280 ml green bottle, a gift from a fellow beer rater, to add another "beer country" to my list. ABV was 4.1%. Don’t expect me to search all over Lebanon for their "great" beers in the future, though. The whiff of fresh skunkiness when opening the bottle is actually the best thing with this beer. Pale golden colour, fizzy, low head that disappears rapidly, little lacing. In the glass the aroma is sickly, soap and rotting vegetables. The flavour (as far as there is any) is grainy and utterly forgettable. Soapy aftertaste. This beer might save your life if you happen to be stuck in the Lebanon heat, anywhere else it’s just a bad joke.

750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.6%. Cloudy golden colour, large to moderate white head. High level of carbonation in the mouth. Strong aroma and flavour of spelt, honey and chamomile, also notes of white kandi sugar and "Belgian" ale yeast. Noticeable hops in the finish. Quite good.

750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.8%. Hazy brown colour, big to moderate off-white head. Moderate "dusty" aroma, hints of wood and yeast, just a touch of smoke. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of oak / wood and mild spices, hints of smoke, a decent hoppy bitterness in the finish. Smoke in the aftertaste.

750 ml waxed bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 8.7%. Slightly hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, lemons, lactic acid and smelly feet. Very sour flavour, notes of brett, lemons, vinegar and lactic acid.

June 2014: Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting, thanks to Gunnar. ABV is 5.1%. Our first Andorra beer, hell yeah! Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. Yeasty and hoppy aroma, notes of sulphur. Sour flavour, totally gone bad (possibly from travel). Will rerate again if I get it fresh in Andorra.

500 ml swingtop bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and bakery, some fruity hops too. Malty flavour with caramel and bready notes, not very sweet, spicy and fairly hoppy bitter finish. Dusty aftertaste. Okay.

Version I (not in the festival programme), at HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Cloudy dark ruby colour, low beige head. Complex vinous aroma, notes of red wine vinegar, mild spices and oak. Moderately acidic flavour, notes of red wine vinegar, lacks hops.

At HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Very dark brown colour, cloudy. No head nor carbonation. The aroma has notes of red wine, red wine vinegar and oak. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, distinct acidity but not extreme. Quite tasty, but to be honest I’d probably prefer this as a salad dressing rather than a drinking beer.

Aroma of roast malts and coffee, hints of dark chocolate and black rye bread, the orange peel is hardly noticeable. The flavour has a slight malty sweetness, and is otherwise roasty with distinct coffee notes, some chocolate and orange peel, hints of black rye bread, moderate hops in the finish, hops become more distinct in the aftertaste.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. (Will soon also be available there bottled.) Cloudy golden to orange colour, large white head. Lovely and intense aroma of oranges and tropical fruits, also some pine. Orange peel and tropical fruits in the flavour too, and even more distinct notes of pine. A beer that will sell out fast, I expect. Good stuff!

From a forgotten backlog, thanks to Holmen1. Sample from bottle. Black colour, tan head. The guava is hard to identify in aroma flavour. Rich stout mouthfeel and flavour. Fruity notes that remind me of blueberries.

June 2015: 500 ml bottle, batch #272, from the brewery. BB date 07.2014. ABV is 7.7%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Aroma of liquorice and black rye bread, also coffee and fruity hops, just a hint of smoke. The flavour has roast malts, coffee and liquorice, also piney hops, black rye bread and a hint of smoke. Good beer. Gets even better as it warms up a little. I’m upping a point or two.

500 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Pitch black colour, huge brown head. Strong roasty and dryish aroma, notes of coffee, wood and dark chocolate. The flavour is also distinctly roasty but not extreme, the mouthfeel is fairly soft. Notes of dark chocolate and coffee again. Long dry, roasty, woody and bitter aftertaste.

500 ml bottle, batch #913. ABV is 10,0%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Aroma of roast malts, strong coffee and leather, hints of dark chocolate, liquorice and caramel. Rich flavour, not too sweet, not too dry - distinct notes of roasted barley / strong coffee, liquorice, dark bitter chocolate and some caramel, also bittering hops. Powerful stuff.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.2%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Large white head. The aroma is dominated by American hops, strong notes of spruce, pine and grapefruit. The flavour is fairly dry and very hoppy, with a massive chinine-like bitterness in the finish and the long aftertaste. Balance, in this beer? Don’t even think about it!

500 ml bottle, batch #888, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Very pale yellow colour, slightly hazy. Pours fizzy with a large white head. The aroma is distinctly hoppy with fruity notes and a catty hint, also pleasant and mild spicy notes, a hint of farmhouse. The flavour is medium dry and crisp, again with mild spicy / peppery notes, also fruity hops. Medium bitter aftertaste.

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 14.2%. Pitch black colour, moderate to small tan head. Aroma of roast malts and brown sugar, also notes of chocolate, hints of oak. Smooth and warming mouthfeel, but not as alcoholic as expected. Rich flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, moderate hops, very pleasant to drink.

500 ml bottle, batch #747, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, low white head. Strong sweetish aroma of new-mown grass, flowers and honey. Refreshing flavour, not too sweet, with moderate floral (elderflowers) and citrussy notes, subtle hops, hints of honey, low bitterness. I know this is not intended to be a very hoppy beer, but a little more bittering hops would not hurt.

500 ml bottle, batch #916, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Malts are pale, dehusked chocolate, wheat, cara.hell and crystal. Hops are Herkules, Tomahawk, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade and Centennial. Yeast is US-Ale. Very dark brown to black colour, large beige head. Strong hoppy aroma, notes of pine, spruce and grapefruit, hints of tropical fruits and chocolate. Hoppy flavour too, but not extreme. Piney and grapefruity notes, with a distinct hoppy and roasty bitterness in the finish and long aftertaste. Good beer.

Sample from bottle, Copenhagen Beer Festival. Black colour. Both aroma and flavour have dominant roasty (coffee) and spicy notes, with hints of oak and American whiskey. Pretty good.

250 ml bottle, from the brewery. Batch #86. BB end of 2020. ABV is 14%. Dark brown colour, hardly any head nor any carbonation. Aroma of oak, malts, calvados and molasses. Warming mouthfeel. Very oaky and alcoholic sweet flavour, notes of calvados, brown kandij sugar and dark dried fruits. The total lack of carbonation is not to my liking.

330 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 7.0%. Opaque yellow colour, small white head. Distinct aroma of ripe yellow stonefruits, pineapple and other tropical fruits, hints of citrus and spruce. Citric mouthfeel. The flavour has pleasant notes of chewy hops, with the same elements as the aroma.

375 ml green corked bottle, batch #200, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Deep reddish brown colour, clear first, cloudy when the yeast is poured in. Large off-white to beige head. Intense sweet & sour aroma, vinous notes, over-ripe red berries, red wine vinegar and oak cask. Medium sweet and moderately sour flavour, vinous and oaky notes.
