2802 | Grauballe Dark Christmas | Denmark | Spiced Beer | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, as Grauballe Dark Christmas, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 7.3%. The glass on the label promises a black beer, but the beer inside is actually copper to brown coloured, with a huge off-white to beige head. Some sediment in the bottle, making the beer murky brown in the end. Strange aroma of rotting fruits and berries, star anise and caramel. The flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, fairly sweet and malty with caramel and hints of chocolate, also some fruity and even vinous notes - and too much star anise. |

2803 | Grauballe Enebær Stout | Denmark | Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9 330 ml bottle, bought at Mahlers Vinhandel, Frederikshavn, Denmark. Unfiltered. Nearly black colour, large and creamy tan head. Lovely aroma of juniper berries first and foremost, roast malts and dark chocolate in the background. Flavour of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate, maybe some liquorice too, the juniper berries are around but are not dominant. Moderately sweet, some faint acidic notes in the finish. Fairly bitter aftertaste, both from the roastiness and the hops. An excellent stout in my book, with an unusual but successful addition of juniper berries. |

2804 | Grauballe Honeygold | Denmark | Belgian Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 (33 cl bottle). Orange colour, slightly hazy, moderate head. Moderate aroma of malts, nuts, honey and flowery hops. Honey is surprisingly subdued in aroma and flavour - this is definitely a beer, not a mead. However, honey adds a moderate sweetness to the flavour of a beer otherwise dominated by plentiful hops. Lagerish mouthfeel, a bit too carbonated for my taste. Bitter-sweet finish, bitter aftertaste. Not 100% well balanced in my book, but still a decent beer. |

2807 | Grauballe Orange Blossom | Denmark | American Pale Ale | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.0%. Ingredients include 2% orange flower honey, E223 and E300. Golden brown colour, big light tan head with an orangey hue. Unusual and initially interesting aroma of orange peel, spices, oak, fermenting fruits and apple cider vinegar, then some less pleasant "industrial" and sulphurous notes take over. The flavour has caramel and some honey sweetness, with notes of orange peel and undefined fruits. Very little bitterness. Props to Grauballe for brewing unusual beers, but this one doesn't blow my socks off. |

Beautiful clear and deep copper to mahogany coloured beer, big off-white to beige head. Strong malty aroma with distinct notes of caramel and bakery. The flavour has loads of malty sweetness and caramel, maybe too much caramel for my taste. Noticeable hoppy bitterness in the finish, also notes of burnt bread crumbs. Not entirely balanced in my book, but an interesting beer all the same. |

Hoppy sweetish aroma, strong notes of blackcurrants / blackcurrant leaves. Flavour is sweetish and reasonably malty, some blackcurrant notes, but far too little bitterness for an ESB. |

Smokey and roasty aroma, notes of smoked meat, mild coffee and dark chocolate. The flavour is medium sweet and moderately roasty, some coffee and dark chocolate again, the smokiness is not excessive. Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Big white head. Lovely aroma of American hops, piney and citrussy notes, also hints of blackcurrants. The flavour is very bitter (too bitter) from the first sip, with piney and resinous notes. There is some malty and fruity sweetness, but not enough to balance the bitterness. The long aftertaste is chinine-like and very bitter. |
