6078 | Spendrups Old Gold | Sweden | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml stylish bottle (new design), courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7% (ABV possibly adapted to Norwegian regulations). Pale yellow colour, big white head. Grainy aroma, also some sweetish vegetable notes. Moderate carbonation in the glass, soft mouthfeel. Acceptable flavour of pilsener malts and moderate hops (though I might still have been under the influence of the long hoppy aftertaste of my previous beer, BrewDog 77 Lager). Anyway, Old Gold Premium Pils has no noticeable off-flavours, and is far from undrinkable. Don’t expect anything exciting, though. |

6079 | Spendrups Premium Lager 2.1% | Sweden | Reduced Alcohol | 1.6
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml can, at the "skärgårds"-boat Vesta from Asperö to Saltholmen, Göteborg. Pale golden colour, fluffy head. Minimal aroma. Thin mouthfeel, but at least the flavour has some weak hints of malts and hops (and cardboard). Not undrinkable with a sandwich. |

6081 | Springhead Goodrich Castle | United Kingdom | English Pale Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004. Brewed following a 17th Century recipe using rosemary. Rosemary and cloves (? - can't read my own handwriting) in the aroma and flavour, which otherwise have the characteristics of a good standard pale ale. Must be a great accompaniment with lambchops. |

6083 | St. Austell Admirals Ale | United Kingdom | Extra Special Bitter | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 May 2012: 500 ml bottle conditioned, new at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Beautiful copper colour, moderate off-white head, nice lacing. Lovely aroma of fruity hops (Styrian Goldings and Cascade), also hints of spruce, caramel and ripe berries. The medium sweet flavour has a nice balance between the malts and hops, notes of caramel, toffee, sweet biscuits and ripe berries. A little more bittering hops in the finish would not hurt, but this is a very enjoyable ale as it is. |

Clear golden / yellow colour (not clouded at all), large white head. Fairly strong and nice aroma of grassy and herbal hops, also spices. The flavour is spicy and herbal, but not overdone - still quite interesting. Fairly light bodied and easy drinking. |

6086 | St. Austell Proper Job | United Kingdom | American Pale Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 5.5%. Called an "IPA" by the brewery. Clear golden colour, big white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity American hops, notes of pineapple and other tropical fruits, also some citrus. The flavour has a substantial sweetness, malty and sugary notes, partly balanced by a noticeable hoppy bitterness, which becomes piney and resinous in the finish, slightly metallic in the aftertaste. |

6089 | St. Bernardus Abt 12 | Belgium | Abbey Quadrupel | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Rerate, 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Dark brown colour, huge off-white to beige head. Aroma and flavour mainly as the first time, but I drank the beer a little colder now, and the sweetness was not overwhelming. I’m upping it a couple points. Original rating: 330 ml capped bottle. I had trouble getting the very hard cap off (no proper opener at hand), and 1/4 of the beer was driven out by the carbonation before I succeeded. Drank it at temp. appr. 14 degrees C. Beer was murky brown with floaties, large tan head. Aroma was malty sweet with prunes, figs, dates, chocolate and cedarwood. Flavour was again malty sweet with prunes, figs, dates and chocolate. No detectable bitterness. A complex beer, but too sweet to be "perfect" IMO. |

The finish is distinctly spicy and moderately hoppy. A very nice Christmas beer! |

6093 | St. Bernardus Prior 8 | Belgium | Abbey Dubbel | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked (champagne style) brown silk print bottle, bought in Denmark. Brown colour with a slight haziness, pours with a large fluffy off-white head. Very nice aroma of oak, leather, yeast, brown sugar, dried fruits and spices, hints of barnyard. Flavour has plenty of brown sugar, malts, oak and figs, hints of sour berries. Some spices and a certain alcoholic bite in the finish. I had to struggle to finish the big bottle by myself, which means that the brown sugar sweetness combined with 8% ABV becomes a little too much in the end. The big bottles are for sharing! Still - this is another solid abbey beer. |

6094 | St. Bernardus Tripel | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Slightly hazy pale yellow colour, huge white head. Strong and "typical tripel" aroma: notes of Belgian ale yeast, fruit, flowers, mild spices and white kandij sugar. The medium sweet flavour is spicy and moderately fruity, with decent hops in the finish. Has everything you expect from a tripel. |

6096 | St. Feuillien Blonde | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml stubby bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Clear pale yellow colour, huge and lasting white head. The aroma has distinct notes of anise and other spices. Light bodied and refreshing for its strength. The flavour is not too sweet, and has also strong notes of anise, quite unusual in such a pale beer. Unfortunately I am not a big fan of anise in beer ... |

6097 | St. Feuillien Brune | Belgium | Abbey Dubbel | 4.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle. Chestnut colour, large head. Vinous aroma, claret, caramel, spices. Malty aroma where the sweetness is well balanced with decent hops. Elements of caramel, liquorice, dark chocolates and some spices. Nice warming mouthfeel. Definitely a beer I’ll buy again when I can find it. |

6098 | St. Feuillien Cuvee de Noel | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Nov. 2012: Shared 330 ml bottle from Vinmonopolet, at Cardinal Yule beer tasting. Reddish colour, moderate beige head. Strong aroma of Christmas spices, too much anise / aniseed (as in a couple other beers from this brewery). Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is spicy and medium sweet, again with too much anise / aniseed. |

6099 | St. Feuillien Cuvée de Pâques | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Aug. 2005: 750 ml bottle, corked champagne-style. Bought in Denmark. Very large and lasting cream-coloured head, beer is hazy brown with a reddish hue. Very strong and "raw" aroma of barnyard, ensilage, ammonia, leather and fermenting fruits, mellows gradually in the glass. Flavour is a bit smoother and mellower than the aroma - chocolate sweetness, some oak and spices, moderate but decent hops. Mouthfeel becomes strangely metallic and watery (for a 7.5% beer, that is) in the finish. Some liquorice in the aftertaste. An interesting beer after all. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 9.5%. Hazy pale golden colour, huge white head. Moderate spicy and sllghtly yeasty aroma. Plenty of carbonation in the mouth (a little less would still be enough). Spicy and crisp flavour, fairly dry for a Belgian ale this strong, decent hops. |
