2578 | Fuglsang Fonix | Denmark | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml can. This "all malt beer" has ascorbic acid (E300, = vitamin C) added as an antioxidant, but is UNFILTERED, which is a rare thing with Danish commercial breweries. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Large fluffy head that doesn’t last very long. Moderate but pleasant hoppy aroma. Malty flavour with decent hops - at least it’s better than many other Danish lagers. |

2579 | Fuglsang Hertug Ale | Denmark | Extra Special Bitter | 3.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Clear amber colour with a reddish hue. Very good lasting head and lacing. Malty aroma with notes of toffee and plums. Malty flavour with some caramel but not really sweet, like cris_o says: "earthy". Wet cardboard notes in a slightly sourish finish. Drinkable, but certainly no masterpiece. |

2580 | Fuglsang Høstfugl | Denmark | Dunkel Weizen | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 500 ml can, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 5.0%. Ascorbic acid is an ingredient. Brown colour, large off-white head. Strong aroma of over-ripe bananas and cloves. The flavour has moderate notes of brown malts, banana and cloves. Minimal bitterness (a little more wouldn’t hurt, even in a dunkelweizen). |

2582 | Fuglsang Pilsner | Denmark | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 330 ml bottle, from a border shop near Flensburg (where I nearly ruined their system by buying a single bottle, they normally sell it only in whole crates). ABV is 4.8%. Pale yellow colour, pours very fizzy with a large to moderate white head. Strong sweetish aroma of pilsener malts, candy and grass. The flavour is bland and medium sweet, notes of malt sugar, not offensive, but has far too little bitterness to deserve to be called a "pilsener". Could have been worse though. |

2591 | Fuller's 1845 | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml, bottle conditioned. Orange to brown colour, decent peachy to beige head. As I’ve had many British ales with excellent aroma lately, I kind of expected the 1845 to be equally good. It’s not, but that doesn’t mean the aroma is bad either. Moderate fruitcake and caramel aroma on a hoppy background. Flavour is malty with some spices and decent hops, but not VERY complex. The ABV is evident, but alcohol does not dominate the flavour. Hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. A decent beer, but not the best I’ve had. |

2593 | Fuller's Black Cab Stout | United Kingdom | Stout | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very dark brown, nearly black colour, tan head. Aroma and flavour have mild roasty notes, mild coffee, chocolate. Silky smooth flavour, very pleasant to drink. Sure, there are "bigger" stouts out there, but this one is impossible to dislike. |

2594 | Fuller's Brewer's Reserve No. 2 Oak Aged Ale | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle in cardboard box, as Fuller’s Brewer’s Reserve No. 2 Limited Edition Oak Aged Ale. Matured in Cognac casks. ABV is 8.2%. Will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle No. 01886. Copper colour, large off-white head. Fine vinous and oaky aroma, notes of cognac and old sherry, also notes of raisins and other dark dried fruits, some caramel. The flavour is distinctly oaky, with an initial slight acidity on the tip of the tongue. Notes of cognac, hints of dark dried fruits, chocolate and vanilla, but the beer is not too sweet. Moderately bitter finish. Good stuff! |

2595 | Fuller's Brewer's Reserve No. 4 Oak Aged Ale | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Brown colour, moderate off-white head. Distinct aroma of fruit cake and fortified/oaked wine The flavour is not too sweet (surprisingly dry, actually), and has distinct notes of armagnac oak barrel. Decent hops in the finish. Will buy again when I can get a whole bottle, I expect I will have no problem finishing it. |

2597 | Fuller's Chiswick Bitter | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at the Blackbird, Earls Court, London (a Fuller's pub). Served at cellar temperature, minimal natural carbonation, low head. Golden to amber colour. Moderate citrussy aroma, hints of horse stable. Light bodied, decent bitterness. A nice little beer this one, but nothing to knock your socks off. (I admit I really wanted the ESB, but ratings are ratings!) |

2598 | Fuller's Discovery Blonde | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Fullers have finally "discovered" that golden ales have been in demand for a number of years. This is their attempt at this style. Golden colour, low head. Moderate hops in aroma and flavour, but nothing special here. Disappointing. Rerate, 330 ml brown bottle, from Maxi Stormarked, Sandnes. ABV is 4.2%. Golden colour, moderate head. Moderate fruity hops in the aroma, some notes of toffee and buttered toast too. The flavour has moderate malts and fruity hops (hints of oranges), with just a very moderate bitterness in the finish. Nothing wrong with it, but doesn’t blow your socks off. |

2599 | Fuller's ESB | United Kingdom | Extra Special Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 One of the best bitters around. Rerate: Cask conditioned at the Blackbird, Earls Court, London. Copper coloured, no head, minimal carbonation. Moderate aroma, initial mellow flavour, then a dominant but pleasant hoppiness. Rerate bottle: 500 ml bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). Clear amber colour, large fluffy head. Pleasant aroma of citrussy hops and toffee, hints of oak and leather. Flavour has some toffee and nuttiness, but first and foremost a distinct hoppy bitterness from start to finish, grapefruity notes. Hops linger in the long aftertaste. Not quite as good as the cask version, but still very good! |
