401 | Anchor IPA | United States | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV is 6.5%. Amber colour, moderate off-white head. Pleasant aroma of tropical fruits (fruity hops), hints of perfume and exotic woodwork, also spicy notes. Hoppy and moderately sweet flavour, notes of grapefruit as expected, but also earthy, spicy and herbal notes, with hints of blackcurrant leaves. Bitter aftertaste. Is this a blend of English and American hops? |

402 | Anchor Liberty Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Imported to Europe by www.bierenco.nl . ABV is 5.9%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, large head. Lovely Cascade aroma, citrus fruits and tropical fruits abound. Pleasant hoppy flavour - more in terms of "depth of flavour" than actual bitterness. Soft mouthfeel. Some hops in the aftertaste too. A nice beer! |

403 | Anchor Old Foghorn Ale | United States | American Barleywine | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Imported to Europe by www.bierenco.nl . Hazy deep orange-brown colour, decent pale orangey head. Intense vinous sweet, oaky and very hoppy aroma. Some liquorice too. Intense flavour too, very oaky, nearly brandy-like, plenty of hops, but unfortunately too sweet for me, there’s something unbalanced about the entire flavour profile. Cough medicine in the finish, fairly bitter aftertaste. |

405 | Anchor Porter | United States | Porter | 4.5
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 (355 ml bottle, bought in London). Pours with a large tan head, colour is very dark, nearly black (= very, very dark ruby when held to the light). Lovely complex aroma where coffee, dark chocolate, prunes, oak and sandalwood shine through. Flavour is initially sweet and mellow, then a distinct bitterness comes through. Coffee notes are dominant. There's something undefined strange in the aftertaste that keeps me from giving it a straight "10". Still, this is a top class porter! |

Low carbonation in the glass, soft mouthfeel. The flavour is malty sweet with caramel and some crisp hops. Decent hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Uncomplicated, but okay. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 375 ml corked & caged bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Beautiful dark red colour, small pink head of poor retention. Aroma of sour berries (haskap berries are a new acquaintance for me, smells like a blend of blueberries and blackberries), oak and lactic acid. Sour flavour, with the same elements as the aroma. Minimal bitterness. |

411 | Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel | Germany | Doppelbock | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 7.1%, not 7.0% like the brewery website says. Deep chestnut colour, large and creamy light tan head. Very nice roasty aroma with notes of rye bread, caramel, hints of liquorice and chocolate. Fairly dry roasty flavour (roast malts), notes of coffee, toast and rye bread. Dry and hoppy bitter finish. An excellent doppelbock, not as smooth and sweet as some others of this style. |

412 | Andechser Dunkles Weissbier | Germany | Dunkel Weizen | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 5.0%. Cloudy dark brown colour, enormous thick and creamy light tan head. Lovely aroma of brown bread, yeast, cloves, banana and caramel. Flavour has malts, caramel, chocolate and cloves, some hops in the fairly dry finish. I had it on its own, must be good with food too. A very fine dunkelweizen. |

413 | Andechser Export Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. ABV is 4.9%. Typical dunkel clear reddish brown colour, very good and lingering light tan head. Very nice aroma of moderately roasted malts, flaked nuts, caramel and bakery. Flavour is malty and nutty with notes of dark bread and caramel, not too sweet. German dunkels are not "big" beers, but are, when well made, a truly enjoyable drinking experience. This is one of them. |

414 | Andechser Spezial Hell | Germany | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. ABV is 5.9%. Pale golden colour, large and lingering white head. Fruity and grassy aroma, some malty sweetness too. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, moderate but decent hops well balanced with the pale malts. I am rarely "swept away" by a helles (nor by any other type of pale lagers, for that matter), not by this one either - but the Andechser Spezial is a well made and very drinkable helles, as far as helles go. Kloster Andechs is probably one of Germany’s best breweries overall. |

421 | Anderson Valley Heelch O' Hops | United States | Imperial IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.7%. Hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Strong hoppy aroma of oranges / orange marmalade and grapefruit, hints of caramel and pine needles. The flavour is first fruity and fresh, then a ferocious attack of piney and grapefruity American "C"-hops sets in, and leaves you with a massive bitter finish - all on a background of medium sweet crystal malts. |

424 | Anderson Valley Winter Solstice | United States | Spiced Beer | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Nice aroma of malts (including some caramel) and mild spices, including cinnamon. Also some fruity notes (blackcurrants and ripe blackberries). None of the aroma elements are overdone. The flavour is first fruity (hints of blackcurrants and blackberries again) and malty with some caramel, but not too sweet. The Christmas spices come through more distinctly, but not sharp. The bittering hops are very moderate (too moderate for my taste), probably making the beer palatable for people who don’t fancy AVBC’s hoppier beers. Easy drinking, and does not taste as strong as it is. |

425 | Andrik Påske | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 On tap at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Cloudy deep golden to brown colour, very foamy head. The American hops (Willamette, Amarillo and Columbus) are present in both aroma and flavour, but very subdued. The aroma is moderate and slightly spicy. The moderately hoppy flavour has some strange sidenotes that may be the harbingers of of an early infection. |
