440 ml can, as Salikatt Timeless 2023 Barrel-Aged Dark Lager, from Vinmonopolet Sola. ABV is 7.3%. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements, pleasant and well rounded. Moderate bitterness. Enjoyable.

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Opaque yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of mango, papaya and guava. Citric flavour, also notes of said tropical fruits, a certain hopburn (which I like), moderate piney notes in the finish, some alcohol.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Madla. ABV is 8.0%. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Aroma of citrus, yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits, a hint of spruce. The flavour has sprucetips, citrus / grapefruit, yellow stonefruits and pineapple. A moderate bitterness in the finish.

440 ml can, will soon be available at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Opaque / murky yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Lovely aroma of lime and other citrus fruits, also passionfruit and other tropical fruits, hints of crushed green gooseberries and crushed white grapes. The flavour has also notes of said fruits, with a piney / resinous bitterness in the finish. A nice hopburn and some alcohol.

330 ml clear bottle, ABV is 4.7%. Despite being bought at ICA Gourmet in Oslo: this not a beer for gourmets, nor for people who love good beer. Crystal clear pale yellow colour, big to moderate head. "Skunky" sweetish aroma, notes of citrus. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is fairly sweet with a hint of citrus, minimal bitterness. Boring as hell, but not repulsive when cold. May serve as a thirstquencher on hot days, for people who otherwise would buy Corona or Sol. My first bottle (which I actually paid for) will also be my last.

Jan. 2018: 500 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 5.5%. Brown colour, slightly hazy. Huge and lasting off-white head. Malty aroma, hints of lightly roasted malts too, some fruity and piney hops. The flavour has also decent malts, but is rather dry. Fairly distinct piney and grapefruity (American?) hops. Decent beer, but the the style is not very "British", nor very "Christmassy".

Aug. 2018: Rerate, cask pint at The Beehive (JDW landside, South terminal, Gatwick Airport). ABV 4.5%. Golden colour, white head. Pleasant aroma and flavour of citrus / lemons, but not too sour. Decent hops, well balanced. Refreshing. I'm upping the score several points. Original rating: Cask 1/3 pint, gravity dispense, at the 16th Twickenham Beer & Cider Festival. Pale golden colour, small white head. Moderate aroma of lemons. Lemony flavour all right, but not much more than that. Thin body.

Cask conditioned at The Lord Rosebery, Scarborough. ABV was 3.8%. Golden brown colour. Fairly fruity and malty aroma and flavour, decent hops throughout. Nice.

500 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 4%. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Dull aroma of dusty malts and herbal hops. Half-decent flavour of Saaz hops, on a background of dusty and slightly sweet malts. Not something I'd bother to buy again.

500 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity, floral and herbal hops. The flavour has a slight sweetness with a little fruit, followed by herbal hops. Fairly bitter finish.

Cask (handpump) at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival. ABV is 4.0%. Colour somewhere between pink and orange, low head. Aroma of watered-down cherry soft drinks, a hint of marzipan. Thin mouthfeel. Flavour of a pale bitter with cherry flavouring added, very slight acidity. Definitely not a fruit lambic, but fairly refreshing.

The flavour has also loads of chocolate and cocoa, but is not very sweet. Some coffee and noticeable hops in the background. Despite the dominant chocolate: This is actually a well balanced beer, pleasant to drink, and does not become cloying.

April 2013: 500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.2%. Golden colour, large white head. Aroma of grassy and citrussy hops, with some unusual and interesting spicy notes in the background, also a hint of tobacco. The flavour is fairly dry, with distinct hops throughout, herbal and spicy notes, ending in a little fruity sweetness.

March 2013: On tap (keg) at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Opaque very dark brown to black colour, large beige head. Fruity and roasty aroma, notes of roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth and pleasant flavour, moderately roasty with notes of dark chocolate, also some dark fruits in the background, not too sweet. A nice and very drinkable porter.

Cask at The Harp, London. Copper colour, low white head. Moderate aroma of malts and toffee. Smooth moderately malty flavour, not sweet though, hints of nuts in the finish, low bitterness.

355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.9%. Not entirely black colour, rather very dark brown. Thick beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of dark bread, roasted malts and herbal German hops. The flavour is moderately roasty with just a modest sweetness, could be called medium dry. A slight acidity in the finish, more bittering hops would be desirable. Decent enough to drink, but not very exciting.

Sampled RBESG 2006, bottle. ABV is 5.1%. Reddish amber colour, creamy head. Reasonably hoppy aroma with some stale notes. Moderately malty and bready flavour with dusty hops. Okay, but not impressive.

Amber/deep golden colour, good head. Smells and tastes like a cross-breed between an ale and a lager. Flowery perfumed aroma (not unpleasant), malty flavour (a tad too sweet), plenty of bitterness in the aftertaste - but COMPLEX is not the word I would use. Decent (and of course infinitely better than the BMC stuff), but I'm sure there are better American beers out there.

RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. 750 ml bottle. Dark brown colour, low head. Sickening chocolate aroma, like chocolate sauce. Very sweet chocolate flavour, too sweet for me, but probably nice if you "simply LOVE" chocolate.
