6257 | Svaneke Ale | Denmark | Amber Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.6%. Amber colour, large head, slightly off-white. Fairly strong aroma of grassy and herbal Hallertauer hops, a hint of honey. The flavour has a decent balance between the malts and hops, with herbal and honeyish notes, also some caramel, but the beer is not too sweet. Moderate Columbus hops in the finish. Not bad. |

6258 | Svaneke Bornholmer Bryg Skipper Clements American Pale Ale | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Unfiltered APA. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate carbonation. The aroma has notes of fruity American hops, but unfortunately also strong and disgusting notes of vomit. The flavour has moderate but decent hops throughout, but lacks a bit of malty backbone. Bitter aftertaste. What a pity about the aroma! A bad bottle? If that was the case, I’d think the flavour would be flawed too? |

6259 | Svaneke Bornholmerbryg Gammeldags Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Like all Svaneke / Bornholmer Bryg beers it is unfiltered, but the bottles are now pasteurised. (The beers are still available unpasteurised on tap in the brewpub.) Pale yellow colour, hazy. Large and lasting head. Pleasant aroma and flavour of flowery and fruity hops (3 different kinds are used, they don’t say which ones, my guess is Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Tettnang and Spalt), there is a subtle base of pilsener malts, hints of honey. Some bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel, very pleasant to drink. A pilsener well above average. |

6261 | Svaneke Bryghus Påskebryg | Denmark | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, available in Norway at Vinmonopolet (partiutvalget). This unfiltered beer is slightly hazy, pale golden colour. Huge and lasting white head. Strong flowery aroma of aromatic hops, notes of honey and grass too. Nice. Flavour is fairly sweet, notes of honey and caramel, but the beer is still fairly light bodied and refreshing. A faint hoppy bitterness in the finish. A little more bittering hops would have been nice, though. |

6262 | Svaneke Bryghus Sweet Mary | Denmark | Doppelbock | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 7.9%. Unfiltered. Dark brown colour, big beige head. Pleasant sweetish aroma with notes of malts, loads of caramel and old sherry or port. Hints of oak and leather. Sweet malty flavour, notes of oak, old sherry or port again, plenty of caramel but the sweetness is not cloying. Very moderate hops, a little more would not hurt. Still, a reasonably good beer as it is. |

6263 | Svaneke Byens Ol | Denmark | Vienna / Amber Lager | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Bottle conditioned, 700 ml. ABV is 5.8%. Cloudy brown colour, moderate head. Interesting aroma and flavour: caramel and toffee but not really sweetish, spices (cardamom, white pepper, salt of hartshorn), some alcoholic bite but not too much. Hoppy bitterness in the finish leaves a nice aftertaste. Good beer! |

Hazy brown colour, moderate head of good retention. Aroma of brown malts and caramel, also some fruity notes. 6268 | Svaneke Jule Spektakel | Denmark | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. After reading the commercial description, my expectations were high, but the beer did not quite live up to them. Reddish brown colur, but paler than expected. Moderate malty aroma, some caramel. Did not get much of the promised complexity. The flavour has some malts and caramel, a little fruit, a little spiciness - but too little of everything. Drinkable of course, but I want something better than this for the Yuletide. |

6270 | Svaneke Liquorice Stout | Denmark | Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought by my wife on the DFDS ferry Oslo - Copenhagen. ABV is 6.0%. Opaque black colour, big tan head. Nice aroma of liquorice (no surprise), moderately roasted malts and coffee, also distinct notes of smoke. The flavour has distinct notes of liquorice, but the beer is not too sweet. Also notes of moderately roasted malts and mild coffee, just a hint of smoke. A hint of chili in the finish. A quite nice and drinkable stout, but if you hate liquorice, this is obviously not the beer for you. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from NETTO, Denmark. ABV is 5.0%. Golden colour, large white head. Fresh aroma of grassy and piney hops, a hint of peaches. Excellent hoppy flavour, piney notes, just a hint of peaches. The bitterness seems just right. Possibly the best Danish pilsener I’ve had so far, way above the macros. |

6273 | Svatý Norbert Tmavé 14% | Czech Republic | Schwarzbier | 4.6
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Draught at the brewpub/restaurant at the monastery. Dark brown, nearly black colour. Thick creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, some leather, hints of treacle. Solid flavour of roasted malts and coffee, notes of dark bitter chocolate. Reminds me of a Baltic porter. Dry bitter aftertaste from the roastiness and hops. A very good beer - good enough to make me go back the next day for more! By the way - the brewery restaurant serves decent food too. |

6274 | Svatý Norbert Velikonoèni 14% | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Draught. I had this Easter special lager at the brewery outdoor restaurant at the beautiful Strahov Klaster (monastery) in Prague. Beer was served too cold, but improves as it warms up. Cloudy golden to amber colour, large creamy head. Slightly yeasty aroma, some malts, hops and caramel too. Decent flavour, nice hoppy bitter finish. |

6275 | Svijanska Knezna 13% | Czech Republic | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Typical dunkel reddish brown colour, large lasting off-white/beige head. Moderate malty aroma, notes of caramel and leather, maybe some dark fruits too. Low carbonation, a bit thin mouthfeel, malty sweet with notes of molasses, minimal bitterness. Nice enough to drink, but I’d really like some more hops to balance the sweetness. Must be another beer for the target group "convalescents and nursing mothers". |
