3427 | Jacobsen Saaz Blonde | Denmark | Belgian Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Clear golden colour, moderate head that doesn’t last very long. Pleasant sweet aroma of banana, bubblegum, cloves and coriander, Saazer hops of course, hints of dried fruits and oak. Flavour is not that remarkable, spices and alcohol mainly, hints of nuts and oak too. Drinkable, but overpriced. |

3429 | Jacobsen Skovmærke (Forårsbryg) | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Shared 750 ml bottle, as Jacobsen Forårsbryg, from a Danish grocery store. Chestnut colour, moderate off-white head. Unusual and interesting spicy, herbal and floral (Galium odoratum) aroma and flavour. "Christmas spices" come through distinctly in the flavour, despite this beeing a spring seasonal. A nice surprise - props to Jacobsen / Carlsberg for brewing something out of the ordinary. |

3433 | Jamtlands Hell | Sweden | Helles / Dortmunder | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Unpasteurised. ABV is 5.1%. Golden colour, big white head. Moderate carbonation in the glass. Fairly strong sweetish aroma, notes of grass and maize. The flavour is sweet but also well hopped, somewhat alcoholic, appears to be stronger than its fairly moderate ABV. Better than Swedish industrial lagers in the same class (doesn’t take much, really), but this is not a beer I’ll buy again. Jämtlands have better beers than this one. |

Dark copper to chestnut colour, moderate beige head. Pleasant aroma of lightly roasted malts, caramel, burnt toast and fruity hops, hints of bakery. 3441 | Jåttå #10 NEIPA | Norway | Imperial IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at ZIP 4020. Opaque yellow colour, moderate white head. Juicy aroma and flavour of citrus and tropical fruits, hints of pine, oatmeal and "spicy" hops - but unfortunately with too much lactose. Listen, ye gentlemen of Jåttå Gårdsbryggeri: when you have brewed a good IPA at a sturdy 8% ABV, you are not required to kill it with lactose. Just to let you know. Okay, the beer is indeed drinkable as it is, but would be even better with a less generous amount of lactose. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, probably Stavanger Verksgt. Also available at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 14.6%. Very deep brown to black colour (what's this modern idea that barleywines should be black?). No head, minimal carbonation. Aroma of malts, molasses, caramel and treacle, hints of soy sauce, fusel and oak. Flat and boozy mouthfeel. Way too sweet and alcoholic flavour, notes of oak and fusel. Not to my liking at all, won't buy again. |
