330 ml bottle, batch #96, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.7%. Gusher bottle, insanely overcarbonated. 1/3 of the content left the bottle before I had a chance to pour. The glass fills completely by beige foam, and the black beer appears only very slowly. Moderate aroma of roast malts and wild yeast. Thin and slightly acidic mouthfeel. Flavour of roast malts and coffee, dry. Some bittering hops in the finish. This batch should have been withdrawn from the market.

Aroma of malts, piney hops and orange marmalade. Thick mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of pine needles and resin, malts and caramel, also hints of bitter Seville oranges.

The flavour is also malty and slightly yeasty with a hint of toast, moderate herbal hops in the finish. Drinkable, but far from exciting.

500 ml twistcap bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Typical dunkel reddish brown colour, decent pale greyish brown head. Pleasant malty sweet aroma with notes of caramel, toast and bakery. Mellow nutty flavour with notes of dark bread and caramel, tolerable hops for a dunkel (Hallertau, Spalt and Tettnang). Nice.

The flavour is reasonably hoppy with some fruity notes, a moderate sweetness and a bitter and dry finish and aftertaste.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Very dark colour, nearly black, reddish brown in the highlights. Decent tan head with good retention, leaves a nice lacing. The aroma has loads of malts, also chocolate, dark fruits, caramel, rye bread and coffee, hints of oak too. The flavour has much of the elements as the aroma, plenty of malts, chocolate and fruit, but also decent hops in the finish. A brilliant porter, and a true classic. Original rating: (Cask in England). A beer for... well, old growlers, like me. Definitely not for beginners! There's an "old man" feeling throughout, but also a fairly complex malty and fruity flavour with hints of spices and oak.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.2%. Brewed with rye, and Boadicea as single hop variety. Deep brown coloured beer, low off-white head. Nice and perfumed aroma of butterscotch, treacle, red fruits (esp. cranberries) and mild Christmas spices. The mouthfeel is quite thin for a Christmas ale. The flavour is fairly fruity with moderate hops and Christmas spices in the finish. Okay beer, but for Christmas I want something with a fuller mouthfeel than this one.

The flavour has earthy notes, some malts and fruit, hints of caramel, but the finish is "dusty" and dry with noticeable hops. A very nice bitter.

Interesting aroma of fresh coriander, spicy and herbal notes, some fruit too. The flavour has loads of fresh coriander, a slight fruitiness, hints of toffee, decent hops (and more coriander) in the finish and aftertaste. Not too sweet. An interesting beer with a moderate ABV, but probably not my choice for a whole "session".

330 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Like all Neumarkter Lammsbräu beers, it is organic. This n/a pale lager is one of their 3-4 different n/a beers. Pale golden colour with a slight chill haze, moderate head. Strong sweetish aroma of wort and cooked vegetables, also some flowery aromatic hops with hints of honey. The flavour is quite sweet and malty, with some hints of over-boiled vegetables and maize baby porridge, but better than many other n/a beers. There are also some moderate hops around. Acceptable, if you have to drive.

(Bottle, trade with joss in Germany). Organic! Reddish brown colour, very good head. Roasted malts, toast, caramel, oak and pine wood in the aroma, some smokiness. Flavour is all malts + a slight smokiness, nice bitterness, well balanced. This is a good dunkel!

330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). Crystal clear pale golden colour, large and lasting head, leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has surprisingly much (for a pilsener, that is) malty sweetness, some aromatic hops too. Notes of grass, hay and honey. Flavour has distinct and very good hops, balanced by a mellow maltiness in the background. Bitter aftertaste. A very good pils in my book, as far as pilseners go. The multinational brewers of cheap pale lager swill have something to learn here! Like all beers from Neumarkter Lammsbräu, it is organic.

330 ml green bottle, now available in Norway. ABV is 4.7%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, moderate head. Sweetish aroma with some fruity hops. The flavour is surprisingly similar to an "ordinary" German pilsener, fairly crisp and "clean" with decent hops in the finish. This must be good news for pilsener fans with coeliac disease!

500 ml bottle, now available in Norway in MENY stores. Clear golden colour, decent white head. Filtered without adjuncts. Nice grainy / malty / bready aroma with tolerable aromatic hops. Notes of alcohol, despite only 4.7% ABV. Grainy flavour with a certain malty sweetness, very moderate and "dusty" hops. A drinkable helles, but the style rarely makes me ecstatic.

500 ml bottle, bought at ULTRA Stadionparken, Stavanger. Like all Neumarkter Lammsbräu beers it is organic ("õkologisch"). Cloudy straw coloured beer, large white head. The aroma has the standard n/a "boiled" notes (over-boiled vegetables, grit or porridge) The flavour has some of the same notes, but is fairly bland. Some weak citrussy notes make the beer tolerably refeshing when cold. If you MUST have a n/a beer, this one is not the worst of its kind, but it is not a beer you’ll want to go to for great taste.

500 ml bottle. Golden colour, low head. Interesting malty aroma with hints of hayloft and sheepshed - very nice. An unusual pils! Flavour is distinctly malty with just enough hoppiness to call it a pils. Good beer!
