Sweetish aroma of light malts, hints of hay, flowers, honey and newmown grass. The flavour is medium sweet, with floral and herbal hops, moderate bitterness.

500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Typical hefeweizen enormous head which lasts "forever", very cloudy golden. Typical h.w. aroma of cloves and ripe bananas. Flavour is relatively dry with the typical hefe character, notes of cloves and herbal spices, moderate hops. Another very nice and refreshing h.w.!

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.1%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, moderate to small white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and newmown grass, also floral hops. The flavour has a slight malt sweetness, with a fairly sharp and slightly metallic and peppery bitterness in the finish.

500 ml swingtop bottle ("Bügelflasche"), bought at KaDeWe, Berlin. Organic. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy, large white head. Unfiltered, "hefetrüb". Strong flowery aroma with notes of honey, very nice. Moderate carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Flavour has very good hops on a background of slightly sweet and mellow malts. Hoppy bitter aftertaste. This is a good Zwickel/Keller/Landbier!

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Large tan head. Very nice aroma of chocolate (reminds me of the Norwegian "Kong Haakon Konfekt"), roasted malts and coffee. The flavour is roasty and fruity with a moderate acidity. Notes of coffee, chocolate, prunes and liquorice. Relatively light bodied, but nice.

330 ml can, as Royal 0,0% Classic, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. Clear deep to brown colour, moderate to small white head. Weak aroma, a hint of malts, notes of wet cardboard. The flavour has notes of malts and bread, and is not too sweet. Moderate hops in the finish. Could have been worse.

March 2022: 330 ml can, as Royal 0,0% Pilsner, from Vinmonopolet Herbarium or Madla, n/a dept. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of sweetish malts, hints of caramel and honey. Slightly citric mouthfeel. The flavour has decent malts and some herbal hops, none of the usual n/a off-flavours. Much better than I anticipated.

Bottle, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting. My first (and last?) Tonga beer! "Naturally brewed" - that’s an important piece of information, as you otherwise might think that this beer came out of a chemical factory ... Sweet aroma, kind of sickly, notes of rotting pineapples. Mouthfeel is watery like hell, hardly any flavour at all. Well, there’s another "beer country" rated!

330 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 4.8%, IBU 19. Beautiful clear amber colour, moderate to small white head. Distinct aroma of malts and caramel. Malts and caramel in the flavour too, too sweet to be refreshing. Very moderate hops.

330 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 4.8%. Slightly hazy golden to orange colour, moderate to small white head. Unpleasant aroma of grain, wort and dust, hints of stale jam. The flavour is first citric and kind of refreshing, then the boring notes of the aroma come through in the flavour too, and the beer loses my interest completely.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7%. Gusher can. Hazy reddish brown colour, small off-white head. Unfresh aroma of whey, stale caramel and stale hops. Flavour of grapefruity and piney hops, some caramel and whey (which is a very bad idea). Won't buy again.

330 ml bottle, many thanks to Ole Richard. ABV is 4.7%. Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. Fruity (citussy) and yeasty aroma, nearly wheatbeer-like. The flavour is also citrussy, yeasty and slightly spicy, in a blind test I might have guessed that it was a wheatbeer, not a Kölsch (well, the recipe also includes wheat). Very refreshing. I liked this one!

Moderate carbonation in the glass. Sweetish aroma, notes of candy. Sweetish pale lager flavour with some lemony notes. Very moderate hops, but there’s a slightly metallic bitterness in the aftertaste. You may think the label is sexy, but the beer is not.

Oct. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.2%. Hazy and surprisingly pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pine / pine needles, spruce tips and dust. Very hoppy flavour, partly balanced by a moderate sweetness, the overall impression is not very sweet. Strong notes of pine needles and spruce tips. Very bitter aftertaste.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Deep golden to amber colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Strong aroma of citrussy hops and old orange marmalade, hints of pine and dust. Fairly crisp and dry flavour, not as sweet as many other American IPAs. Very hoppy, with a very bitter and dry aftertaste.

Nov. 2015: 355 ml botlle, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV is 5.4%. Golden colour, large white head. Moderate but fairly nice aroma of fruity and grassy hops. Soft mouthfeel. Dry flavour, "dusty" malts and "dusty" hops with a moderate fruitiness. Not really impressive.

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.0%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity, herbal and piney American hops. Slightly dry flavour, nice to have an IPA that has not been killed by crystal malts. Piney and grapefruity hops, bitter aftertaste. Very refreshing.

Sep. 2016: 650 ml bottle, as Rubicon Rosebud Special Ale, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown bread, mild spices and herbal hops. Malty flavour (10 different types of malted barley are used in the grist), mid between sweet and dry, with caramel and some mild roasty notes, including hints of roasted nuts, Spicy and herbal German and Czech hops in the finish.

500 ml oldfashioned milk bottle - nice design. Copper coloured, moderate head. Lovely hoppy aroma, hints of ripe fruits and caramel. Bramling Cross hops account for a distinct bitter flavour and aftertaste, quite dry - I'd like some more malts to balance the hops, but that's the style, I guess. Still, this is a nice beer - will definitely buy again.

July 2017: Cask halfpint at the Boot Room, Wheldale Hotel. ABV 4.3%. Golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, toffee notes. Nice malty flavour, decent body for a beer of this ABV. Hints of citrus.
