4052 | Little Valley Fairtrade Ginger Pale Ale | United Kingdom | Spiced Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Rerate, 500 ml bottle, from Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.0%. Clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts and ginger. The flavour is moderately malty but not sweet, with distinct notes of ginger, also fairly distinct bittering hops. And it is NOT very sour / infected! Ginger warmth in the aftertaste / throatfeel. I'm upping the score quite a bit. Original rating: 500 ml bottle (a gift), as Little Valley Organic Bottle Conditioned Ginger Pale Ale. And yes, it is "fairtrade" and vegan - and "CAMRA says this is real ale". My oh my - you don’t even have to drink it. BUYING it is apparently enough to ensure your passage through the pearly gates. ABV is 4.0%. "Best before" February 2010 - that might explain a lot. Cloudy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Strong aroma of ginger, sweetish fruity and sugary notes. The flavour is really sour, lemony and acidic from the first to the last sip (yes, I mean really SOUR - probably far more than intended by the brewer), with a moderate ginger burn. Dryish finish. Probably infected - certainly not something I would pay good money for. But I am a polite fellow - somehow I managed to finish the bottle. |

4053 | Little Valley Python | United Kingdom | IPA | 2.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml sample bottle, a gift, as Little Valley Organic Python IPA. Brew #207, BB date 19.06. 2011. ABV is 6.0%. Cloudy brownish golden colour, large white head. Strong lemony and acidic / vinegary aroma, also hints of wild yeast / farmhouse. The flavour is very acidic, lemony and vinegary, with a sharp hoppy biiterness in the finish. This is the second beer past its BB date I’ve had from Little Valley, they have both gone sour. Apparently you should not even CONSIDER drinking their beers if they are past their BB date. Will rerate if I can find a fresh bottle. |

Aroma of moderately roast malts, only hints of vanilla and orange peel. Slightly sourish flavour with moderately roast malts, slightly dry. Hints of orange peel, surprisingly little vanilla for a beer called "vanilla porter". Very moderate hops. |

4066 | Logsdon Oak-Aged Bretta | United States | Saison | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 July 2015: Small sample from bottle, at a 4th of July tasting. Gusher bottle, like every beer I’ve had from Logsdon. The remaining contents were nice though - a fine farmhouse ale. Brett and oak in aroma and flavour. Might well sample again. |

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Moderately gushing bottle, better have the glass ready! Golden colour, clear first, cloudy later. Large white head. Intense, complex and lovely farmhouse and rustic kitchen aroma, hints of mild spices and oaked apple cider. The flavour is medium dry and crisp, again with mild spicy and moderate oaky notes. Some fruitiness too. Moderate but noticeable hops. Refreshing and delightful. |

4069 | Lomb Døl | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 March 2021: 500 ml bottle, batch #0266, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, clear untill the yeast is poured in the end. Small white head. Aroma of yeast and grain, some floral notes. Slightly citric and lagerish mouthfeel (well, it IS a lager). The flavour has first some citric notes, then rather boring grainy notes take over. Low bitterness. Not much here to keep me excited. |

4070 | Lomb Eine | Norway | Lager | 2.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 June 2021: 500 ml bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. The glass fills completely by off-white foam. A deep golden to amber beer appears very slowly. Aroma of grain and dust, some unfresh notes, hints of sweat, only a hint of juniper branches. The flavour is better than the aroma, malty with a slight fruitiness, decent notes of juniper branches, very moderate bittering hops in the finish. |

4071 | Lomb Peer Gynt | Norway | Lager | 2.1
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 April 2021: 500 ml bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Nearly clear deep golden to amber colour, small and thin white head. Aroma of juniper, hints of black crowberries, stale jam, caramel, wort and stale bread. Fizzy and citric mouthfeel. Medium dry and dull flavour, hints of the same elements as the aroma. The juniper and crowberries should have had the potential to make the beer more interesting, but there is too little of them, and too much of not-so-nice grainy and bready elements. Hops are on the ingredients list, but I cannot say they are noticeable. As a result, the beer is utterly forgettable, and I will not buy it again. |

4075 | Long Meadow Irish Craft Cider Rhubarb & Honey | United Kingdom | Cider | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, from KWM Wines & Spirits. ABV is 4.0%. Pink colour, pours sparkling with a shortlived head. Pleasant aroma of apples and rhubarb. Medium sweet flavour of apples and rhubarb, the honey has no doubt mellowed the rhubarb, but I could not single out the honey if I did not know that it was supposed to be there. Light bodied and refreshing. |
