The beer poured a muddy brown into the glass with a small tan head that lasted throughout. The aroma was very hoppy...VERY hoppy with some perfumy and floral scents. Almost bubble-bath like. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with some mild carbonation. The flavour was hoppy and very spicy with some lingering bitterness.

The aroma was sour cherries and not much else. The mouthfeel was sour, full-bodied, slightly creamy and champagny. The flavour was powerfully sour cherries, and a huge bite on the back of the tongue.

A very good beer.

The aroma is on the boozy side with heavy notes of bourbon and oak up front, and subtle hints of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy with above average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, oak and bourbon with some small hints of vanilla seeping through. Definitely too much barrel character for me, but an excellent beer nonetheless.

The flavour is well balanced between tart cherry and sweet cherry flavours, with some grains, burnt wood, vinegar, and yeast thrown into the mix. A very fine beer.

2018 Vintage&#60;br&#62; 750ml bottle&#60;br&#62; 5.6&#37; ABV &#60;br&#62; Best Before: January 3, 2021&#60;br&#62; LCBO Outlet #010 &#40;Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill&#41;&#60;br&#62; December 6, 2019&#60;br&#62; &#36;11.95&#60;br&#62; I had a chance to try a shot glass of the original Alexander many moons ago and it was quite good, but not enough to rate. The cork says this is a 2018 bottle. It pours a beautiful translucent cherry red with a tan coloured cap and plenty of bubble to keep that cap alive. Aroma is vinegar, cherries, wood, and yeast. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation, and a ‘dry’ mouthfeel as well. Flavour starts off with sweet cherry notes, before giving way to tart cherries, vinegar, and burnt wood. The burnt wood flavour lingers on long afterwards. This beer is dangerously VERY drinkable.

The flavour had notes of bourbon, vanilla, coffee, and chocolate. More complex and therefore better than the regular porter.
