402 | Anderson Valley Heelch O' Hops | United States | Imperial IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.7%. Hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Strong hoppy aroma of oranges / orange marmalade and grapefruit, hints of caramel and pine needles. The flavour is first fruity and fresh, then a ferocious attack of piney and grapefruity American "C"-hops sets in, and leaves you with a massive bitter finish - all on a background of medium sweet crystal malts. |

405 | Anderson Valley Winter Solstice | United States | Spiced Beer | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Nice aroma of malts (including some caramel) and mild spices, including cinnamon. Also some fruity notes (blackcurrants and ripe blackberries). None of the aroma elements are overdone. The flavour is first fruity (hints of blackcurrants and blackberries again) and malty with some caramel, but not too sweet. The Christmas spices come through more distinctly, but not sharp. The bittering hops are very moderate (too moderate for my taste), probably making the beer palatable for people who don’t fancy AVBC’s hoppier beers. Easy drinking, and does not taste as strong as it is. |

406 | Andrik Påske | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 On tap at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Cloudy deep golden to brown colour, very foamy head. The American hops (Willamette, Amarillo and Columbus) are present in both aroma and flavour, but very subdued. The aroma is moderate and slightly spicy. The moderately hoppy flavour has some strange sidenotes that may be the harbingers of of an early infection. |

407 | Anglo Dutch Tabatha the Knackered | United Kingdom | Abbey Tripel | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Golden colour. Like the CBF programme says, it is: "Fruity, hoppy and bitter, powerful and warming" - but "tripel style??? This is a strong English pale ale, as far as I’m concerned. Oh well, the brewers call it an abbey tripel, so be it. Typical pale ale aroma and flavour. |

409 | Angry Orchard Crisp Apple | United States | Cider | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle at the Flying Horse, Gatwick Airport. ABV is 5%. Golden colour, sparkling, moderate white head. Aroma of cider apples with some strange and unusual notes, hints of decaying fruits and wet basement. Sweet flavour of eating apples, not very crisp at all. I declined the bartender's offer of some ice in the glass, I should have accepted. Did not finish the bottle. Won’t buy again. |

410 | Anikonic Mjødurt & Pære | Norway | Cider | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 750 ml corked bottle, 2019 vintage, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11%. Clear colourless, nearly like water. No carbonation. Aroma of meadowsweet and Williams pears. Medium sweet flavour, very distinct notes of meadowsweet on a background of sweet perry. Interesting, but not something I'm likely to buy again. A little carbonation would have helped. |

411 | Anker Bir Pilsener | Indonesia | Pale Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml can, as Anker Bir Pilsener ("Limited Edition" concerning the brewery’s 75th anniversary - I suppose the "limited edition" only affects the design of the can, not the beer inside.) A gift from my Indonesian-born sister-in-law. ABV is 4.9%. Very pale and crystal clear yellow colour, big head. Sweetish and slightly sickly "industrial" aroma, notes of grass and maize. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour is bland with some sweetness and minimal bitterness, utterly boring. |

415 | Apal Sølvsider | Norway | Cider | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Rerate, 750 ml clear bottle, batch #004/2020, shared with my son. Purchased at Vinmonopolet July 2021. ABV is 8%. Very pale yellow colour, pours sparkling with a large but shortlived white head. Fresh apple aroma and flavour, the apple varieties used are Summerred and Red Aroma. I'm upping the score a bit. Original rating, 2.8: Shared 750 ml bottle. Clear and very pale yellow colour. Moderate apple aroma, not impressive. The flavour is better, medium sweet with distinct apple notes. This is their first cider, will be interesting to see what they can do in the future. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Beautiful deep amber to mahogany colour, no head nor carbonation. Intense oaky and honey aroma. Intense oaky and honey sweet flavour, very impressive but too sweet for me. (No wonder it is sweet, with the insane amount of honey it is made with.) |
