6780 | Vestfyen Fyensk | Denmark | Smoked Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 At Copen hagen Beer Festival, as Vestfyen Fyensk Røgøl. With 100% smoked malts, whereof 50% barley and 50% wheat, I assume this must be pretty close to a traditional Grätzer? Cloudy golden colour. Smoky aroma, notes of smoked sausages. Refreshing wheaty and smoky flavour, light bodied. The hoppiness is not as distinct as promised, but sufficient. |

6781 | Vestfyen Julebryg | Denmark | Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Take an American standard with its corn sweetness, add a little more hops + alcohol and just a touch of spicyness (nutmeg?) - and you have this "Yule/Christmas brew". Not nearly as bad as I expected, this is still far from the quality of a Norwegian "klasse F" Christmas beer. I have no idea why they imported this stuff to Norway - in Denmark at least it's cheap, here it's expensive. |

6782 | Vestfyen Malt Øl | Denmark | Reduced Alcohol | 2.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, from Superbrugsen, Skødstrup. ABV is 1.8%. Ingredients include glucose syryp and colour (E 150c). Very dark brown to ruby colour, big and creamy tan head. Sweetish aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread and syrup. The flavour is very malty, very sweet, with loads of caramel and syrup - but amazingly pleasant to drink. Hardly any bitterness. A flavourful beer with minimal alcohol, in the Danish "mørkt hvidtøl" tradition - a nice "change of pace"-beer when you have to drive afterwards. |

6783 | Vestfyen Nat Expressen | Denmark | Vienna / Amber Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 Amber colour, moderate head. Corn and hops aroma. Light bodied, but a distinct unpleasant bitterness. Funny name = 'The Night Express Train' probably suggests that this beer is a fine night cap and will put you to sleep nicely. For sure, the flavour is no reason to keep you up. You might as well go to sleep. Good night! |

6784 | Vestfyen Pilsner | Denmark | Pale Lager | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Typical Danish discount "pilsner" / pale lager. I don't know what sets it apart from the Krudtugle Pilsner, but they appear to be different beers. I really can't remember anything special about this one. That probably says it all. Typical run-of-the-mill industrial pale lager, but not remarkably offensive either. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml shared bottle, as Vestfyen Pale Ale, thanks to abemorsten. ABV is 6.5%. Orange to red colour, low head. 6788 | Vestfyen Willemoes Porter | Denmark | Baltic Porter | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 9.8%. Ingredients include artificial colour (hm ...) E 150 c, liquorice and anti-oxidant E 300. Black colour, big tan head. Moderate aroma of roasted malts, caramel and some fruit. The flavour is fairly sweet with plenty of caramel and liquorice, while the roastiness and hops come through in the finish. Notes of dark dried fruits too. Roasty aftertaste. Overall too much caramel, but a nice Baltic porter all the same. |

6789 | Vestfyen Willemoes Stout | Denmark | Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 6 (500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV was 6.0%). Very dark reddish brown colour, moderate tan head. Moderate coffee aroma. Flavour and aftertaste is lightly roasted coffee and wet cardboard with a hint of damp basement and catpiss. I’m not particularly fond of wet cardboard and catpiss. I’d probably still prefer this beer to Vestfyen’s Pilsner, but that doesn’t take much. As far as stout goes, there are better alternatives. |

6791 | Viborg Imperial Stout | Denmark | Imperial Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500 ml bottle, batch 22, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 8.0%. Pitch black colour, big to moderate tan head. Moderate but nice aroma of roasted malts, notes of coffee, hints of liquorice and smoke. Full and rich mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly sweet and malty, roasty notes of course, some caramel, tar, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and smoke again - but not quite as much peat smoke as expected, and that’s quite alright with me. A lovely drop! |
