2830 | Grebbestad Lunator Dubbelbock | Sweden | Doppelbock | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. 2000 vintage, ABV for this vintage was 8.1%. Hazy brown colour, low head. Surprisingly pale for a doppelbock. Sweetish bakery aroma, some alcohol. Flavour is cloying malty sweet and one-dimensional. Disappointing. Drank it too warm though. |

Strong malty sweetish aroma, loads of caramel, molasses and brown kandij sugar, hints of spices. Warming mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet (but not too sweet) and malty, notes of caramel and spices, balanced by moderate hops. Drinkable and decent. |

2833 | Green Flash Hop Head Red | United States | Amber Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 355 ml bottle, as Green Flash Hop Head Red Ale, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg, Denmark. ABV is 6.4%. Reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Nice and strong aroma of Amarillo hops, notes of spruce, orange marmalade and caramel. Well hopped flavour throughout (spruce / pine and grapefruit), on a fairly malty caramel background, nicely balanced. Moreish. A beer that easily could become one of my regulars, if it were available in Norway. |

2834 | Green Flash Le Freak Belgian Style IPA | United States | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 1 pt. 6 fl.oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.2%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy, with a big white (or slightly off-white) head. Lovely aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white candi sugar and various spices (incl cloves), hints of leather. The flavour is spicy and zesty with a solid hoppy punch throughout, but I’d never have guessed that the IBU was as high as 101. Mixing Belgian and American ale styles is not always successful, but I think Le Freak is a very good try. |

2837 | Green's Gluten Free Gutsy Dark Ale | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 2.2
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Shared 3 bottles à 330 ml at Cardinal, Stavanger. Gluten free. All of them were gusher bottles, half of the content gushed out by its own will. The remaining bottles will be returned to the importer. Brown colour. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dull aroma and flavour - not horrible, just dull. |

2840 | Greene King IPA | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at The Wheatsheaf, Parsons Green, London. Served a bit too cold for a cask ale. Honey coloured. Minimal head. Little detectable aroma, a smoky pub probably had most of the blame. This is a smooth and very drinkable bitter without too much character. Moderate hoppiness, hardly an "authentic" IPA. Also had the pasteurized bottled version (now available in Norway), not much different. |

2841 | Greene King London Champion / London Glory / Royal London | United Kingdom | Bitter | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Cask at The Old Explorer (a GK pub), London, as Greene King London Glory. Beautiful mahogany colour, coarse small off-white head. No aroma detectable. Thin mouthfeel. Dry flavour, moderate hops. Drinkable, but not exciting. You’d think GK should be able to come up with something better than this. |

2842 | Greene King Strong Suffolk (Olde Suffolk) | United Kingdom | Old Ale | 4.2
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, as "Greene King Strong Suffolk Vintage Ale", vintage 2000, sampled May 2005 at the Champion of the Thames, Cambridge. Served too cold from the fridge. Deep brown to ruby colour, large thick head. Vinous aroma, oak and claret, hints of English pipe tobacco. (One of the punters was smoking his pipe in the pub when I sampled this beer, but I swear the beer had some unsmoked pipe tobacco aroma too.) Vinous flavour (old port wine) with caramel and raisins. A bit too sweet for my taste (or maybe I was too drunk to fully appreciate the sweetness?) |

Nice aroma of "dusty" and fruity English hops, hints of caramel and berries. The flavour is malty with hints of caramel, honey and some fruit. Some "dusty" hops in the finish, but not much bitterness. |

2844 | Greene King The Beer To Dine For | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. I had to try this one, despite being sceptical to the gimmicky name: IMO, most good beers are worth "to dine for" (with a possible exception of the very sweetest ones), so why should this one be different? It isn’t - it’s basically a decent standard golden ale, where the Tettnang hops (more commonly found in German lagers) shine through nicely. Citrussy aroma, notes of flowers and honey. Pleasant lightbodied flavour with a moderate but decent hoppiness throughout, nice but nothing spectacular. No doubt good with food (I must admit that my "dining" was limited to a couple slices of pizza), but again: so are many other beers. |

2846 | Greens Bottle Refermented Blonde Ale | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml bottle, as Green’s Bottle Refermented Blonde Ale, new at Vinmonopolet. Gluten free beer (no special grains, only de-glutenised barley). ABV is 5.8%. Very pale yellow colour, slightly hazy. Huge white head. Strong "wheaty" aroma (though the beer contains no wheat) of cloves, coriander and ripe bananas. High level of carbonation, even in the mouth. The flavour is rather sweet, fruity and spicy, again with notes of cloves and coriander. Not bad for a gluten free. |

2847 | Greens Endeavour Double Dark Beer | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 This is the second gluten free beer on the Norwegian market, Glutaner (a pale lager) was the first one. Green’s Endeavour is called a "Double Dark Beer". ABV is 6%. Website www. glutenfreebeers.co.uk . Green’s is a trademark of Charles Cooper Ltd. The beer has a dark reddish brown colour and a thick and creamy tan head. Distinct sweetish aroma and flavour that remind me more of cheap fortified wines than of beer. Notes of raisins and spices. Some hops in the aftertaste. No masterpiece, but drinkable even for people who are not "forced to" drink it by coeliac disease. |

Aroma of malts, bread, caramel and herbal hops. Easy drinking, the flavour has the same elements as the aroma, but the bitterness is moderate. Some sweetness, but not too much. |
