Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10%. Black colour, small and shortlived tan head. Aroma of almonds, marzipan, tonka beans, chocolate and vanilla. Warming mouthfeel. Cloying sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, also lactose and dates. 5283 | Raa Human Series #9 Solbrent | Norway | Witbier | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 440 ml can, as Raa Human Series #9 Solbrent, from Coop Mega Jærhagen. Klepp. ABV is 4.7%. Hops are Simcoe, Citra and Tettnang. Orange peel and coriander and some wheat added. Nearly clear golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of orange peel and coriander. The flavour has again notes of orange peel and coriander, but also more distinct notes of American hops than you normally find in a witbier. |

5285 | Raaen Høgtid | Norway | Cider | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 750 ml corked & caged bottle, as Raaen Høgtid (Christmas seasonal), from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 12%. Apple varieties are Aroma and Gravenstein. Clear and extremely pale straw colour, pours moderately sparkling with a small and shortlived white head. Nice aroma of said apples, a hint of sulphites. Moderately sweet flavour of apples and alcohol. Would probably profit from a lower ABV. Don't think I'll buy this one again. |

5286 | Raasted Imperial Stout | Denmark | Imperial Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). ABV is 9.0%. Pitch black colour, big brown head. Very nice aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. The flavour has heavily roasted malts galore (bordering on cremation), also liquorice, tar and extremely strong coffee. There is also a huge hoppy bitterness from start to finish, and the alcohol is noticeable. The flavour is overall a bit of an "overkill", could have been better balanced. Still quite impressive, a small glass of this beer could stand in for a cup of espresso after dinner. Improves a bit as the beer warms up, a certain sweetness comes through, to balance (some of) the bitterness. |

Nice enough, pleasant to drink, but maybe not exceptional. |

5300 | RCH Ale Mary | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. "Hand brewed" by RCH Brewery, but bottle conditioned by Branded Drinks. ABV is 6.0%. Contains coriander seed oil. Deep amber colour, just a slight haziness, low head. Enticing and very special aroma - coriander, cloves and ginger, rum-drenched raisins, fortified sweet wines and herbal shampoo. Flavour is very spicy - one of the spiciest beers I've had so far, initially sweet and vinous, but with a ferocious attack of coriander, dry ginger and bittering hops in the finish. Dry aftertaste. I'd say they could with advantage have gone a little easier on the spices here, and we'd have a softer and more drinkable beer. The ale "base" seems decent enough. As it is, this is an INTERESTING beer, to say the least. Not for people who hate coriander and ginger. |
