flavour of roast malts, a moderate residual sweetness, hints of chocolate and liquorice, the finish lacks bitterness. Half-decent, not world class.

440 ml can, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 6%. Opaque dirty yellow colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of various tropical fruits, also notes of citrus, hints of spruce. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has again notes of tropical fruits and citrus but is not too sweet, also pine needles, moderate bitterness. Good beer.

Febr. 2020: 440 ml can, from Bestofbeers, Denmark. ABV is 6.8%. Hazy orange colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of piney and spicy hops. Dry and slightly sour flavour, some citrus, piney and spicy hops again. I am not sure the sourness was intended (the beer passed its BB date 2 weeks ago), but I kind of like it.

Cask conditioned at the Lord Moon of the Mall, London. Copper colour, low head. Aroma of ripe fruits and malt vinegar. Rather thin mouthfeel. The flavour has some fruit, malt vinegar and moderate hops in the finish. Not impressive.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. DDH pale. Hops are Galaxy, Citra, Amarillo, Comet and Columbus. Opaque yellow colour, large white head. Strong and pleasant aroma of tropical fruits, particularly mango and pineapple, also hints of citrus and sprucetips. Decent mouthfeel for its ABV. Flavour like the aroma, also noticeable bittering hops.

750 ml green "champagne" bottle, as Bøgedal Gylden #1 Bryg No. 225, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 6.5%. Hops are Cascade and Perle. Amber to copper colour, large off-white head. Nice aroma of fruity hops. The flavour is fairly malty with hints of caramel, balanced by decent hops. "Rustic" character. Quite bitter aftertaste.

750 ml corked bottle, as Bøgedal No. 219, from Vinmonopolet Vika, shared with beerpals. ABV was 7.0%. Hops are Perle, Cascade and Celeia (not Centennial and Northern Brewer), so I really think the 219 ought to be listed as a separate beer. Hazy orange-brown colour, large and fluffy head. Fruity, hoppy and herbal aroma. Medium sweet flavour, balanced by distinct hops.

Sample from bottle, Copenhagen Beer Festival. Not in the festival programme, and not mentioned on the brewery website yet. This was a very limited release of a few bottles, in the series of ales brewed with various rare old grain varieties from Nordisk Genbank. I am not entirely sure about the ABV, that may have to be corrected. Cloudy golden colour. Served too warm, but still a very tasty beer. Both aroma and flavour have a very nice and attractive balance between the malts and hops. What a pity that this beer most likely will never be brewed again.

750 ml "champagne" bottle, as Bøgedal No. 173, from Vinmonopolet Valkendorfsgate, Bergen (spesialutvalget). ABV is 6.5%. The cork popped to the ceiling, but the beer did not gush out. Very moderate carbonation in the glass. Very dark brown colour, cloudy, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Very nice aroma of caramel, bakery and spices, hints of liquorice. The flavour is "christmasy" with notes of caramel malts and season’s spices, also notes of chocolate, mild coffee and liquorice. Moderate but noticeable hops. Quite good.

Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. XO cognac coloured. Aroma of oak and dried fruits, some peppery notes too. Flavour is a bit oaky with low bitterness, a bit thin mouthfeel. Relatively dry.

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting, as Bøgedal #71. Dark ruby colour, nearly black. Large tan head. Vinous aroma, some roasty notes. Malty sweet flavour, plenty of caramel, some complexity. Not bad.

Sampled bottle, RBNAG 2007 in Grimstad, as Bøgedal No. 97. The ABV was 5.0%. Labeled "Lys, perle, citronmelisse". Golden colour. Fizzy mouthfeel. Light bodied, with a hint of citrus in aroma and flavour.

500 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 5.2%. Brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. The aroma has notes of brown malts, toffee and nuts. Also hints of wood and "dusty" hops. The flavour has a nice malty character throughout, but is not very sweet. Notes of brown malts and nuts, hints of fruit, very moderate but noticeable hops in the finish. Drinks well. At least it is better than Newcastle Brown Ale.

500 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 7.4%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Spicy, yeasty and fruity aroma, hints of oranges and coriander. The flavour is medium sweet (maybe a tad too sweet), spicy and fruity notes again, hints of alcohol. Moderate hops. Fairly decent, but not the best triple in the world.
