6301 Syndikatet Elskerinden / The Mistress Denmark Imperial Stout 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

January 2020: 500 ml bottle, from Skjold Burne Hjørring. ABV is 10%, IBU 50. Hops are Magnum and Mosaic. Black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roast malts, mild coffee, vanilla and lactose. Sweet flavour with the same ingredients, very distinct chocolate, vanilla and lactose, also caramel. Maybe too sweet? Roast malts, coffee and bittering hops in the aftertaste.

6302 Syndikatet Jongløren Mango IPA Denmark Fruit Beer 2.5

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 4

330 ml bottle, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 5.0%, IBU 35. Nearly clear golden colour, moderate white head. "Artificial" mango aroma. The flavour is not very sweet, but has "artificial" mango notes again, followed by a distinct sharpish, metallic and medicinal bitterness. Unbalanced, won't buy again.

Sep. 2019: 500 ml bottle, from Erling Christensen Møbler, Sindal. ABV is 5.0%, 20 IBU. Hazy golden colour, lots of floaties in the glass. Large white head. Moderate wheaty and citrussy aroma with orange peel and coriander. The medium dry flavour has distinct notes of coriander, also cloves, moderate hops. Nice to drink. *Sampled again today, 330 ml bottle, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. No floaties in the glass this time, otherwise much the same.

6305 Syse Gard Aroma Norway Cider 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

750 ml clear screwcap bottle, vintage 2020, from the cidery. ABV is 9%. Clear and pale golden colour, this is a still cider, but there is a slight sparkle when pouring. Aroma of the Aroma apple variety. Semi dry flavour of Aroma apples. A bit one-dimensional, but nice.

6306 Syse Gard Kjedlar Norway Cider 3.4

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

750 ml clear screwcap bottle, vintage 2020, from the cidery. ABV is 9%. Apple variety is Gravenstein. Clear pale golden colour, no head, still cider, hardly any carbonation. Typical and very nice aroma of Gravenstein apples. Dry flavour of said apples, hints of sulphites. Okay, but I'd like some carbonation.

6307 Syse Gard Sumar Norway Cider 3.4

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

750 ml clear screwcap bottle, vintage 2020, bought at the cidery. Made from the apple variety Summerred. Very pale straw colour, pours slightly sparkling, nearly still in the glass. Very nice aroma of Summerred apples, which also is a good variety for eating or juice / must. Also a hint of sulphites. Dry flavour, probably good with food, some tannins, but I'd prefer it sparkling.

6308 t IJ Natte Netherlands Abbey Dubbel 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. The beer is quite clear reddish brown when poured, a slight haziness may occur if the sediment is disturbed in the end, decent head. LOVELY aroma with intense fruity an vinous notes, spices are very much present too. The flavour is also fruity and spicy but not very powerful, hints of caramel. Moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness. A slightly salty finish. Light bodied, the ABV is well hidden. Easy drinking. The aftertaste is not remarkable.

6309 t IJ Paasij Netherlands Belgian Ale 4.1

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

This Easter brew is one of the best Dutch beers I've had, even if the "style" isn't my definite favourite. Had it on tap in Amsterdam, very enjoyable indeed. Pleasant spicy aroma with hints of leather and wood, the yeast is not as dominant as with some other beers of this style. Some sweetness in flavour and aftertaste, but not too much. Apparently this is a "you either like it or you don't"-beer. And I like it!

Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, not as pale and milky as other witbiers, big to moderate white head. Nice aroma and flavour of coriander, cloves and orange peel. Very drinkable, despite its higher ABV.

6311 t IJ Turbock Netherlands Belgian Strong Ale 3.7

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

I had this beer at Café t'Arendsnest in Amsterdam (bottled - is it available on tap at all??). Cloudy brown colour, strong and powerful, warming mouthfeel. Flavourful, yeasty, heavy carbonation. It is not a bad brew, but I find the yeast flavour too dominant to give it a definite top rating.

6312 t Smisje Catherine The Great Imperial Stout Belgium Imperial Stout 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

330 ml stubby bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 10%. Dark brown colour, but far from black. Big beige head. Very malty aroma with notes of brown bread and caramel, only mild roasty notes. The flavour is also malty and medium sweet with caramel and just some mild roasty notes, bitter hops in the finish and aftertaste. Alcohol is noticeable but not disturbing. Probably the weirdest "imperial stout" I’ve had, but if you disregard the anticipations created by the style name, the beer is decent enough to drink. A new style perhaps? - "Imperial Belgian Brown Ale"?

6313 Taj Mahal India Pale Lager 2.6

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Brewed and bottled by Blossom Industries, India (trade mark owner: United Breweries, Bangalore). Imported to Norway by ITG. Golden colour, moderate head. Flowery aromatic hops, maybe some citrus too. Standard pale lager flavour without any offensive sidenotes, rather fizzy but with tolerable hops for the style. I’ll admit that my expectations were very low, but for an Indian pale lager this one is not too bad. At least it will be a tolerable accompaniment with your curry.

330 ml bottle, as Tamamura Honten Wheat Wine of Shiga Kogen. ABV is 9.5%. Hazy brownish golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma with notes of marzipan, candy, caramel, alcohol and decaying fruits. Strong sweetish aroma of kandij sugar syrup, Belgian ale yeast, caramel and dark dried fruits, hints of spices. The flavour is distinctly spicy, and not as sweet as I feared. Notes of cinnamon, chamomile, nutmeg, cardamom and coriander seeds. Herbal hops in the finish. Unusual, and quite good.

500 ml, bottle conditioned. Dark brown colour, no head, minimal carbonation. Delightful, intense and complex aroma with strong fruity and roasty notes - plums, prunes, coffee, chocolate, leather. Also hints of oak and spices. Nutty and roasty flavour with a pronounced bitterness from the roastiness and the hops. Hoppy bitter finish / aftertaste. Interesting beer, even historically.
