5928 | Skagen Tordenskiold | Denmark | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Hjørring. ABV is 5.0%. Brown colour, slightly hazy, huge beige head. The aroma has strong notes of brown bread and lightly toasted malts, hints of caramel. The flavour is fairly malty and medium sweet, notes of caramel, also brown bread baked with a dash of dark syrup. A fairly decent dunkel. |

5929 | Skagen Væltepeter | Denmark | Doppelbock | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Hjørring. ABV is 7.5%. Very dark brown colour, huge beige head. Strong aroma of malts with hints of caramel, also distinct fruity and red wine vinegary notes. Infected? The flavour is malty, fruity and very sweet, with loads of caramel, and the moderate hops are only noticeable in the aftertaste. Too sweet, possibly slightly infected, and not really something I’d buy again. |

5930 | Skands Blå Chimpanse | Denmark | Belgian Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought by my wife on the DFDS ferry Oslo - Copenhagen. ABV is 6.5%. Beautiful copper colour, big off-white to beige head. Fairly strong and nice aroma of malts, caramel, mild spices and Belgian ale yeast. Malty flavour, medium sweet, some caramel and dark dried fruits. Bland finish, minimal bitterness. |

5932 | Skands Elmegade IPA | Denmark | IPA | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought by my wife on the DFDS ferry Oslo - Copenhagen. ABV is 6.3%. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Brewed with Maris Otter malts, hop varieties unknown. Golden colour, large white head. Aroma of sweetish malts and grassy hops. The medium sweet flavour has strong notes of grassy hops, with a distinct and sharpish bitterness in the finish. Not much complexity here. Drinkable, but this is no match for first class American IPAs - nor for the best (real) English IPAs. Wouldn't buy again. |

5933 | Skands Esrum Kloster | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought by my wife on the DFDS ferry Oslo - Copenhagen. ABV is 7.5%. Spiced with lemon balm, lavender, rosemary, juniper berries and anise. Deep copper to mahogany coloured beer, big off-white head. Spicy aroma, unfortunately anise (which is not my favourite herb) comes up front. Also hints of caramel malts. The flavour is also spicy and herbal, with moderate notes of caramel malts. Again the anise ruins much of the pleasure for me. This would be a better beer without it. |

5935 | Skands New Stout | Denmark | Stout | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (700 ml bottle). Deep brown colour, but far from black. Probably the palest "stout" I’ve seen. But if you disregard the chosen style name, this is a drinkable and refreshing beer. Good head which leaves a nice lacing. Moderate malty aroma with a light roastiness, plenty of caramel but not really sweetish. Flavour is malts and caramel fairly well balanced with the hops, but the mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery. Reasonably hoppy aftertaste. OKish. |

5936 | Skands Nicks Ale | Denmark | English Pale Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (Bottle conditioned, 700 ml). Cloudy orange colour, good to moderate head. Moderate aroma of yeast (I poured it all in), malts and toffee. Moderate flavour of yeast and malts, hints of caramel. Could have used some more hops. Pleasant enough to drink, but nothing remarkable here. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned (?), ABV is 5.5%. Clear amber to brown colour, moderate head. Strong sweetish and hoppy aroma, notes of strawberries, blackcurrants, figs, caramel and Christmas pudding. Pleasant flavour with moderately sweet fruity notes, some biscuity notes and caramel too. Distinct hops throughout. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel. A nice Christmas ale this one! |

5939 | Skinners Keel Over | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.2%. Some of the profits of the sale of this beer benefits the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Clear deep golden to amber colour, big white head. Very moderate aroma, stale water and dusty attic, a hint of honey and caramel comes through as the beer warms up. Flavour is moderately hoppy, hints of toffee and biscuits, fairly dry, some fruit in the finish. Nothing offensive in the flavour, this is an easy drinking session bitter, but definitely not a beer that stands out from the crowd. Unremarkable and relatively short aftertaste. |

Boring, but not offensive. |

Malty flavour too, brown bread again, also slightly burnt breadcrumbs, a little caramel but not very sweet, noticeable bittering hops in the finish. Okay beer. |

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml bottle, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 0.5%. Clear and deep chestnut colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. 5944 | Skovlyst AhornBryg Forårsbock | Denmark | Bock | 3.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from NETTO, Denmark. ABV is 6.0%. Amber to copper colour, large to moderate off-white head, leaves a nice lacing. Nice and fresh aroma of tree sap, but I am not sure I could identify it as ahorn, if I didn’t know. (I am well aquainted with ahorn syrup, but the aroma here is not nearly that intense.) Also grassy and herbal notes. The medium sweet flavour has some fruity and caramel notes, and moderate notes of ahorn syrup (contains also glucose syrup). Low bitterness, but the fruitiness saves the beer from falling in the "cloyingly sweet" ditch. Smooth mouthfeel. I kind of like it. |

5945 | Skovlyst Birkebryg | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, at Murphy’s 8541 Irish pub, Skødstrup. ABV is 5.2%. Pilsener with birch syrup added. Golden colour, slightly hazy, moderate head. Nice aroma of Saaz hops and birch syrup. Fresh pilsener flavour with moderate but noticeable hops, the birch syrup is present as an airy notion in the background. Well worth sampling. |

5946 | Skovlyst BøgeBryg | Denmark | Amber Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.2%. The brewers call this a "dark American ale", not an IPA. The brewery website says the beer has been fermented and matured with fresh beech branches, while the bottle label says it has been brewed with oak and beech extract. Ingredients also include glucose syrup. Hm. Reddish amber colour, big off-white head. Nice aroma of fruity Cascade hops, just a hint of wood, smoke and syrup. The flavour is sweet and malty, the glucose syrup also has a distinct presence, but the beer is not quite sweet enough to be "cloying". Also notes of wood, hints of smoke. Noticeable hops in the finish. An unusual beer, might be called "interesting". |
