951 | Black Isle Organic Blonde | United Kingdom | Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 Shared bottle at hotel room tasting. Pale golden colour. Moderate malty and sweetish aroma. Revoltingly sweet flavour. No no no. Will re-rate if I get a new sample (somewhat colder) for free, but no way I’m going to pay money for this. |

953 | Black Isle Organic Scotch Ale 6.8% | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml can, as Black Isle Organic Scotch Ale, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Dark reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brittle, blackberries and blackcurrants, over-ripe red berries, some earthy hops. The flavour has also notes of malts and caramel, but is not too sweet. Again notes of brittle, hints of berries, distinct earthy hops in the finish. |

954 | Black Isle Organic Yellowhammer | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, at The 78, Glasgow. My notes say "Black Isle Organic Yellowhammer IPA, ABV 4.5%" - but I might have been "under the influence" ... Deep golden colour, large and lasting head. Unusual fruity aroma, very complex. The mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin - I drank it too cold though. Reasonably fruity and hoppy flavour, but not very exciting. |

959 | Black Rooster Stout Oak’n Islay Edition | Denmark | Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 00 ml bottle, as The Black Rooster Stout Oak’n Islay Edition, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.7%. Pitch black colour, large to moderate brown head. Nice aroma, roasty, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, tar, liquorice, Islay whisky with notes of peat smoke, oak, vanilla, sea water and old rope. The flavour is medium sweet (or medium dry, if you like), with strong notes of peat / smoke, ashes, Islay whisky and roasted malts / coffee. A slight unwanted acidity and some salty notes. The hops are quite moderate. |

960 | Black Sheep Ale | United Kingdom | Extra Special Bitter | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, as "Black Sheep Ale" ("Black Sheep Special Ale" is the cask version of the same beer). Amber colour, moderate fluffy head. Aroma of toffee / caramel and dried fruits, hints of barnyard. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, moderate flavour of dusty malts and hops. A bit too carbonated for my taste. |

962 | Black Sheep Emmerdale Ale | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV on the label is 4.2%, also confirmed by the brewery website. (ABV of the cask version is also the same.) Clear amber colour, large off-white lasting head. Moderate carbonation. Moderate but pleasant hoppy aroma, hints of fruits, oak and leather. Flavour is mildly spicy and fruity, slightly acidic. Tolerable hops in the finish. Refreshing and easy drinking. Not too bad for a pasteurised moderate-ABV bitter. |

964 | Black Sheep Monty Pythons Holy Grail | United Kingdom | Extra Special Bitter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). I’m a big fan of Monthy Python movies, which, however, is irrelevant when sampling this beer. Inside the gimmicky bottle is a decent English bitter, and decent English bitters are always welcome in my home (no cask ales available around here, I’m afraid). Colour is deep golden, pours with a good head which leaves a nice lacing. Decent hoppy aroma (oranges and some toffee), flavour has sufficient malts and a pleasant hoppiness that lasts through the long aftertaste. Maybe not a true masterpiece, but a nice beer indeed! |

965 | Black Sheep Respire | United Kingdom | IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Birk Bryggeriutsalg, Klepp. ABV is 4.0%. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of citric and herbal hops, malts and grain too. The flavour is also citric and herbal, on a sufficient malt base. Bitter aftertaste. Not bad for 4.0% beer. |

966 | Black Sheep Riggwelter | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Beautiful dark reddish brown colour, large head. Fine aroma of oak, toffee, dark chocolate and Colombian coffee beans. Full malty flavour with a little alcoholic bite, but not too much. Roasted notes, hints of English liquorice, bitter dark chocolate and smoke. The long aftertaste has strong black coffee notes with a hoppy bite. This is a first class beer! You'll need more than one to make you a "ryggvelter", though. Baaah! |

968 | Blackawton Headstrong | United Kingdom | Extra Special Bitter | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Oops - forgot to write in the ABV when I added this beer to the database: It's 5.2% (described as "deceptively strong" by the brewery - but then, the English are used to cask bitters at 3.8%). Sampled cask conditioned at the Wear Valley CAMRA beer festival. (Room temperature). Golden coloured strong bitter, rather heavily hopped. |

969 | Blanche de Bruxelles Manneken Pis | Belgium | Witbier | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Draught in Nice, France, as "Bière Blanche de Floreffe". Served with a quarter slice of lemon, which I instantly pulled out of the glass. Hazy pale colour. Pleasant lemony aroma, some spice too. Moderate citrussy flavour, faint notes of coriander. Drinkable and refreshing, but not a "big" beer |

970 | Blanche de Namur | Belgium | Witbier | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Draught in Aarhus, Denmark. Pale golden milky colour, low head. Typical witbier aroma and flavour of orange peel and coriander, but there’s also a sufficient base of wheat malts and hops to support it. Well balanced, smooth and very pleasant and refreshing to drink. Not a beer that pops up and says BOOH! - but a very nice one all the same. |

975 | Blue Anchor Spingo IPA | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Allegedly "brewed in some of the oldest brewery equipment in the UK, possibly some of the oldest in Europe". This should suggest that this beer is now again brewed in the refurbished Blue Anchor brewery, not at Keltek. The festival programme also lists it as brewed in the Blue Anchor. Golden colour. Hops and malt vinegar in the aroma, hints of cowshed. Decent hoppy flavour, but honestly: not that much out of the ordinary. |
