2529 | Fredrikstad Juleøl (klasse D) | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 (330 ml bottle). Light brown colour, malty and caramelly aroma, good to moderate head. Light bodied as expected, moderate malty flavour with some toffee and spices. Not too sweet, very well balanced. Too light bodied for Christmas, but this is a beer I'd be happy to drink with dinner at any time of the year, if it was available. Fredrikstad Juleøl klasse F is a better choice for Christmas dinner. |

2530 | Fredrikstad Juleøl (klasse F) | Norway | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Reddish brown colour, moderate head. Aroma of fresh yeast and fruits, fruity and spicy flavour, rather lightbodied despite the ABV. A pleasant Christmas beer that lacks a bit of malty punch to get a definite top rating, still: goes well with most Christmas fare including the lighter stuff like turkey. |

2532 | Fredrikstad Sommerøl | Norway | Pale Lager | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 330 ml clear bottle, thanks to yngwie! ABV is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, large head. Aroma of pilsener malts and boiled vegetables. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has, unlike most Norwegian "Sommerøl", actually traces of both malts and hops, with a moderate sweetness. Not a great beer, but better than I feared. |

2542 | Frog Island Croak & Stagger | United Kingdom | English Strong Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Bottle conditioned, 500 ml. Dark reddish brown colour, slightly hazy, large to moderate head. Fine aroma of oak, leather and camphorwood, some roastiness, brown sugar and prunes too. Flavour is very malty and slightly spicy with a moderate roastiness, but first and foremost dominated by a pronounced hoppy bitterness from start to finish - it’s debatable whether they have overdone the Target hops here. Aftertaste is definitely astringent. Still, it’s nice to have a beer where the use of both malts and hops obviously has been generous. This is not a beer for the "Carlings Black Label" crowd! |
