2851 | Grimbergen Double | Belgium | Abbey Dubbel | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 (33 cl bottle). Beautiful reddish colour, good head. Surprisingly weak initial aroma, improves as the beer warms up - toffee, caramel and oak. Malty caramel flavour with some cloves, a tad too sweet for my taste. Needs some more hops to balance the sweetness. Malty, rounded aftertaste. |

2852 | Grimbergen Optimo Bruno | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Copper coloured beer with a big and lasting beige head. Nice aroma of malts, caramel, brown sugar and balsamic vinegar. The flavour is malty sweet with some unwanted metallic sidenotes, also notes of caramel and brown sugar, hints of spices, moderate hops in the finish. Alcohol is noticeable throughout. Not in the league of the trappists this one. |

2853 | Grimbergen Triple | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (33 cl bottle). Golden beer with a slight yeast haziness, large head. Very weak initial aroma, improves as the beer warms up - I get caramel, oak, honey and apricot. Very sweet fruity and honeylike flavour, next to cloying, low bitterness - a dessert beer, I'd say. Overall I'm a bit disappointed with this one, you expect more from the Belgians. |

2855 | Grisette Blanche | Belgium | Witbier | 3.1
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 July 2015: 250 ml bottle, BB date 05. Oct. 2013, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Brewed and bottled by Brasserie St-Feuillien S.A. Hazy pale straw colour, moderate white head. The aroma has the expected notes of coriander and orange peel, but also less pleasant perfumed and soapy notes. Refreshing flavour, distinctly citrussy with some coriander. Nice enough to drink. |

2856 | Grisette Blonde Gluten Free Bio/Organic | Belgium | Blonde Ale | 2.4
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 April 2017: 250 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Pours fizzy, crystal clear and very pale yellow colour, moderate but shortlived white head. Sweetish aroma of grass, malts and cookie dough. Fizzy mouthfeel, unpleasant. The flavour has notes of yeast, grass, some fruit and mild spices, some bittering hops in the aftertaste. Not something I’ll buy again. |

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 330 ml green bottle, as "Grolsch Non Alcoholic", courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Golden colour, moderate head. Unmistaken sickly n/a beer aroma with "boiled" notes (= vegetables that have been boiled far too long) and grit. "Unfresh" and sickly flavour, notes of grit. Fizzy mouthfeel. Bad. |

2860 | Grolsch Premium Lager | Netherlands | Pale Lager | 2.9
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 More flavour than the other Dutch macrobrew lagers, still I'm far from ecstatic. Clearly on the bitter (hoppy) side (too much bitterness for me), some sweetness too. Not as easily drinkable as Dommelsch. I had it on tap (in Holland) as well as can (have sampled the original bottle earlier), it didn't improve much from tap, unlike most beers. |

On tap at Gladmatfestivalen, Stavanger, July 2007 (at Bjørn Hansen’s stand - possibly with the aliases "Himmeløl / Hansens Specialøl"). The ABV is not mentioned in the brewery's website - it is probably around 5%. Amber colour, creamy head. Moderate malts and caramel in the aroma. Malty flavour with some caramel, smooth and mellow, low bitterness. |

2871 | Grusomme Lervig Pilsner | Norway | Pale Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 500 ml black can. When we hope for a black beer inside, we get just another pilsener / pale lager! Crystal clear very pale yellow colour, large to low head. Strong and sweetish industrial pale lager aroma with notes of artificial candy and maize. The flavour is bland and sweetish, with a slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. I am amazed that Lervig can’t make a better show of it. With this crappy effort from the brewers, even Stavanger local patriotism can’t keep the Lervig brewery alive in the long run. Shame on you! |
