4251 | Matuška Weizenbock | Czech Republic | Weizenbock | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting, thanks to gunnar. ABV is 6.3%. The bottle had been open a while, but I’ll rate the beer as if it had a normal carbonation (which reports confirm it had when opened). Amber colour. Unusual spicy aroma, notes of coriander and banana. Spicy flavour, some banana. A fairly decent beer. Will rerate if I can find a fresh bottle. |

4253 | Maui Big Swell IPA | United States | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, large and lasting white head. Nice aroma of American hops, with fruity and piney notes, also some malts. The flavour is hoppy with notes of piney and grapefruity American hops - but not extreme for an American IPA. A touch of crystal malt sweetness. Bitter aftertaste. Pretty good beer. |

4254 | Maui Bikini Blonde Lager | United States | Light / Lite Lager | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.1%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, large and lasting white head. Fairly strong aroma of grassy hops, some grain too. The flavour is "clean" and has a decent presence of pilsener malts and a hint of citrus, but the hops are too moderate. |

4255 | Maui Coconut Porter | United States | Porter | 3.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, huge greyish-brown head. Roasty dryish aroma, notes of wood, cocoa / chocolate, coffee and coconut, a hint of charcoal and smoke. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has distinct notes of coconut, also notes of chocolate / cocoa and coffee. Moderate hops. Not too sweet, and the toasted coconut makes this porter something out of the ordinary. Weird, maybe, but unusual. |

4256 | Maui Mana Wheat | United States | American Wheat | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Cloudy golden colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of pineapple juice, more traditional wheaty notes in the background, a hint of cloves. The flavour is wheaty and refreshing, with distinct notes of pineapple juice again. Minimal hops (18 IBU). Okay as a summer refreshment. |

4257 | Mauldons Black Adder | United Kingdom | Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Black colour (no surprise). Aroma of raisins, cigarbox and coffee. Surprisingly fruity flavour for a stout (=surprising if I hadn’t read the IBF programme), dark fruits on a background of espresso coffee and dusty roasted malts. Interesting beer! |

4260 | Max Ivan Eidskog Øl’n | Norway | Kellerbier | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, from Vika Mat, Oslo. ABV is 4.7%. Organic. Some sediment in the bottle. Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. "Skunky", grassy and citrussy aroma. Moderate carbonation, soft mouthfeel. The flavour is citrussy, grassy and quite refreshing, with some rougher woody notes of traditional homebrew. Not quite like any other beer from Atna Øl, so I take it that this is an original recipe. |

4265 | McEwans Export | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 I liked the bottled version - even imported to Norway (my retailer stored it cool). Lots of taste, good to drink straight from the bottle with an afternoon snack! Rerate, can: Of some reason not as good as the bottle. Still a decent beer, not outstanding. |

4266 | McEwans India Pale Ale | United Kingdom | IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Barely discernible from McEwans Export. Some caramel in the flavour, well rounded, perhaps a bit thin. Drinkable stuff that shouldn't offend anyone. Rerate (can): I understand why this beer is classified as a Scottish Ale at some websites, instead of an IPA - hardly any hops are discernible at all. But the brewers insist on calling it an IPA, so I guess it should be rated as such. |

4267 | Meantime Chocolate | United Kingdom | Porter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Rerate, 330 ml bottle, as Meantime Chocolate Porter, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. The beer tasted even better now than the first time, and the chocolate is not too much. Lovely! I’m upping it a couple points. Original rating: 330 ml bottle, bought at Peckham’s, Glasgow (£1.99). ABV is 6.5%. Nearly black opaque colour, dark brown / ruby in the highlights. Large tan head, does not last forever. Distinct aroma of chocolate / cocoa, also notes of roasted malts and vanilla. The flavour is quite smooth and sweet with a very moderate roasty bitterness, again with distinct notes of chocolate / cocoa and vanilla - a bit too much for me. Still a nice "change of pace" beer. |

4270 | Meantime London IPA | United Kingdom | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. Deep golden colour. Pleasant hoppy aroma (my wild guess would have been Cascade and Chinook, but apparently it’s just "pound upon pound of Fuggles & Goldings", so what do I know - it smells good anyway). Refreshing hoppy flavour, reasonably well balanced. Not the most bitter IPA around, but bitter enough for me. Nice. |

4271 | Meantime London Pale Ale | United Kingdom | English Pale Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Jan. 2013: On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops (citrus, tropical fruits), also hints of pine. The flavour is dry and distinctly hoppy, notes of pine / resin and grapefruit. Bitter finish / aftertaste. With 4.3% it is naturally light bodied, but has still plenty of flavour. |

Sweetish fruity and herbal aroma, some grassy notes too. Fairly fresh and crisp flavour, a little residual sweetness but not too much. Citrussy notes, moderate herbal hops. Better than I feared. |

4274 | Meantime Raspberry Grand Cru | United Kingdom | Fruit Beer | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, as Meantime Raspberry Grand Cru, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 5.5%. Very cloudy peachy to brown colour, large to moderate off-white head with a peachy hue. The aroma has strong notes of ripe and over-ripe raspberries (no surprise). The flavour has also notes of raspberries, but not as much as some Belgian fruit beers, and is not overly sweet. Refreshing wheaty notes, hints of citrus. Nice enough to drink, but not worth the price. |

4275 | Meantime Union | United Kingdom | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika. ABV is 4.9%. Amber colour, large head, slightly off-white. Strong sweetish aroma of malts and stale orange marmalade. The flavour is not too sweet, biscuity and hoppy notes, hints of caramel and some fruit. Not too bad, but I think Meantime preferably should stick to ales. |
