3378 | Insel-Brauerei Insel Herb | Germany | Extra Special Bitter | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330 ml paper wrapped bottle, from Edeka Sophienhof, Kiel. ABV is 5.6%. Hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of "spicy" yeast and fruity / citrussy hops. The flavour has also notes of "spicy " yeast, some malts but fairly dry. Moderate grapefruity hops in the finish. 3381 | Insel-Brauerei Übersee Hopfen India Pale Ale | Germany | IPA | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml paper-wrapped bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 5.6%. Hops not listed on the label. Amber colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of fruity and piney hops. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour is woody / piney / resinous and quite dry. I don't get the typical characteristics of Sorachi Ace here. Not a beer I'll buy again. |

3383 | Integrated Bottling Solutions BSH (Back Street Heroes) | United Kingdom | Bitter | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned. ABV is 4.5%. The actual brewery, which possibly is Freeminer, is not mentioned on the label, only I.B.S. Ltd. Cloudy amber colour, moderate head. Aroma of fermenting fruits and vegetables - yes, there are notes of kitchen garbage. The flavour is yeasty and fruity, notes of rotting fruits and vegetables again, like a homebrew going bad. Dry hoppy finish. I guess they have been trying, but have not succeeded. I’m not even sure the big bad biker on the label would have been entirely happy with this brew. |
