2376 | Isle of Skye Red Cuillin | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500ml bottle
4.2% ABV
I tried this beer on April 8, 2006 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark translucent red with a thin white head. The aroma was roasted malt and nothing else. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and not very carbonated. The flavour was roasted malt, some sourness, and a little hoppish bitterness. Not as good as the Hebridean Gold, but certainly on par with the Black Cuillin |

2377 | Isle of Skye Hebridean Gold | United Kingdom | Bitter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500ml bottle
4.3% ABV
I tried this beer on April 4, 2008 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark translucent gold colour with a fluffy white head that quickly died. The aroma was mainly grassy malt, but there was a hoppish hint. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was also a combination of grainy malt, with some bitter hoppiness thrown in for good measure. Definitely a better beer than both the Red Cuillin and the Black Cuillin. |

2379 | Headstrong Pale Ale | United States | English Pale Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 473ml can
5.5% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 3, 2008

Can says it was brewed by the Big Hole Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin (same brewer that is bringing in the Yankee Jim shit!). Surprise Surprise.....the website on the side of the can does not work although the picture matches what is here on the website.

The beer poured a beautiful translucent rusty red colour with a generous white fluffy head that quickly faded to islands on the top. The aroma is a combination of florally hops (subtle) and some caramel malt (strong). The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some good carbonation, not a lot (there is some slight effervescence in the glass). The flavour has some hints of malt, but has that wonderful grapefruit-tinged hoppy bitterness I like.

Maybe Big Hole Brewing knows how to brew a beer after all. |

2386 | Caffreys Irish Ale | Ireland | Irish Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 20oz draught
4.20% ABV
McCabe's Irish Pub (Guelph, Ontario, Canada)
March 15, 2008
The beer was a nice translucent orange/gold colour with a thick, creamy white head that lasted throughout the experience. The aroma was primarily malt with a slight hoppish hint. The mouthfeel was thick, and creamy, with very light carbonation. When taking into account the lack of carbonation, the flavour was nothing more than malted water. One could easily drink 5-6 of these as they go down easy................on this day, one was enough for me. |
