3155 | Hellenic Star | Greece | Pale Lager | 1.7
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 (33 cl can, bought in Greece). Pale golden colour, low to none head. NO aroma (well, I had a bit of a cold, but there can’t possibly be much there. I had no problem smelling the Hefeweissbier I had afterwards). Thin mouthfeel, sweetish fruity flavour but not unpleasant, just a hint of hop bitterness in the finish. |

Pleasant and unusual aroma of lightly roasted hazelnuts, hints of chocolate and mild coffee. Medium dry flavour of roast malts and roast nuts, surprisingly little chocolate, more distinct coffee and bittering hops (33 IBU). Smooth and pleasant to drink. |

3161 | Heretic Evil Twin | United States | Strong Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark red color, nearly black. Moderate and creamy beige head. Hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, pine, herbs and spices, also notes of lightly roasted malts. The rich and medium dry flavour is malty first, immediately followed by piney, spicy and grapefruity hops. Ends in a nice bitterness. |

3163 | Herlige Lervig Pilsner | Norway | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml brown bottle. Locally brewed by Lervig in Stavanger. Gone are the clear bottles and pilseners contract brewed by Mack and Trio. This one is very pale straw coloured, decent lingering head. Pleasant fruity aroma, notes of honey and grass too. Very light bodied, tolerable hoppy character, some bitterness in the aftertaste. No offensive sidenotes. Better than the contract brewed (now retired) Lervig Pilsner. |

3165 | Herning India Pale Ale | Denmark | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Draught in Herning, "beer of the month" for July 2005. Hazy deep golden colour, moderate head. Pleasant hoppy aroma and flavour (Cascade?) with citrussy notes as expected from an IPA. Hops are probably not intense enough for an American IPA fan, but I liked it. Nice beer! |

3166 | Herold 14% Specialni Svetle Pivo | Czech Republic | Lager | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Deep golden colour, moderate head. Nice hoppy aroma with hints of caramel. Flavour is fairly malty (at least if you want to categorize this as a pilsener), but a substantial hoppy bitterness and solid ABV (5.8%) make this a very robust relative of the lighter-bodied pilseners. Long bitter aftertaste. Way ahead of your average lager-swill. |

3167 | Herold Black Lager (Cerny Lezák 13%) | Czech Republic | Schwarzbier | 4.6
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Label says Herold Bohemian Black Lager, tmavý speciál, 13 degrees plato, Schwarzbier, ABV 5.2%. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black, deep ruby when held to the light. Moderate tan head. Excellent aroma of roasted malts, tar, leather and tobacco. Flavour of roastiness, notes of dark chocolate and liquorice, well balanced with the hops, not particularly sweet. Mouthfeel a bit too thin to deserve a straight "10", still a very good beer. Recommended! |

3168 | Herold Specialni Psenicne Pivo (Bohemian Wheat Lager) | Czech Republic | Hefeweizen | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Label says " Herold hefeweizen Bohemian Wheat Lager Kvasnicové psenícné pivo - kvasnícový svetlý lezák 12 degrees plato unfiltered blond lager ABV 5.1%". So is this a "real" hefeweizen (which I thought were technically ales?), or is it a wheat lager with hefeweizen yeast added in the bottle? Or am I asking stupid questions? Anyway, the beer is "murky golden" with a large to moderate head. Aroma is fairly sweet and fruity (blackberries/brambles, blackcurrants?) with hints of sheepshed and old leather. Lagerish elements. Some cloves too, but not as strong as with most German hefeweizens. Flavour is a strange combination of a typical premium lager and a typical hefeweizen. Moderately spicy. Dusty finish. Not bad. |

3169 | Herold Svetlé | Czech Republic | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Label info: Herold Bohemian Golden Lager, Svetlý Lezák, 12 degrees plato, Pilsenerbier, ABV 5.1%. Golden colour, large head that doesn’t last long, little lacing. Lovely hoppy aroma, flowers (incl. heather flowers), honey and a hint of oak. Flavour is hoppy bitterness from start to finish, long bitter aftertaste. Moderate carbonation. A good pilsener, but not quite as good as Svijansky Rytír Bitter. |

3170 | Herrnbräu Gold | Germany | Pale Lager | 1.7
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml clear bottle, as Herrnbräu Gold, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 4.9%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of wort, grass and baby porridge. Terribly bland flavour, just a bit of unwanted sweetness. A hint of herbal hops in the finish is not enough to save this beer from being one of the worst German beers I've had. |

3173 | Herslev Aspargesøl | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Cloudy golden colour. Aroma of asparagus! Flavour of citrus and asparagus, hints of cloves. A fun experiment, but I’m sorry - I’d rather have a bowl of asparagus soup with an "ordinary" wheat beer at the side. |

3174 | Herslev Bryghus Forårs Bryg | Denmark | Strong Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, kindly brought home from Copenhagen by my wife. Brew #213, ABV is now 7.5%. Hazy golden colour, big white head. Strong sweetish and "perfumed" aroma, "wheaty" notes (despite wheat not being one of the ingredients), notes of bananas and citrussy hops (Cascade), hints of spices. The flavour is sweet and fruity, again with hints of spices, alcohol is noticeable. A moderate but distinct hoppy / grapefruity bitterness in the finish. Okay. |

The flavour has distinct notes of coffee and roasted malts, also notes of chocolate and English liquorice, with a firm roasty and hoppy bitterness in the finish. Good stuff! |
