3676 | KjaerStrup Chocolate Stout | Denmark | Chocolate Stout | 2.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.7%. Dark ruby nearly black colour, large tan head. Aroma is overhelming chocolate (like chocolate sauce), artificial vanilla, cocoa, candy and caramel. Definitely too much of all the sweet aromas. Flavour is not quite as overwhelmingly sweet as the aroma makes you fear, but pretty close. Again: too much chocolate, cocoa and artificial vanilla, some coffee notes too. I’m not amused. Couldn’t finish the bottle. |

3677 | Klaster Svetly Special Premium Lager | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 (500 ml bottle). Okay, I've figured out that the % in the name of Czech and Slovakian beers is NOT the ABV, but has something to do with the malt content. Well, 5.6% alcohol seems just right for this beer. A golden beer with a faint haziness and moderate head, and a grassy, yeasty and malty aroma and flavour that makes me wonder for a second if the beer is bottom or top fermented. Bottom fermented it is, but the Czechs would hardly call this "Special" a pilsener (it's brewed in Praha, too). But who cares? Great hops bitterness in flavour and aftertaste. I always like beers where the elements yeast (not too much), malts and hops are all clearly detectable. In other words, I like this beer a lot! |

3678 | Klein Duimpje Honing Porter | Netherlands | Porter | 3.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, thanks to oh6gdx and chris_o. ABV is 5.5%. Cloudy dark brown colour, nearly black, reddish in the highlights. Creamy and lasting tan head. The aroma is malty and somehow "unfresh" (I wouldn’t have thought of "beef stock" myself, but yes, you’ve got a point there, yngwie!), the honey is there, but without the light and floral notes that usually accompany it. No fruitiness at all in the aroma. The flavour is somewhat better: plenty of malts with a moderate roastiness, fairly sweet, notes of mild coffee, caramel, some chocolate and of course honey. Hardly any fruitiness, and not much bitterness. Not particularly well balanced, and is far from being my favourite porter. |

3686 | Klokks Lite Lys Pilsner | Norway | Light / Lite Lager | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 500 ml can, from Helgø MENY, Hundvåg. ABV is 4.3%.Crystal clear pale golden colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and grassy hops, not too bad. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is kind of "neutral", a slight sweetness, very moderate hops. At least there are no unpleasant off-flavours. Some more bittering hops would not hurt. |

3687 | Kloster Dubbel Ale | Denmark | Abbey Dubbel | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.0%. Amber to copper colour, large off-white head. Nice fruity aroma (dark fruits/berries), also notes of caramel, brown kandij sugar and mild spices. Sweet and malty flavour with plenty of caramel and brown kandij sugar, also mild spicy notes. The bitterness is moderate, so the wormwood must have been use sparingly. Nice enough to drink. |

3689 | Kloster Svendeøl | Denmark | Bock | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 5.3%. Deep golden to amber colour, large head, slightly off-white. Moderate aroma of anise and rowanberry jelly, a hint of grassy hops and crystal malts. The flavour has also notes of anise (of which I am not a big fan), just a hint of rowanberries. Fairly dry, but with hints of crystal malts, and the hops are too moderate. I’m sorry, but this is not a beer that got me excited. |

3693 | Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 12 fl. oz. / 355 ml bottle, bought at the GBBF 2008 for takeaway. ABV is 6.0%. Amber to orange colour, pours very fizzy with a moderate head. The aroma has a dominant malty sweetness, also notes of caramel, honey and moderate fruity hops. The flavour also has a dominant sweetneess (too sweet), then grapefruity hops make their presence known, leading to a distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. |

"Perfumed" aroma of peaches, guava, passionfruit and sweet oranges. Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 1.7%. Ingredients include liquorice, sugar and colour E150c (also barley malts and hops). Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Malty and sugary aroma, notes of brown bread, caramel and dust. The flavour is malty and very sugary / syrupy, extremely sweet, notes of caramel. Too far out on the sweet side for me. |

3697 | Kongens Bryghus Broyhan Rød | Denmark | Amber Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Bottle, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Deep golden to amber colour, low head. Dusty malts in the aroma. Fairly dry flavour, some hops in the finish. Not very interesting. Rerate: Had the rest of the bottle with dinner, and found a pleasant balance between the malts and hops. I’m upping it a few points. (Went very well with my "vossakorv, komler & kålrabi".) |

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 (500 ml can). Golden colour, moderate head. Sickly sweetish chemical aroma, flavour dominated by a revolting alcoholic sweetness. Not good. Rerate: I started writing before I had finished the beer. As it turned out, I was unable to finish the glass. That very rarely happens to me. Congratulations, Kopparbergs! |

3700 | Köstritzer Schwarzbier / Kostritzer Schwarzbier | Germany | Schwarzbier | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Sampled 500 ml can, later also 500 ml bottle (now available in Norway). Advertised as 'Das Schwarze mit der Blonden Seele' (= The Black with the Blonde Soul). Dark brown to ruby colour, nearly black. Large brown head. Fairly weak but decent aroma, smells like German Schwarzbrot. Roasted malt flavour with coffee and burnt toast. A bit watery mouthfeel. (Is that what the brewers refer to as the 'blonde soul'?) By all means, this is a very drinkable Schwarzbier, but the style unfortunately seems to lack the rich velvety mouthfeel of a good stout or a Baltic porter. Still, this is a beer well worth sampling! |
