176 Beau's All Natural Wild Oats Series No. 33: St. Luke's Verse Canada Ale 3.5

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Sampled at the 2014 Winterbrewed Craft Beer Festival on Valentines’ Day. Poured a hazy golden colour with a white cap, slightly creamy. Lemon sour nose with lavender and hints of mint. At least the taste is not sour (well, at least too much) with the citrus and spices. Wet mouthfeel. Quite interesting overall.

177 Muskoka / Quidi Vidi Community Venture Collaboration Chocolate Orange Kveik Canada Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

750ml brown bottle that pours a brown colour with hazed copper highlights. The head is big, frothy, light-beige, long lasting with some foamy lacing. The orange notes appear in the nose with the citrus hops that blend well. Then, the chocolate malts show up. Hints of caramel and molasses. The taste does have a touch of Terry's Chocolate Orange. Not really sweet though, so some nice orange bitterness with the hops. Interesting to also get a darker beer with the Kveik.

178 Beau's All Natural David's Tea London Fog Canada Ale 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Can that pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a tad amber hue. The head is big, frothy, lightly-beige, long lasting with some tiny foamy spots. Fruity tea aromas with some lactose notes, hints of vanilla. The taste shows even more fruitiness, kind of like peaches, freshly cut apples. I do not get much of the Earl Grey tea, like the Bergamot. Mostly pear undertones. Still, a nice tea infused ale.

179 Goodlot Farmstead Brewing Farmstead Ale Canada Ale 2.7

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5

Slightly unfiltered golden-amber colour with a warm frothy head, decent stay and small spots of soapy lacing. Weird nose with the mix of grassiness from whatever hops they used in here, and the orange notes. Hints of wet hay. The taste is even weirder. Quite watery for a 6.2% ABV. Again, the combo of grassy hops and oranges is not well-blended. Yeah, not sure what is going on here.

180 Cowbell Brewing Renegade Series 026: Kveik Pale Ale Canada Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Winter Collection 6-pack with a can that pours a hazy light-golden colour with a huge frothy white head, good retention and loads of fluffy, foamy lacing. Aromas of honey, malt and some spicy yeast. Wet mouthfeel with a just a tad of dryness in the finish. Citrus, juicy and mild as a Pale Ale should be with the Kveik touch. Pretty nice all-around !

181 Switchback E-Z United States Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Part of their 12-pack sampler for Vermont spring 2023 trip. Lightly hazy, golden colour with an amber hue. A bubbly white cap, average stay and some spots of lacing. Malty nose with some wheat-banana notes and mild grassy hops. Straw malt base with maybe a touch of wheat. The hops gives a herbal finish, drying things and hints of citrus blended in. A thinner, E-Z-drinking, hazy Ale with more hops to not be syrupy. Works.

182 Wellington Pinwheel Canada Ale 3.3

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Last one to rate from their Vol. Ten mix 4-pack. Lightly hazed golden-amber colour with some particles flowing around, of different sizes with a smaller white cap from the others, leaving a little ring around the brew. Lemon aromas with the sourness and all. The taste has this, but a little toned down with very mild saltiness blending in, and the rest of the juicy fruitiness. Not getting much of the pineapples, but might be that light fruitiness balancing things, just not sweet like usual. Not a bad Gose.

183 Hoffman Kottbüsser Canada Ale 3.2

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Slightly unfiltered, golden-amber colour with an off-white frothy head, average retention and some nice foamy patches of lacing. Wax aromas with citrus notes. The taste is much better, with well-blended oranges, caramel malts, honey and mild hop grassiness. Hints of apples lingers. Not a bad ale, with interesting flavours balanced with honey.

184 Albion Gagellan Canada Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Slightly unfiltered, golden colour with a fizzy white cap, disappearing quickly, not leaving much. Beautiful aromas with the Myrica gale replacing the hops. Lemon, herbal notes and even fresh mints. It does have this unique herbal-citrus touch in the flavours as well. Quite an interesting Blonde without hops, but what was used before them.

185 Menaud Genévrier Canada Ale 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Lightly hazed, amber colour with a golden highlight. The head is beige, frothy, decent lasting with some foamy streaks of lacing. Getting some nice spices over the darker malt base of rye, barley, and with time, hints of bananas from the wheat, woody notes. Berries come out in the taste over the bananas, wood, and a nice milder blend of spices and rye-barley. Maybe a touch too much banana-wheat in the flavours - even the tart from peel is felt. Quite an interesting amberish ale with a nice mix of rye, bananas, spices and a tad juniper.

186 Ommegang Game of Thrones Royal Reserve 003: Mother Of Dragons United States Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Pours a clean deep amber colour with a big warm-beige frothy-creamy head, good retention and some spotted tiny lace. Cherry aromas reminding me of Twizzlers with some roasted malts in the background and hints of smokiness. The taste is Kriek red liquorice with some mild roasted malts and notes of maple syrup. The porter base mixes well with the cherries. So roasty, fruity and the smokiness is very mild. Kind of like a blend Twizzlers and burnt marshmallows. Very interesting Kriek blend.

187 Beau's All Natural Gruit Series: Tikkatee Canada Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Hazy golden-orange colour with an off-white head that stays averagely, leaving some foam streaks. Kind of a funky nose, not so Brett though, with maybe the closest to have a little earthiness, and sourness is not too crazy. Really fruity with some sugar notes. The taste has fruitiness showing again, with some light earth, sourness and even hints of cinnamon in the finish. A tad dry in the end. Another very different gruit beer from this series, which ends up being quite nice.

188 Guinness Irish Wheat Ireland Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Found this can at a local Metro store. Pours a hazy golden-yellow colour with a big creamy white cap that lasts quite a while with thick creamy lacing. Mild citrus aromas with the wheat base, spices like cloves. Hints of bananas, found stronger in the taste. A nice balance of the light spices and citrus again. A thin mouthfeel that makes this easy to drink, kind of refreshing. Like most, much better than expected. Pretty good for summer.

189 Beau's All Natural Lamb’s Wool Canada Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

600ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber colour with golden highlights. Warm light-beige cap with average stay and some light creamy lacing. Lots of nice spices in the nose that are quite nice for this cold winter night. A nice blend of caramel and biscuit malts in the background. The apples really show more in the taste adding some sweetness and even sourness. The spices wrap everything. Pretty nice! Could probably drink this warmed up. P.S. Then I tried it warm, and it was good - as this is cider-like.

190 Brasseurs Sans Gluten Glutenberg de Neige Canada Ale 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Best before 24/07/2018 with now showing 5.3% ABV (reviewed February 2018). Pours a clean amber colour with a fizzy warm cap that seems to leave quickly, but no. Decides to stay and create decent lace. Aromas of a sour beer with the sourness, earthiness, apples notes with some fruity, spicy specialty grains. The taste has a Brett feel as well, but not lasting at least - showing the apple must with some nice dryness in the finish. The apples really linger on the tongue for quite a while. Gets hazy after second pour. Another winning combination from this brewery.

191 Mill Street Norwegian Wood Canada Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with an amber hue. The off-white cap is frothy with average stay, coating the brew for a while and creating a foamy ring. Spicy hop nose over the Kveik yeast which gives out fruity notes. Some cereal grains do come out with time. The taste is also pretty fruity, with the grains lingering and hints of honey. Still, not overly sweet and not syrupy, making this one easier to drink. Quite nice overall.

192 Muskoka Moonlight Kettle Series 2018 - 01: Hibernating Grizzly Canada Ale 3.5

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Can that pours a hazed light-yellow colour with a bubbly, fizzy, disappearing quick enough with some foamy patches. Belgian Ale yeast aromas giving out pear notes. The taste is mild, but still has a decent blend of the yeast, pear and mild citrus. This is a pretty good Grisette !

193 Beau's All Natural Four Flower Canada Ale 3.3

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7

Slightly hazed from the tiny transparent particles. Golden in colour, with a frothy off-white head, good retention and some thick creamy-foamy lacing. Perfumy aromas with wood notes and mild cereal grains, honey hints. Not sure about the taste though. Reminds me of hints of infection, but I know it is not. Just does not sit well with me. The rest is alright though with the gruity hoppy notes over the sweet malts. The spices are quite light all-around. Too bad as the ingredients look amazing (as always with Beau's), but not feeling everything.

Enjoyed at the brewpub last year on my October beer 2017 trip. Pours a light copper colour with a mocha-coloured head and a bit of lacing. Aromas of molasses, caramel, coffee, rye and maple syrup. Watered down taste of the rye grain with some burnt malts. A decent, interesting light beer that is quite different and being on the darker side.

195 Ashton Founder's Ale Canada Ale 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Enjoyed on the patio on a hot summer night, at Quinns. Pours a clean amber colour with a white cap, average stay and some lacing. Sweet aromas with caramel notes, maybe some wheat and hints of bananas. Light dry mouthfeel. Mild watery darker malts flavours with caramel and light hops in the finish. A mild brew with decent hops, but not my kind of session ale. Seems like the wheat is odd in the one.

Thanks to PaleAleRider for bringing this one back from the brewery. Celebrating Victoria Day weekend and my 100th review from Beau's. Pours a slightly hazed golden-amber colour with a beautiful, almost creamy warm cap, long lasting and adding some creamy lacing. Oh wow... amazing thyme aromas over the sweet fruity malts that give out rye notes. Flavours are so well-blended with the lighter herbs, fruitiness of the pinot gris barrels, tea and malts. A nice mildly dry mouthfeel with a slight bitter finish. This is so good!!

197 Mill Street She'll Be Right Canada Ale 3.3

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Sampled at Hardrock 42 in Sudbury. Pours an amber colour with golden highlights, an off-white head, good stay and full creamy lacing. Fruity and cereal grain smell, just malty overall. Flavours are fruitier with decent hops and grain lingering in the finish. A nicely dry mouthfeel. Beautiful malty ale with just enough hops to dry up the mouthfeel, so hoppier but nice.

198 Fraoch Heather Ale United Kingdom Ale 3.3

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Third of four brews from this brewer. Came in a gift pack, given by Buddybeer... many, many years ago. Stayed in my cellar, in total darkness for all this time. Best before date is way gone, December 2004. Here goes ! Pours a honey-amber colour. Aromas of caramel malt, oranges and the same grains used in their gooseberry brew. Notes of prunes and spices. Apples in the taste, with some chocolat malt. Refreshingly crisp, with a lingering dry aftertaste. Pretty decent amber ale.

Enjoyed at Arrow & the Loon after the RedBlacks first home game. Pours a hazy golden colour with no head, no lacing. Loads of aromas with notes of oranges, mint, yeast and even mild sourness. Fruity taste with the oranges again, sweet teas and mild yeast. Interesting brew with lots of fruity notes of citrus.

Sampled at the Loon. Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a small off-white head and light lacing. Fruity aromas with gooseberry notes. Berry taste with the gruit. Short finish. Quite a nice surprise from Cassel Brewery for International Gruit Day 2016.
