5028 | Ølve Jubileumsøl Steinkjer 150 år | Norway | Blonde Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Brewed for the 150th Anniversary/Jubilee of Steinkjer town. Unfiltered and unpasteurised, bottle conditioned. ABV is 4.7%. Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, moderate white head. This beer is not "something completely different" to the degree of the "ordinary" Ølve på Egge (the latter is a presumed "Norse homebrew style" beer). This one is more like a British blonde ale, but notes of juniper branches in the moderate aroma and somewhat more distinct flavour still reminds you of its Norse heritage. Faint hints of smoke, tar and woodwork too. Light bodied, moderate hops in the finish. Worth a try. |

5029 | Ølve på Egge | Norway | Ale | 4.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500 ml bottle, unflitered and unpasteurised, bottle conditioned traditional Norse ale. Available at Ole Simon, Sandnes. Very dark brown colour, floaties from the sediment, creamy tan head with greyish tones. Distinct and unusual aroma of juniper, resin, fresh tar, woodwork and caramel, some less pleasant notes of ammonium too. Moderate natural carbonation. Very pleasant to drink, malty with lovely juniper notes, a subdued roastiness, hints of smoke, not too sweet. Pleasant aftertaste with roasty and resiny notes. Very interesting beer! |

5030 | Ølve på Egge Helgenkongen | Norway | Porter | 3.5
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.1%. Black colour, moderate brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, woodwork and dark chocolate. The flavour is medium dry with notes of black malts and coffee, hints of wood. Moderate hops. The mouthfeel is not very rich. I’d like some more sweetness, some fruitiness, and some more hops - but I suppose you can’t have everything. Not a bad beer, though. |

5031 | Ølve på Egge ØlveØl | Norway | Spiced Beer | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought at Fenaknoken, Oslo. ABV is 4.5%. The label advertises "Vikingfestivalen 2009". Dark brown colour, big to moderate beige head. Interesting aroma of juniper, resin and hops, hints of lightly roasted malts, some smoke, mild coffee and chocolate. The mouthfeel is fairly thin and dry. The flavour is dominated by juniper, the finish has some coffee and resin and is otherwise dry and "dusty", with just a slight acidity. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy, with a big and lasting white head. The aroma has notes of pale malts, fruity hops and honey, hints of resin. The flavour has pleasant fruity hops on a decent background of pale malts, hints of resin and maybe a little smoke in the finish. Nice one. |

5033 | Ølve Steinkjer Øl (Ølves kveiteøl) | Norway | Hefeweizen | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Vaaland, Bryne, also Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Sediment, the bottle should be turned upside-down a couple times to get more wheat yeast flavour. Cloudy brownish-yellow colour, moderate white head. Moderate wheaty aroma, notes of citrus, hints of cloves and banana, but not as much as in most German hefeweizens. Light bodied. Refreshing wheaty flavour, moderate notes of citrus, cloves and banana, dry and slightly peppery finish. |

Moderate creamy beige head. Nice aroma of malts and juniper / resin, hints of spices and smoke. The flavour has a noticeable acidity, some malts, also a hint of resin and a faint hint of smoke. Minimal hops. The mouthfeel is too thin. |

5035 | Ørbæk Blueberry Hill Ale (2009 -) | Denmark | Fruit Beer | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought at Føtex Aalborg. Organic, ingredients include wheat malt and spelt malt - and blueberries, of course. ABV is 5%. Pale golden brown colour, huge head, slightly off-white. Sweetish aroma of malts, blueberry jam, caramel and butterscotch. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is fruity (blueberries) and fairly refreshing, but is suffering from a lack of hops. Bland finish. |

5036 | Ørbæk Choco Ale | Denmark | Porter | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Skødstrup. ABV is 5.6%. Very dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Moderate aroma of chocolate malts and cocoa, an acidic hint of vomit brings the aroma rating down. The flavour is not as sweet as expected, the chocolate / cocoa is fairly moderate, and the malt-accented beer is quite drinkable. Light bodied, with very moderate hops. |

5037 | Ørbæk Dark Horse | Denmark | Schwarzbier | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & bar, Stavanger. Also available at Vinmonopolet. Organic, ABV is 5.0%. Dark reddish brown colour, big and lasting beige head. Distinct rustic aroma of roasted malts, bakery and coffee, hints of liquorice. Very "lagerish" mouthfeel (well, this IS a lager beer), a bit watery. The flavour is fairly bland for a schwarzbier, some roasted notes, very little residual sweetness, too modest hops. Improves a little as the beer warms up, the malts come through. Drinkable? Yes. Will I buy again? Perhaps, but not very likely - there are better beers available both at Cardinal and Vinmonopolet now. |

5038 | Ørbæk Falkoner New England IPA Økologisk | Denmark | IPA | 3.2
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, as Ørbæk Falkoner New England IPA Økologisk, from Dagli'brugsen, Tylstrup. Organic. ABV is 5%. Slightly hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of orange marmalade, stale jam and pine. Malty and fruity flavour with low bitterness. Drinkable and refreshing, but not exciting. |

5039 | Ørbæk Fionia Abbey Ale | Denmark | Abbey Dubbel | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Skødstrup. ABV is 6.8%. Amber to brown colour, fairly pale for a dubbel, moderate off-white head. Spicy and malty sweetish (bordering on sickly) aroma, also notes of caramel and chocolate. The flavour is very sweet, sugary and malty with loads of caramel, hardly any bitterness. Some spicy notes, incl. anise. Unbalanced, too far out on the sweet side, lacks hops and a "fresh" character. |

5040 | Ørbæk Fynsk Forår | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from Rúsan, Torshavn. ABV is 5%. It’s ironic that I had to go to the Faroes to finally buy this - I have passed it in numerous Danish supermarkets, under the delusion that I already had rated it. Well, here we go: Pale golden colour, slightly hazy, moderate to low white head. Grassy and floral aroma, but the elderflowers are not distinct. Refreshing and pleasant flavour, citrussy and floral notes. Low bitterness. Wheaty character, hints of cloves. Not a real masterpiece, but nice and drinkable on a fine summer’s day. |

5041 | Ørbæk Geniuss Extra Stout | Denmark | Dry Stout | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Black colour, reddish brown in the highlights. Big to moderate beige head. Roasty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee. The mostly dry flavour has some initial hints of acidity, and the mouthfeel could be fuller. Moderate roasty notes of coffee, hints of cocoa, "dusty" hops in the finish. Fair enough, but not the best stout I’ve had. |

|
5042 | Ørbæk Jule Ale Santa C | Denmark | Blonde Ale | 2.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 (330 ml bottle). Copper coloured, a slight haziness, moderate but relatively thick beige head. Malty sweet aroma, caramel. Flavour is again malty sweet with some caramel - definitely too sweet. One-dimensional. Thin mouthfeel despite the sweetness. The brewers claim they have used "organic grown hops" - maybe those hops were organic to a degree that they were left to rot on their stems, ’cause there sure is no trace that any of them have been used in this beer! Very disappointing. |

5043 | Ørbæk ØPA | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5%. Organic. Pale golden colour, like a pilsener. Huge white head. Pleasant aroma of Cascade hops, citrussy and herbal notes. Light bodied. The flavour is "dusty" and fairly bitter, but could use a malty backbone and more complexity. Bitter aftertaste, slightly metallic. |

5044 | Ørbæk Ørbækker Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.6
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 May 2012: 500 ml bottle, from NETTO. Økologisk / organic. ABV is 4.6%. Golden colour, large white head. Moderate aroma of floral hops, some sweetish malts too. The flavour has some malty sweetness, and is not very "crisp". Some floral hops again, but the bitterness is too moderate. A hint of honey. A drinkable pilsener, but does not really stand out from the crowd. |

5045 | Ørbæk Påskebryg | Denmark | Brown Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 June 2021: 330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. Organic. ABV is 7.2%. Slightly hazy dark brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel sauce, spices, burnt syrup / treacle, earthy hops. Malty flavour, moderately sweet, with the same elements as the aroma. Not bad at all. |

5046 | Pabst Blue Ribbon | United States | Pale Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 At last - the legendary PBR is mine! 355 ml Export version, 4.5% ABV, from Superbrugsen, Ans, Denmark. Pale yellow colour, moderate white head. Sweetish candy aroma, some grassy notes. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour? What flavour? Tastes mainly like carbonated water, just a hint of sweetness reveals that it is not. Papery and "empty" finish. Gets one point for not having any offensive "side flavours". |
